I see a lot of useful information for doing Act 3 Inferno successfully scattered about. Feel free to post whatever you feel might be useful information to someone on this board. Most of this is going to apply to Barbs, whom I consider the best class for Act 3 Inferno. The goal of this thread is to create a comprehensive list of input from experienced Act 3 botters. I personally only use Barbarian, and for good reasons.
1. Use a Barb: Cheapest class to build for Act 3, but prices for Stormshield, Helm of Command and Justice Lantern are rising every day. Barbs are so incredibly easy to bot compared to other classes. I would consider Monk the second runner up, seeing as its the only real tanky alternative to Barbarian.
2. Tank Barbs do NOT need LoH or lifesteal. Revenge and Rend give plenty of healing.
3. Enchantress should be able to hit 50k hp and 5k dps really easily. Another thread on this forum explains how to reach 15k DPS (with 100+ mil gold, however).
4. Put treasure goblins on ignore if you have cheap gear. At 55k dps my barb bot cannot kill them.
5. Armor is 1/10th as effective as All Resist. That means if you find a piece of gear with 75 All resist and 300 armor, it's equivalent to +~105 all Resist. A potential alternative would be 75 All Resist and 60 Fire or Physical Resist. Personally I would choose 300 armor=30 All Resist>Physical Resist>Fire Resist>Arcane Resist. Physical damage is pretty hedged with block and I find that most of my deaths are to spells, so I would choose 300 armor over 60 fire or physical resist anyday.
6. If you are running a budget build, stick with both armor traits and Superstition. You will never die with 50k+ hp, even if you do 15k dps. However, I would suggest 30k dps fully buffed if you actually want to kill things.
7. Crit chance/damage are going to be your biggest sources of bonus damage.
8. Don't try whirlwind in Act 3 unless you're in 200+ million gold worth of gear. It won't work.
9. Set avoidance standards as LOW AS POSSIBLE! I find that my bot dies more time to getting stuck trying to run from an effect that wouldn't kill it than it dies from the actual effect. For example, I witnessed my bot hit 40% hp, trigger health globe pickup, run into the poison pool to pick up the health globe, instantly run out, then back in, then back out. It paced between the edge of the puddle and the safe area while eating fireballs from a ranged elite for a good 10-15 seconds, slowly losing health and never picking up the health globe. I decided to set my plague pool trigger health % to 40 and I reduced all of my trigger health settings to be as low as possible to avoid getting stuck. Rend/Revenge spam gives you a LOT of sustain through area effects. The only things that really aren't facetankable are arcane, plague hands, and desecrate.
10. Best Served Cold is a viable alternative rune for geared tank barbs (55k+ hp, 1200+ All Res, 40k+ DPS). Provocation gives you double chance to activate revenge, but what good does revenge spamming do single target? A high uptime 10% crit buff will increase single target damage and rend damage/healing.
11. Try to keep deaths under 2 per hour, any more and you are doing something wrong. 0-1 death per hour is optimal.
12. Barb stat priority for INTRO Act 3 botting: Vitality>All Resist>Armor>Strength>Crit Chance>Crit Damage>ASPD. Vitality is clutch for revenge tanking. All Resist is self-explanatory. Strength is great and important for Barbarians, but for botting, Armor is going to net you fewer deaths. For better geared and more advanced tank barb bots, focus on Strength as it scales well with high levels of crit, crit damage, ruthless and weapons master, which intro act 3 botters probably will not have.
13. I set my Kill radius to 40 and Loot radius to 60. Not sure if this is the "best," but it's what I've had the best results with. My trash radius is 20, however I would set it to <10 for whirlwind barbs as this allows you to agro trash without attacking it then aoeing it during elite packs.
Anyone who has information for other classes that they feel might be useful for setting up Act 3 bots is free to post in this thread. What I've posted almost exclusively applies to Barbarians. If you disagree with any of my points or I am misinterpreting a game mechanic, let me know. I do not consider myself to be a professional botter but I have been using Demonbuddy for a few weeks and I feel like most of the information I've posted here is not readily available on this forum.
