My apologies if this has been reposted, the Buddy Forums are lagging so badly.
Patch 1.0.7 Preview - Diablo III

BoA Rare Recipe items (BIS):
These new items will have six affixes and feature a primary stat (Str, Dex, Int, Vit) that extends higher than what is currently available in the respective slots. The items will also require an account-bound crafting reagent called Demonic Essence, which drops from Elite monsters in Inferno.

The Archon Armor recipe (the chest piece) can be purchased from Squirt the Peddler for 1.5 million gold. The other plans will drop randomly in the world, but also have a 50% chance to drop off the following bosses when you have five stacks of Nephalem Valor:
Skeleton King
Spider Queen
Maghda
Zoltun Kulle
Ghom
Cydaea
Rakanoth
Izual

New Gem Tier: Marquise & Ruby changes
In addition to new items, we're also adding a new tier of gems for those who really want to push their character farther. The new tier is called "Marquise" and most of its stats are in line with the current gem progression.

We also took the opportunity to modify the Ruby effect in weapons. At the moment, the Critical Hit damage bonus provided by the Emerald is a clear choice for anybody looking to do more damage with their weapon. The new tier Ruby is a significant bump up that should make it the preferred choice for those who favor attack speed over Critical Hit chance, or for those who use skills which do not benefit as much from Critical Hit such as Sentry and Hydra.

The current design is that these gems can be combined at the Jeweler for a substantial reagent and gold cost (3 Radiant Star gems, 20 million gold, and 1 Demonic Essence), and the designs will drop randomly from level 63 monsters around the world.

So patch is basically:
- Blizzard's desperate attempt to create gold sinks for the ever increasing gold supply through BoA crafting (finally Blizz got the hint from PoE).

- New Recipes will be BoA.

- BoA crafted items will be BIS, and therefore superior to AH/RMAH gear

- Champ farming will be reduced to gathering BoA mats/recipes. (Demonic Essence can't be sold on AH/RMAH since they're BoA.)

- Marquise vs Radiant Star Gems
Radiant Star Gems: 400k gold + 20 Tomes of Secret + 3 Perfect Star gems
Marquise Gems: 20M gold + 1 Demonic Essence + 3 Radiant Star gems
Gold cost has risen by 400 times!

- Expect crafting cost of BoA items to be at least 100k gold per click (since you don't need the Infernal Machine Event and if Blizzard is charitable)

- Many players actually skipped leveling their Blacksmith and Jeweller and Blizzard isn't happy. So the new crafting is intended to make the leveling of Blacksmith and Jeweller to be compulsory.

- Gold price will rise and hence Gold farming will be more profitable.

- Blizzard will benefit in the end because they get more cuts by selling you gold (15% + 15%) than from RMAH Items ($1 + 15%).

it all depends on the crafting costs - so the vlaue of crafting materials can go up(gold) - i was hoping that they introduce 7 affix super rares somthing nice for the AH.

With these changes they hurt their own AH - introducing new gear sets wich arnt tradeable is kinda boring. Or they want to limit the RMAH traffic to Gold only where they have the best cut.

The think is we don't know yet what the BOA item will need...
They may require ton of mats + plus the new BOA mat and ton of gold and any other variation of these 3 variables.
I personally hope that it will cost TON of gold. A sink is needed badly right now.

SOOO, the new crafting essence can't even be sold/traded

The new NO of course i know that. But who is to say that they will need only that one?

I hope for this:
Random item of BIS BOA
Needs to be crafted:
Gazillion normal essences.
Gazillion Brimtones.
Gazillion Tears.
Huge amount of new essence.
Over 9000 mil of gold.

While obviously exaggerating my point is while the new essence is untradable if the items need enough of the old mats it will be a profit for us because they will rise in price.
Plus you don't expect blizzard to just abandon the old mats.

im looking forward to selling para 100 with full BOA BIS gear accounts. i can see the $$$$ already.

but the BOA BIS gear will still be super rare rolls so its not like everyones just gonna be stacked out in awesome gear instantly so there will still be a demand for AH gear.

I honestly don't see much coming from this apart from many more botters farming gold rather then champs. You'd profit highly on collecting gold to sell for the gold sink, rather then actually attempting to get the BIS gear.

from the price for the gem i think blizz learned their lesson and the gear crafting will be really expensive , so it can work as a gold sink
maybe they are preparing for the toon selling in RMAH , get para 100 with full BOA bis gear and sell the toon tru rmah :D

Will hurt the item market but should help gold market in a fairly big fashion.

The problem being item hunting the last 6 weeks has been far far far more profitable than even the best gph clients. If item prices drop considerably it will be a net loss per client in whatever direction you look.

Higher gold price but harder to sell items = harder to farm gold.

From the looks of it atm, i think im going to hoard even more gold atleast for the short term and liquidate items other than weapons.

Awesome, I've been saving all gold for the past 2 weeks, got a billion so far (not counting 200mil unsold items). Just wish I saved crafting mats.

High main stat doesn't mean BiS. Some of these 'BoA' items can't roll IAS (The Helm & Bracers as far as I know).

Do you guys think they are gonna "fix" our favorite swap thingie?

Monk will still be better then a barb, i am confident with 10-20 mil investment in weapons, monks will be able to run at least mp3 without this "exploit".
I am already working on my weapon / skill builds for that matter.
