Tinfoil hat theory: Has Blizzard set it so you almost never find your own upgrades?

Do you find better gear for the opposite classes?

So I've seen this pop up on the D3 general forums before and I've been thinking about it a bit lately. I figured why not ask the people with the most experience in seeing items drops. ;)

After 3 months of multiple bots I can all but confirm this is true (for me anyway). I run both barbs and monks and I always find the godly items on the opposite class. Finally this morning my Plvl100 barb bot found it's first IK Chest (which prompted my thoughts on this). Between my monks I've probably found 15 or so throughout their life. And this trend is true for almost all the "good" legendaries.

To add, I've been thinking about starting a Wizard for my next bot just for testing purposes. Also, the fact that between all my bots I've found some seriously sick Wiz/WD gear (perfect Witching Hour, near perfect Chantodo's, etc...) really makes me wonder what kind of gear I can find for the other classes.

So what are everyone's thoughts?

TL;DR - I find tons of barb gear on my monks and vice versa.

I noticed the same thing, when I was gearing up my characters I would ALWAYS find stuff for other class. I would just sell it and buy what I needed anyway. Hey, this is almost as good as a mephuser thread!

Of course you will. It kind of makes sense, from a statistical standpoint, that you'd notice gear apt for the 4/5 other classes more than the gear for the 1/5 that you play.

I have thought the same thing before. It's hard to believe that after many hours of mind numbing hand playing ~ 0 upgrades. *puts tinfoil MASK on*

In my experience over 4 bots I'd say no. I infact find my bots find the same items each day (minimum 50% similar legendaries each day). Yesterday I found 8 strongarm bracers, the day before was 6 litany of the undaunteds, day before it was 7 skorns :/ Still waiting on Pox day :p

doubtful, iv found almost all of my barbs upgrades like vile wards, ik irons, an awesome echoing fury, etc.... each of them worth 100's of millions.. but i have noticed as my paragon gets up in levels i havent been as lucky=O

While we are tin foiling...

I feel like my good-drops-per-bot go down each time I add a new running account to my arsenal.

@happysticks : I feel like you each time a minute has passed. I never have dropped so much shit, not a single 50m+ item for 5 days right now...

@op : I'd say no, my barbs often find some good barb items (not upgrades since they're really nice geared, but good gear anyway)

demonbuddy users have to be some of the most paranoid and retarded people.

HOW MUCH IS MY SHITTY ITEM WORTH
DID DROPS GET NERFED
HOW DO I NOT GET BANNED
IS THIS SHITTY ITEM AWESOME GG GOSU!!

pretty much sums up almost every thread on this forum, this included.

learn what the word RANDOM means, its not a hard thing to grasp -____-

All I know is I have 2 barbs, 1 bot and 1 main. the main i've hand played 400 hours, the bot has over 600 hours on it, and I've found 6 tals armors, 4 zunimasa armors, Nats armors in the double digits that almost always go for a low bid of like 5k because they all suck, and a few inna's armors as well, but never have I found an IK armor. I have been thinking this recently and I do believe that you find more gear for other classes than for your current class because blizzard wants to promote trade as well as the RMAH.

However statistically speaking with RNG it is very possible that I have been unlucky on certain drops like the IK armor, but why the hell have I found so many tal armors and zunimasa/nats.

Also I agree with Cem

"In my experience over 4 bots I'd say no. I infact find my bots find the same items each day (minimum 50% similar legendaries each day). Yesterday I found 8 strongarm bracers, the day before was 6 litany of the undaunteds, day before it was 7 skorns :/ Still waiting on Pox day"

it seems that even on a single bot I do find multiples of the same legendary or set item one night, or within a day or two of each other, even ones I don't find very often. For instance before 2 weeks ago I would rarely find tals armor, than all the sudden found 3 within one week, 2 of them the same night. Seems very strange to me and I do remember hearing something about how blizzard can change drop rates depending on how much of a particular item is on the AH, however they say they have not activated this feature. But would they have any reason to tell us if they had activated this feature anyways? They don't have to tell us if they did.

Edit: After I posted this I noticed while I was typing it I found ANOTHER Nats armor. thats 5 this week, not so sure about RNG

RNG is only as good as Blizzards word on it.

i truly believe that RNG is something used after "specific paramenters" have already been met.

proof of a system like this is MP. a simple switch an all drops are slightly modified .

to think that code was new, or compeltely from scratch (not taken from another internal process and re-glorified) is a long shot

Of course you will. It kind of makes sense, from a statistical standpoint, that you'd notice gear apt for the 4/5 other classes more than the gear for the 1/5 that you play.

This, your class ain't the only class.

irrelevant, lvl 82 here and got 3 ik chest armors 5-6 belts, 3 boots and 3 gloves also 3-4 helms between 20-35euro and one chest was 80euro

well i got 3 barbs. And ofc i find more gear for others coz there are 4 other classes

Say you are a barbarian.

There are a total of 5 classes, Barb, WD, DH, Monk, and Wizard.

That means you have a 1 in 5 chance of getting gear that is designed for you.

So yes, there is a lower chance that you would get something you would use rather than the opposite class... makes perfect sense if you think about it. However, I highly doubt blizz would make it to where you get your own gear less on purpose.

4 out of 5 times the item will be for another class. Well spotted, Sherlock.

I have another theory, theres special drops depending on the day.

You always get andariel visage, stormshields...
But the set ones? The better items? I think they depend on the day

I never get IK chest... then i get 2 on the same day.
I never find monk set pants... then suddenly i get three on the same afternoon

Same with tal rasha pieces, IK helms, and others i dont remember

i was wondering about the same when i made my monk and i found for all other classes. now ive made a barb and a WD, so now i find items to myself, but have to trade it around :)

On my barb i only found 1 item that i could use on the barb. on the monk nothing. WD nothing. but alot for other classes.
Blizz does that to make the most profit out of AH and RMAH. sooner or later gold from AH will end up on RMAH, that means profit to blizz

I've noticed that too.. and it's not just "rng" at this point. 3 nat's reflections in the last 2 days (woo hoo $$$) when I never saw one in the 2 months of 24/7 botting (db issues aside). Same with Stormshield - 3x dropped in 3 days. Other recent examples are 4x inna's temperance in 2 days, 3x IK irons in 3 days.

The thing is, this keep happening in waves. I'm botting 3 accounts - it's hard to notice on one bot only (although one night I found 4x fire walkers on the same bot), but when you compile drops across multiple bots, these patterns really really stand out.

A small sample of some trash I seem to find 2-3x of almost every night (I throw multiples of these near-daily) - Fire walkers, Inna's Radiance, Sun Keeper, Lacuni prowler's (sometimes really good ones w/ crit drop), Strongarm.

Blizzard is too smart not to be tweaking and monitoring drops internally.. It's one of the things they learned from WoW.
