Like it or not, try to stand in his shoes and ask yourself, will you report him? The answer will most likely be yes, since you worked so hard for that 80 levels and end up getting surpassed by a bot within a week. On the other hand, reporting some one botting isn't as easy as right clicking his name as report him as a "botter". There is no such option. Your battle.net friends are probably too lazy to go through the process.
After living with my girlfriend for a year, I stole a few tricks from her, psychologically speaking.
1. Be his bff - always ask him how he's doing, compliment on the his new items, sentences like "oh what a marvelous armor you got, it brings out the barbarian's eyes, i bet that's one expensive item" wouldn't hurt.
2. Gifting - a few items here and there wouldn't be the worst idea in the world, join his games, say you got a couple surprises for him.
3. Gossip - A search on google will yield good results on up-coming d3 changes, be sure to share these with the guy, he'll thank you for them and perhaps exchange phone numbers to stay in contact.
4. Putting out - Be prepared to offer him a handjob. Nobody's gonna say no to that, especially some geek ass nerd that's willing to go through the process of reporting you.
There are more, but those are just for dealing with the manipulating bitch.
Hope this helps.
