***Notice of Account Closure***

Account Name: WOW1

Reason for Closure: Terms of Use Violation -- Exploitative Activity: Abuse of the Economy

This account was closed because one or more characters were identified exchanging, or contributing to the exchange of, in-game property (items or gold) for "real-world" currency. This exchange process negatively impacts the World of Warcraft game environment by detracting from the value of the in-game economy.

Even if this behavior is the result of a third party accessing the account instead of the registered user (for example, a friend, family member, or leveling service) then the account can still be held responsible for the penalty because of the impact it had on the game environment.

We've found the above behavior is many times directly related to groups responsible for compromising World of Warcraft accounts; we take these issues very seriously. To better understand our position against exploitative activity and the risks involved, please review this article: http://www.wow-europe.com/en/info/faq/antigoldselling.html

The exploitative activity that took place on this account violates the World of Warcraft Terms of Use. We ask you take a moment to review these terms at http://www.wow-europe.com/en/legal/termsofuse.html. Any recurring subscriptions on this account have been suspended to prevent further monetary charges.

For any disputes of this action or further information on Exploitive Activity, please visit the Exploitative Activity FAQ and contact page here:

Anyone know any good ways to dispute this?
It's just "Abuse of the Economy".

Good email to write?

Call em, demand to know why you have been banned. It's blizzards weak excuse for a ban.

Say something like: You are unemployed or w/e ^^

Then u should be able to dispute it, either call or send an email first and see what is said, although it will most likely be one of there premade replys, if u want affectiveness call them and demand to know why you've been banned, more than likely they will unban it if no prior suspensions were made.

Should it be done asap?
When you email, do you use the email form?
Or just reply to the email they sent.

Abuse of the Economy is an umbrella term and can mean various other reasons including botting.

Just do the usual why was I banned, I've done nothing wrong, I just colelct gold for when the expansion comes to level my skills, and you ban me, I do not understand, please tell me what is wrong.

For example, play quite dumb.. lol

Had the same problem - with an account a month back - not using HB or GB -> I called and they put my account into investigation - I had a large report emailed back 2 weeks later of everything I did wrong - i LOL'd. (process is said to take up to 2weeks)

But yea just call up and play dumb. if that doesnt work - call back again and play dumb - you may get a nice operator =] good luck

For emailing, do we use the email form on their website?
It asks for CD key, and a scan of a picture with your head on it? WTF.

Success! Account unbanned, and password reset.
Called them, waited 20 minutes on the phone.

Me: Hi, I tried logging into my account, and it won't login, it says it's closed. What's happening?
Operator: Please confirm your details... etc...
Me: Blah blah... etc.
Operator: I'm gonna put you on hold while I check your account.
Me: Ok.

<<< OnHold >>>

Operator: You haven't been to Switzerland recently have you?
Me: No, never in my life.
Operator: Well, it shows you logged on in Switzerland these past few days. I'm going to assume you were compromised, in other words, hacked. I've reset your password, and your account unlocked. It will take a few days to get you items back via the GM blah blah...
Me: Awesome!
Operator: Please do a virus scan, sweep of malware before resetting your password
Me: Thanks a bunch
Operator: Anything else I can help you with? Blah blah
Me. No. Thanks though.

<<< Click >>>

I had a much longer story prepared, and didn't get to use it.
As soon as I was off hold, he was convinced I was hacked, and unbanned me.
I think though, that my swiss VPN did some help into convincing them that I'd been hacked.

Thanks guys!

No, not really.

It?s when they can?t figure out if you?ve been botting, or spot the software you?ve been using.

If it?s because of botting, i would be "Use of 3rd party software" or something.

Use of 3rd Party Software applies when they can "prove" you are breaking those specific terms of service.

The abuse of the economy message is part of an automated process they use to flag/suspend/ban accounts with, obviously automation does not necessarily prove 3rd party software so they apply a generic umbrella term in order to cover their own backs.

They have many reasons for giving an economy abuse ban which gets detailed in the email. This particular one is obviously for buying and selling gold, and if you haven't done it then you should have no problems getting it back.

Also, it's a cdkey OR photo ID. If you have both, even better, but a cdkey is usually enough. A word of advice though, these bans are often more successfully lifted over the phone rather than using the web form.

Use of 3rd party software does not apply when it's proven. Any proof of botting leads to instant ban with no option to appeal. And any method they find to prove botters is used for a mass-ban. There are a lot of 3rd party 72hour bans.
