100% Monitoring risk

I'm considering trying out Gatherbuddy. I can bring my laptop to work and have it running and keep an eye on it while doing other tasks. Will the constant monitoring help keep any buzz off of me and risk me getting banned? I'll be able to respond to players accusing me of using a bot. And I could always launder the items across several toons to list for selling to alleviate issues on the AH end. What do you think?

I'm not sure how you can have wow running while at work. Another option would to install an application like splashtop on your mobile device and check up on it every once in a while. That's what I do on my iPhone.

You can do quite a bit of filtering and not look bottish by using decline all plugin and bad boy levels addon, just set it to lower than your level (89) then that way they can't say you ignored their invite.

Like he said, it's the people that don't whisper you that you have to worry about. Best thing is to use a profile that doesn't make you look like a bot, aka don't run into something for 30sec, then try to go around it. Also not botting in very populated areas, and using big profiles so other farmers don't see you all the time helps as well.

If it's just whispers and grp invites you are worried about, like the others said, there are addons for that.

I can have it running at work because it's a family business I run.

I've considered the option of making a new account, powerleveling to 90, then using that to farm. That way I can feel more secure with my main account. Would that be recommended?

Don't bot on an account you don't want to lose. Not saying you will caught, banned or whatever but there *is* always the risk. Nature of the beast. But if you can't afford to or don't want to lose it then start another account yes.

You could leave your notebook at home (at companies they are blocking ports, so playing WoW without tunneling network traffic maybe difficult for you) and just use Sharp Messenger to chat with your Honorbuddy via Google Talk.

Hi,

I was extremely concerned about other players' reporting me -just as you are.

Some experience three aspets (1) Gathering, (2) Questing and (3) Grinding:

TLR --'Gathering' profiles: monitor a full cycle for blackspots, then low monitoring ok; questing: low montoring ok; Grinding: constant attention.

1.) GATHERING -- The bots are extremely good, but do need monitoring --at least at first. For example, I use AutoAngler2 (Botbase) to fish in Valley of the Four Winds; now by itself the Profile (by Gatherit) is awesome, it was 99% accurate --never getting stuck --but it did get stuck 100% every time on *one spot*. If I wasn't monitoring its first usage [the first few hours] I wouldn't have been able to spot the one bad 'blackspot' and tweak the .XML profile [myself] and permanently add an exception. Now I've done that I can be confident that my bot will not get stuck there again and I successfuly (though with some anxiety!) leave him overnight. This process has been applied to all of my gathering routines, as sure enough, there is one bad blackspot in an entire zone that needs tweaking. *The consequence* of not fixing that blackspot --my character was left 'jumping' stationary in the water, 5 yards away from a embankment he could walk up) --left me looking very bot like indeed! I'm sure if that I saw that myself I would instantly think 'bot'.

2.) QUESTING -- As for questing, I use Kick's profile and so far my only problem has been that some quests need manual intervention (like looting certain mobs, mechanics involving vehicles -etc). The character looks quite organic to be honest, at all times. When the Profile breaks down (as said, the Profile won't finish a quest) your character stays 'organic'; you won't end up running in a circle but rather run around killing mobs... and maybe progress your quest(s) albeit at a slower rate, but you don't look like a bot -you look like you're working on quests.

3.) GRINDING -- I would say, that Grinding bots and Profiles (acting in Pandaria) require the most monitoring. I've seen in the last 24 hours three call outs on /1 General Channel (with coordinates) to name and shame 'botters'. Out of curisoity I went to investigate and yeah, this 87 was grinding away on these mobs and it looked terrible. What ever bot, profile and combat routine this guy was using: it was shamefully obvious he was a bot. I am sure the profiles and Grinding botbase(s?) in HonorBuddy are more convincing than the happless idiot I saw in Valley of the Four Winds, but it did make me consider the risks and attention you draw from grinding in Pandaria for *any* amount of time -5 hours or 5 minutes, personally I would be monitoring.

I appreciate the info, thatwouldbestealing! I think I'm going to take the plunge and give this a shot. Would the 1 Session Elite Edition purchase be what I'm looking for? I don't intend to do excessive botting, just some basic stuff while working. That's the purchase for me, right?

I feel there's less risk if you keep an eye on it for sure, but as others have said there's always gonna be a risk no matter what since it's botting. I don't have a 2nd account so I have to bot on my main but I never leave it going 24/7 ... I think the max I've left it going was a couple of hours at a time with ArchBuddy since rarely do people bug ya while you Arch. I'm too paranoid to not watch mine most of the time lol.

If I had a 2nd account I'd totally leave the a farming profile running longer since I wouldn't be worried as much. Good luck with your stuff

I did notice one issue getting everything setup. It seems that most people swear by FPSware CustomClass profiles, so I downloaded and extracted the Paladin CC. It wouldn't show up in HB, and I did some reading and found out the filepath was changed to Routines. So I changed the filepath to \Honorbuddy\Routines\Fpsware Paladin, but still, it doesn't work.

Singular or CLU should do just fine for leveling. Wouldn't worry too much about that.

I'm now level 25 and had my first little scare. My toon got stuck while running through a town, and I just so happened to be taking a look when someone accused me of botting. I quickly handled the situation and it seems like he believed me, which is good. Whew.

Now, this is an entirely separate account that I made under a different name and e-mail address. However, I did mail some bags and 100g from my main account. Should I not have done that? After I did it, I realized how risky it might be, and I've decided to sever ties completely from here on out until it comes time to shuffle some stuff around.

Will all of that said, should I be okay?
