Is botting a monk worth it? Or switch to a barb?

Hi!

I only recenty started botting and it kind of feels like barbs are the better choice to go in terms of efficiency? I'm currently at lvl 6 paragon on my monk and trying to decide whether to stick to the monk or roll a barb while the monk is still a lowbie!

Thanks for any advice!

ps. I dont have any gold to gear up either character :)

Buy the gold to gear up. As far as I know, a WW barb is the only way to go to get high items per hour/ GPH/ high Exp, but it can get quite costly to build up because of the need to balance a good amount of life, dps and all resist.

A monk can make due with cheaper form of resist (arcane/fire etc.) on pieces where it can get quite expensive if it was all resist. To top it off, it is pretty much guaranteed you will get a 4 second invulnerability on every elite pack. With enough DPS, you will be able to kill 1/2 of the elites before the invulnerability wears off. I believe that's the reason why the link to the build above can run with low deaths per hour despite only having 25k life (at least that is what is recommended).

Overall monks would be cheaper to build if you follow the link above and achieve about 500+ items per hour if you just meet the requirements. But a WW barb will outshine monks any day if geared enough (can't beat sprint's insane movespeed boost), though it'll be really really expensive.

right now i have 5 monks and 1 barb doing a3 champions, and personaly i prefer monks over barbs, my monks have base 40k dps and base 45k hp and around 800 all ress ( give or take ) and have at least 1k loh or 2.xx lf and you should be fine, mine dies only if i encounter a nasty pack

Spend a little more on those monks, and double your dps! That way your items/h will go up and the extra investment will pay itself in no time :)

Monks can have up to 34% movementspeed and teleport while fighting. That are good points to stay by a monk. Barbs are not really dependend on gear like other classes.

My advise, get a 2nd account, Bot the monk and follow him with a new Barb to level. works great.
Get both to 60 and try to bot them together. That's my goal but haven't got it working yet, since I need a 2nd DB key.

I tried to bot a DH, it works but not great, have not used a monk yet. Barb's Rock it. Several classes together should better IMO.

deaths per hour, time to clear etc doesnt matter. only stat that matters is IPH. post your monk IPH.

My monk items per hour is 540 for the cheapest one.
I'm pretty sure a barb won't get that for 20m and I'm pretty sure that for under 200m you won't pass the 600 items an hour.

And the link given above assumes you deal enough damage to kill fast than you are killed. And it works perfectly if built properly.

Where do you find IPH? I would like to compare my barbs to my monks.

~600+ mil barb (excluding found items) with todays prices should yield you around 800 iph, which is mainly dependant on HOW you gear it. I personally do not have much experience with monks but afaik, barbs should shine at MP 5+ (should you bot at those levels)

May I ask what type of stats and skills would it require to run that WW barb? I know WW are great but haven't found a good build for it yet.

the same build everyy ww barb in the whole diablo 3 world uses? lol..

600m = 270 euro
Buy 2 accounts = 100 euro
Buy 2 DB = 60 euro
Make 2 monks and gear them up = 20 euro (40m together)
You have 90 euro left and you do over 1100 items per hour

well I don't understand I have a cheap ass warrior that is using sword and board and rend build.
he does very well and never dies.

what about this

Skorn - 1200+ DPS, 200+ Dex, 150+ Crit damage, Socket (Insert Emerald), 2500+ (Prefered over 3k) Life on Kill
2. Laucuni Prowlers (added moverment speed)

damn those cost and arm and a leg.

what does this mean 2500+ (Prefered over 3k) so in there 2500 > 3000 ???

I picked up a 1300+ dps Skorn w/ the above stats and 6k LoK for 1m last week just to give this build a try. Granted, that was a good deal and I bought it w/ 1d 12h left, but normally these only run 10m or so. Not bad at all. The lacuni are cheap if you don't go for resist all or crit damage. Get those stats elsewhere. Your main reason for the Lacuni is the movement speed. And for your LoK question, get as much as you can without sacrificing other stats. The more, the better.

Your comparing it at a different point of view,

Majority of botters wont spend that much (270 euro's) initially to gear their bot(s). That figure was to give you an idea of what Barb's gear would be "worth" at the 800 iph range. The reason i wrote "excluding found items", was to not skew the total. Generally, people start at a budget such as yourself then continue to upgrade accordingly until their bots are at max efficiency.

As I stated previously, if you scale item worth to MP level, barbs will do much better than monks. Which at that point you should 1 shotting mobs at mp2 anyways. whether or not you choose to bot at high mp's is up to you.
