[Guide] Effective Gearing For Act 3 - Armor VS All Resist + Monk build

Hllo and thanks for your very efficient guide. I have a monk that could farm easily the act 1 champ but not the 3.

regarding your recommendations:

? 950+ All resist

? 8000+ Armor

? 1200 Life on Hit

? 45,000 HP

? 35,000 DPS


i got :

900 all resist
5k Armor (now i understand i need much more armor)
1400 LOH
50K Hp
1466 Dexterity
but only 12K dps :(

my sword is really weak (700dps, 800 loh, 150 dext) do you think i need to take a much higher dps weapon or also taking more dext (changing some of my gear)

Hey,
Yep, you need a lot more dex. Dex is your most valuable stat. It will give you damage, dodge, and armor (with passive), which are all stats you are lacking. Try to get 1900+ dex right now along with a better weapon.
Aim for a weapon with 950+ DPS, 700 LoH, and socket, with dex if possible, if not the LoH and socket is really the most important. Put a good crit dmg gem in the weapon and it will improve your dps massively

You need to upgrade your weapon and focus on crit and IAS.

I have similar dex to yours but almost 30k dps, 950AR and 8000+ armor. IMO dex is to upgrade in later stage given crit, crit dmg and IAS are cheaper and more effective to boost dps. You can usually get them with low dex. High dex with good stats costs a lot more. Which means if you focus in getting high dex items with ok stats, instead of decent stats with some dex, you are paying more for less. I am buying rings and amulet with high crit high IAS resist and dex/vit. Those costs around 2-10m, pretty cheap compare to trifacta.

Firstly your weapon needs a immediate replacement. Look for similar weapon with a socket. I think 800dps 800LOH 100Dex and socket only cost 1-2m now (used to be 8m+). Put a minimum flawless star in the socket, this will boost your dps a lot.

Then look for crit, crit dmg and IAS items. I prefer IAS over crit dmg atm given IAS = increased LOH as well, which is quite a hidden bonus. Once you have 30% crit and 150 something crit dmg, you should break 20k dps without a sweat.

Meanwhile probably farm Act 2 is a good idea.

Thanks to both f you for the tips. I think i have to spend 40/60 millions to reach the act3 build, i have to sell a lot of act1 loot to reach that (i can make 2 million/day max)...

If that were the case, Id gold farm for 3 days, 15m a day 500k/hr doing hell core+fields and then use that money to gear a monk for a3.
Just my 2 cents.
 
You can easily gear that monk for act 3 for 40m, it isn't that hard if you know what you're looking for!

You mean Core +field with a GOLD profil and Daemon buddy ? i though only VirtualSteroids "immortal bot" and Hellbuddy bot could farml gold (i used immortal for some weeks before the end of immortal)

i'm looking for this "gold" profil now !

i tested the gold farm on nightmare with my goldfarmer (barb 260GF/38 rad) i wont reac 15mill a day, at max 4/5, so what's your secret (or profile?)

You do not need that much. I just upgraded my helmet for 1m. I was thinking to post the cost of my current gears which should not cost more than 20m in total plus 10m gems. I only used ok gears and shit gems coz I don't wanna get banned and lost everything. When I get my money back I'll reinvest in good gears. Farming in Act 3 seems better than I expected, most of my death coz of arcane avoidance which is an issue to be fixed with the Trinity Plugin.

You need to play with AH. Rings and amulet cost more, everything else should cost around (weapon) or less than 1m. 20m gears plus gems should be enough to build an Act 3 starter monk :)
 
Anyway I just realise one thing guys... Firewalker boot works really well with LOH.. =)
 
From what i tested.. the ticks from the burning on the ground seem to work well with LOH.. especially against melee mobs.. i seem to have infinite life..
 
i got 1 question, if someone is nice to answear it.
I just changed weapon on my monk to a higher dps weapon.
Before i used 2x 1hand with 500LoH each and 1k dps each (about 45k dmg before)
But now i use a 2hand with 5,20% lifesteal, if my calculation are right i should get 624 life per hit now (60k dmg now) it should be 60 000 * 0,052 * 0.2 = 624
So i should get more life per hit now? or have i calculated it wrong? and did something stupid when i bought a new weapon.
