I'm going to guess 4 at least...but only testing will tell. SSD might help things.
plenty at least 10 to 20.

dreams81 are you talking about with isboxer or using something like vmware? I find if I give one virtual thread for each bot the CPU stays pretty much at 100% but the bot can run ok. This allows for 8 bots (1 per virtual core). I'm not sure how one could get to 20. I'm using a i7-3820 with 32Gb ram (2Gb ram per vm) 180Gb SSD and a gtx 670 4gb.
I used to run 12 on a similar setup using isboxer with the differences being i7-3770/32GB. Pretty sure I had plenty of headroom left for more so I am sure you can achieve the same if you wanted. The only problem I actually ran into was the temps of my 580 and I am pretty sure it was because of the shitty cooler it had (was a evga). Recently I upgraded to a gigabyte 680 that has their custom cooling and no longer have problems.
you dont have to use vm dude when you can just have 10 different install directories of diablo3 and your spec should definitely be able to handle 10 bots ez. I wouldnt use vm its a waste of time.
20 is probably not going to happen so I went a little over board with that comment but 10 is definitely possible.
your video card and ram combo alone allows you do shit load of stuff on your pc.
