omg a full thread for 64bit QQ

cons:
64bit consumes more memory

pros:
faster ONLY if you use large data, database and/or use a lot of high-end math

Look at Adobe: (a bit larger software developer than Bossland)

(cs5/5.5)
Premiere - 64 bit only - huge files, lots of math
After Effects - 64 bit only - huge files, lots of math
Photoshop - 32bit, 64bit - medium files, lots of math
rest - 32bit only - small-medium files, some math

WoW client / HB - some data - some basic math

Adobe abit larger? lol Bossland is tiny a ant compare to adobe company :P But rest is true :)

People running 32 bit OS in a virtual machine: why? Can't you simply enable the virtualization mode of your CPU and run the 64 bit version? Just preference or "I don't care"?

P.S.
x64 does not exist =\ there is x86 and x86_64

32b WXP takes less resources than any other supported combination. Anyway, I don't see a point in running a 64b OS in a VM with 1-2 GB of memory.

There are none, just like running 32 bit. Oh yes, there is one: the licence cost. Usually a Windows licence (not OEM) allows you to install it on 3/5 different computers per time (at least the MSDN one), so you don't have to buy separate licences for your VMs.

Win 7 Pro 64bit. I acquired it from a certain bay full of pirates. I am building my new comp this week and it will be using the same thing. Almost everything is 64bit since computers need so much more ram than they did a few years ago. I don't understand the difference it makes in programs, like what are the benefits of 64bit WOW vs 32 bit?

64bit since i have that same number for RAM "my normal pc is 16Gb while this is 4 times that!"

The voting results made me laugh a bit...

I didn't even know the forums have that many active members.... LOL

I roll 64-bit for the simple reason of having 16GB of RAM.

Maybe the 1% of 32-bit users have got their hands on some secret version of Glider. :D

i have 64 bit

dont work my HB my version Honorbuddy_2.5.6187.420 when i starting the bot get wow ERROR

What proplem?

The difference between x86 and x64 for 99% of PC users is irrelevant really. Most users won't use over 2gb of RAM. (Plain and simple fact, no matter how you look at it)

Also, there is no reason to use x86 OS's anymore, since you can leverage the full x64 address space with as many x86 processes as you want, thanks to the x86 virtualization in Windows.

Also, x64 does exist, but most things are labeled x86_64 meaning "64bit emulation for 32bit processes" (or something like that). Basically; there's no reason to use an x86 OS anymore, but x86 programs are fine, unless you may actually use more than 3GB of memory from a single program.

Also, we don't (and won't until absolutely necessary) support the x64 client because it's a giant pain in the ass to deal with x64 assmbler code. (However, the change to the new memory library, and layout, etc, will allow that cross over much easier in the future if we do need to make that change)

I totally understand. The whole x64 architecture is a hack of a hack which was the 32-bit x86 architecture. And even the x86 architecture was a hack of the i286 design. And even that was a hack of the 8-bit Intel 8088 design. I had to take several classes in Microprosessor design and and that whole Intel CISC design is jacked up. RISC processors with Sun Microsystems and Silicon graphics were much easier to deal with.

On a side note though. I do use a lot more than 2GB of RAM for testing software in virtualized environments. :)

I used 32bit but since MoP patch came out my FPS starts decreasing dramatically on 32bit (starts off 70+ on Ultra then in about an hour its on around 8FPS) so when I play on 64bit I get over 100 FPS easily with no fuss.

Edit: Thought the title said 'What are you using for WoW? 32bit or 64bit?' --- I am 64bit Windows 7 9GB RAM

How can I change my wow from 64 bit to 32 bit cant find it bah.... :/
