13 accounts banned : abuse of economy

Look

13 Cata accs - 10 Bots - 3 Mains (never botted,sold,bought,anything on mains)
1 Wotlk - Bot
8 TBC - Storage and trade accs

1 TBC got banned few days before this since i traded 350k in one day ...
Ok np, then suddenly i got disconnected that evening on all just not 1 BOT.

I was manually running ZA had 1 bot up on this computer.
On 2nd computer i had 3 other bots.

I use seperate clients for each bot.

What i don't understand is, why did they ban 3 main accounts which didnt have anything related to gold selling or botting, just an IP?Why did all the offline accounts get banned? Why is 1 bot still running and all the rest went to shit lol :D

association to exploit is what i got on my main accts when my botting empire got the hammer :(

What i got is : co-operating with farmers/gold sellers ... lame :D

Just to clarify something here.

Altoid stated that it is not illegal to bot in the United States. This statement is 100% true and factual.

He also stated that it is against Blizzard's Terms of Service. This statement is also 100% true because of the way the define it as automation of the character.

However, his statement of "That is why they can ban you." I have found to be slightly inaccurate. I say this because I have found out that Blizzard sends those emails stating "why" you were banned to possibly eliminate you complaining as it does in most cases. But in reality, they do not have to give you a reason why you were banned as they are the judge, jury, and executioner of the offenses and banning. I found this out when I got banned a few years ago in the middle of me raiding. As soon as I got banned, I was on the phone. There was not an email sent by the time I got a rep on the phone and I think I upset him some because he actually made the claim to me stating, "If we feel you are in violation of our terms of service, we will ban you. We do not have to tell you what it was for either."

I know I am just splitting hairs, but I think it is so common to get ideas how things should be (ethical), could be (ideal), and are (actual).

So, just keep this information in mind as it is technically their game and we only pay them for the privileged to play it. Unlike other things in life where you actually buy something and it is yours.

Damn... Now I sound like I am a philosophy major or something.

Haha, they can be a bit picky with those photoshops.. :P I have gotten around providing ID's though, one of the ways I did it was to google the address registered to the battle.net account (since theres stars in it) and find the right one.. then I called up and started saying I didnt know what was going on etc and he was like give me a moment to look into this etc.. then ya okay well this looks like you got hacked and it has an extra security measure on there for you to send in the ID.. I was like blah blah I dont have a scanner I'd have to run to a friends is there anything else I can do to verify I'm the owner.. so he's like give me a moment.. puts me on hold then says if I can give him the cd keys or the street address on the account I'll be unlocked. Bam, gave him address and got around it. Another way was that I had two accounts on one b.net, one got ID verified, and the other was just a "call up" which ended up overiding the ID verify since they were on the same bnet.

So they did ban on active accounts on the IP.. and not just the mac.. I guess 5 or 6 accounts on each computer is obvious enough though.. I wonder if you had like 5 accounts on 5 computers if they would have assumed the same thing.

edit: sorry missed the last page.

At least you're not in mimi's boat and lost 12million gold, dragonslayer mage and had all accounts with her name in it locked (bc of the lawyer calling her) :P I even had a vanilla with my name on it, my address and just because it was in her 30 something guilds they banned it, lol. Co-operating with gold farmer/seller is a new one for me.. wow.

They'll probably watch your IP, I wasnt sure of it when I lost 12 but when I would buy new accounts they'd go down within a week and I knew it had to be my IP being watched.. old ones usually within a week, I'd say you have like 2 safe days after getting an account back to bot, after that you're in dangerous territory.

Well i started to play on abit different way now. I won't stop botting on the accs i recovered thats the point. I will just use VPN, i'm going to asap change my email/info etc. on the accs, if they get banned ill claim them hacked few days after the ban.
I'm also waiting for another ISP now, will change it to add that bit of security on :P

And about Mimi's boat i think i lost equaly same as she did.Not the gold but the value of accounts.
2 times rank 1 gladiator,Arena master, 70 twink with the insane, 3 PVE accounts with progress of 6/7 HC Firelands ... :)

@ OP: ouch

^ ouch. What avenue would they pursue legally?

Blizzard isnt dumb when they dont want to be(1-% of the time) so im pretty sure they wont give accounts back if there part of a ip ban.

^ ouch. What avenue would they pursue legally?
None. There is no legal avenues you can pursue if you lose accounts. Regardless of what happened. The ToU and EULA are very specific. Blizzard owns the accounts and everything in them. They can ban you for ANY reason or NO reason at all.

Well this is final review :

9 Cata accs perma banned (1 PVP main acc, 2 PVE main accs, worh ALOT)
1 Wotlk acc perma banned
8 TBC accs perma banned

I tried to call in for those 3 main accounts, but they wont lift the bans at any cost because they are saying those accs were all involved in gold selling.

I got 4 Cata accounts back and thats about all :)

Botting is NOT against the law in the US - it IS against the TOS of Blizzard. That is why they can ban you.

Kiyumi, the obvious questions come to mind for those of us that are reading this. About how many hours a day did you bot on each account? How many were being run on the same computer? And... did you sell gold?

Judging from the # of accounts you mentioned, it sounds to me like you are selling gold, which is a much higher risk situation than using it for personal use. Also, if you were selling, was it being done to private buyers?

I'm just asking in the hopes that it could be used as a learning experience for others...
yes botting against law its hacking last time i check hacking agianst law

Not within the United States. In the United States, hacking is defined, legally, as garnering unauthorized computer access and then abusing that access to obtain valuable information, financial or otherwise, damaging a machine, or accessing a computer that's meant for use by the U.S. government.

How fast do they respond i got banned around the same time last night, i emailed them and they still have not responded.

I had an "abuse of the economy" ban, and had it overturned--no ID needed. I made a battle.net ticket, and had it sorted the same day. I submitted it through "hacked" in the drop-down menu. Acted confused, and voila. Have you tried this method?

13 accounts .... I'm classing this as being slightly greedy ;)

on the server i play on the goldsellers are really stupid.

They advertize in the trade-channel.

No wonder they get suspensions/bans since they probably annoy the hell out of ppl when sending messages every 15-20 seconds.

After that they come here bitching. (Not saying the starter of this thread does that)

Why would i be greedy :D?With current gold prices&material prices u can't make anything out with 1-2bots ... I never spammed /2 or anyone :) Was just doing f2f trades with vanilla

kiyumi,

i know this is personal info, but im just really curious, how much money were you able to make per day using all those bots? :) its would be cool to know what is possible these days... i just bot 3 acc.. and thinking about going hardcore with a new machine just for botting

I was doing about 5k per bot :) Just mining/herbing and selling what i got. I'm too lazy to micro manage :D
