Hey, so i've got a few monks already running around for me, so I decided that this new one should be a Barb (just to check it out and see the pro's and cons) However I had a few questions for any skilled Barb Botters out there.

1. I've got a little over 100m I can invest into gearing, not including a Str-heavy Mempo and a Str-heavy Witching Hour. I'm not so much concernerd about what gear to get him or how to gear him up, but what i'm really wondering about it what the best build to use. Does a WW Build run A3 effeciently? (a rl buddy complains of some issues on staircases or single mobs at times)

As it is now, i've got monks doing MP3-4 on Act 3, what's a good MP for a "decently" equipped Barb to run on?

Any advice is appreciated, is someone could link some of the more productive and stable builds and give a little info on what act and MP to run on, it would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

My ww barbs run a3 mp0 with barracks, underbridge, stonefort, skycrown and heart of cursed cut out. The staircase issue is mostly with skycrown and stonefort.

Ah ok, so at what DPS and Stats should I be at if i'm going WW and want to do something like MP5 on Act 3?

I have a barb with 60k dps and 60k health running act 3 mp4. 0 deaths/hour. not WW. going to do mp5 at 80k dps.

I personally think mp is a waste of time and i have corroborated that conclusion with statistical evidence. 40k hp, 80k dps and 40% crit will run a3 mp0 very fluidly.

get a sunkeeper with crit dmg and soc as mainhand for the extra MF and 10% crit chance

@imap30: if you don't mind me asking, what build do you run with (i'm somewhat new to barbs) and how long on average does it take for you to complete an Act3 run?

@Coupons: I respect your opinion in regards to MP, but personally i've got one of my monks that's praragon 49 running on MP3 for Act 3 and he's getting consistent (over the past week as he's been levelling and farming) higher amounts of LPH and Rares that are decent enough to sell for a good sum of Gold. This is, of course in comparison to a RL buddy's Barb Bot who's now Para 54 and run's the same amount of time i'm usually running, however he does Act 3 on MP0. So just from my personal experience i've got a feeling and belief that higher MPs yield greater results if you're able to kill at a sufficient rate.

Personal experience of a non-significant sample size.

Sounds legit.

You need to be breaking like 100k DPS before MP1 might be worth it.

Like I said, I've tested different MP and was terribly dissapointed. DPH went up, gph went down, exp/h went down just by going up 1 monster power. I mean, my two barbs are paragon 100 and 91 right now and I've done MP0 exclusively besides testing other MP. Even if you're the best geared player in the world, I think mp0 would be more profitable than any other MP.

Also it might be worth noting i've made $470 in 2 weeks off of these 2 characters.

Well it may be of a non-significat sample size for the comparison of my one monk to my rl buddies barb, that's fair enough. But given that i've already got 4 monks (3 running Act 3 on MP3 and one running on Act 3 MP4) and I get more substantial drops and gph than friends of mine who're running lower MP's.

Like I said i'm fairly new to Barbs so I didn't know that i'd have to hit 100k dps before making MP1 viable, but in of my other 4 running Monks, 100kdps unbuffed is what i'll gear them up to before setting them loose on Act 3 MP3. However i've been told that in terms of gear cost it's much more inexpensive to get a barb to 100k dps than a monk, but who knows, I might just end up checking it out through trial and error.

Well as DPS increases, you can jump MP's safely only increasing GPH, IPH, XP, but probably not over MP2.

If you one-shot any monster on any MP, then MP10 is the best obv, but there's not that much DPS available (yet :D).

I'd say MP1 at like 90k, MP2 around 180k+

I'll start on MP0 and like yourself i'll see how my barb does if I jump him up a level or two. $470 in 2 weeks is real nice, I was averaging around $800/month before with just the 3 monks, but now it seems that since they doubled the drop rate of legendaries the RMAH prices have dropped heavily on certain items, which is a shame. To date for this month i've only reached $440 (and statistically I should be at least at abit more with 4 bots and a 5th on the way) however it could just be a good or back spike of luck that i've hit in the past 2-3 days. The only positive is that between the 4 monks i'm making an average of 1.5m/hour...so worst case scenario I can just end up buying off the GAH to flip onto the RMAH.

Like I said, thanks for the input and i'll probably wait awhile before I take the barb off of MP0 (For most my bots and buddies with them, none of us really saw a notable amount of LPH until around paragon 25-30) but i'll definitely have to check it out. Besides, it'll be a nice pace to not have to choose which resist this bot is going to stack.

i use Charging-Frenzy-Barb. I haven't timed my runs. I usually turn the bot on and go to bed. Then when I wake up I turn the bot off and go to work. My loot since I started using mp4 has become much more valuable.

Thx, I was looking at that earlier and thought of using that as an alternative, i'm guessing gearing up is the same in regards to MH OH except you'd want a higher DPS OH than you would for a WW build eh?

pretty sure that build a skorn would be cheaper and better... could be wrong

Well i'm not too concerned about price to be honest, i'm just cusious if the Lifesteal and LoH and possible benefits from a Mighty Weapon might outweight the benefits of a strong high-stat skorn.

ppsh everyone really overdoing the needs. i have 4-5 bots around 40-57k dps that run a3 mp3 just fine

30m = a3 mp0-2 barb setup no problem if you take time scanning the AH

How do you build your monks? And do they die?

Their death rate is pretty low, except there are always those pain in the a$$ packs of elites that just meet your bot in the wrong place at the wrong time. But usually I get AR to 700-800, get at least 30 crit%, around 1000-1200 LoH is usually ok. Then it's just the standard build of :

Fists of Thunder - Thunderclap
Blinding Flash - Faith in the Light
Breath of Heaven - Blazing Wrath
Serenity - Your choice of the healing run or the extension to 4 seconds
Sweeping Winds - Cyclone
Mantra of Evasion - Hard Target (or if you're ok with your Armor you can go Mantra of Conviction - Overawe)

Passives are:

One with Everything
Seize the Initiative
I prefer to go without resolve for my 3rd and I usually choose Beacon of Ytar to get the reduced cooldown for the higher MP's
