Reading through the thread I was wondering if its any safer than running straight multiple instances on one OS same IP LOL seems like VM users still get banned regardless.

EDIT:

After reading through all the comment I've come to a conclusion:

FUCK VM 24.7 till the wheels fall off

Time and time again there have been banwaves. People with VM live or die by it.

I have never used VM for anything other than emulating other OS'es and working in live environments. I have 12 bots on the same machine. No banhammers and not one of those has ever been inside of a VM or through a v-p-n. Simple logistics catch people, not gimmicks.

I previously ran 4 bots in VMWare, and it wasn't ideal because I was pretty much at cap for resources on my PC. I got hit with the banwave, and I lost almost all my bots, VMWare or non VMWare, so it didn't give me any extra protection. Now that I am rebuilding I see that just running the client on my PC is using like ~5% cpu usage....which means I can get a ton of D3s that way. I feel like I lost income potential by using the VMWares.

Tin foil hats made you lose profits, I botted 24/7 no vmware/overhead (so I can run more), all same ip, same everything, and our outcome is the same, but our profit isn't O.o.

I've seen reports with people doing vmwares, different ip, different hours (8, 12, 24 hours, etc), the whole 9 yards but still got banned. You can get banned for 1 hour of botting or 24 hours of botting. Botting is botting (PERIOD). It's a hit and miss and how lucky you are.

Rule of thumb, go HARD 24/7 or go home =)

different strategies for different games. there are lots of games where 24/7 on one account is impossible to make a profit at. and lots of bans by ip/hardware id

i'm not an expert on this game so i can't say for sure which is the best strategy for it. but keep in mind that someone who says they went 24/7 and didn't get banned does not mean it will be the same for you or that it is the best strategy.

some guy could say he banged a different girl every week for 3 months without condoms and none of them got pregnant and then say, see condoms aren't needed to prevent pregnancy. but it isn't a valid arguement.

Even with VM's people still get banned. So why waste time setting it up when you still be ban in the first place?

Problem is the usage of vmware is different for each person. A lot of people use it/set it up differently.

1. Some people just use vmware
2. Some people use vmware and ***
3. Some people use vmware, change hardwareid and/or mac address
4. Some people do 2 and 3

When I first got hit with a ban, I lost 5 accounts on one computer (3 were running on another that were unbanned). 2 were in vmware, 3 were ran regular. But i was just learning how to bot, so I was using no. 1 from above, which isn't a strong case for vmware.

I'm currently using the method in 3, 1/7 bots were banned in the recent hit.

I don't believe they ban by IP because of apartments, colleges, etc. I do believe that by setting up all these different ids and what not, it MIGHT reduce the chance of account linking when they flag an initial account. It's all speculative I know, but if I lose all my bots I have up right now in one hit, i'm stopping with vmware.

Each instance of a virtual computer should have a unique hardware id and mac address

Curep4 any guide to change hardware id? (i noticed vmware changes mac adress auto after cloning from another instance)

another example of the things people do wrong, don't clone the virtual machine, that just changes the mac address. to appear to be a fresh new computer you need to create a vm from scratch.

vms are just an extra layer of tinfoil you can do without... makes no difference really.

Time and time is has been stated. Be nice to lady luck and she might be nice to you....

IMO, it doesn't really matter. Just look at the ban forums... Everyone from mutliple VM's to ***'s, multi boxing to single boxing has received bans...

That fact pretty much tells me it doesn't matter its all luck of the draw untill we one day find out what is flagging our accounts. Seems to me that we only ever hit the magical button that flags our accounts ever so often.

My main setup of 5 bots been botting since june or like and never been banned, so dunno about that.

PD: still think they help to not get caught :p
