you can run it in a vm probably if it supports 3d acceleration, im not sure if the open source ones for linux do. but since theres no .Net framework for linux you wont be able to run it under wine.

ok would it lagg if i did it that way? i know last time i tried that with minecraft on an old comp it lagged like crazy.

and what about the game drift linux os? any clue what thats like?

but since theres no .Net framework for linux you wont be able to run it under wine.

Actually, there is : Mono

But I don't know if Wine proves adequate anyhow. Since Honorbuddy requires a bare 32bit WoW and DX9, you might run a lightweight Win XP inside a VM as CodenameG suggests (rather VMWare than Virtualbox, if you get the appropriate license. The former emulates a basic VGA card and the latter performs badly on Linux. I don't know about graphic performances under QEmu). Wine would be rather better performances-wise, but it'd probably be a pain in the ass to get it working flawlessly (kind of willing to make Kick's profiles AFKable from 1 to 85).

In either case, it won't run nearly as good as it does on your native Windows, mostly because GPU doesn't virtualize as CPU does.

If you have a separate Windows partition, you can also boot it in a VM from a Linux partition (works fine with WMWare Worksation, I hear it does aswell for Virtualbox and QEmu). It comes in handy when you're reluctant to make gigantic virtual HDD files, also Windows doesn't like the switches between different configurations.

I was just reading on the link tony posted that wow runs a little better on linux. i also found a version called game drift that is pre configured to run alot of windows games like wow right outta the box and im gonna try it out and see how it does with HB ill let everyone know what i find.

It runs fine when it's using OpenGL, but HB needs the game to use DX9.

Installed the game drift version of ubuntu 10.10 but i cant get anything to work =/

If it works under Wine, that's great! But we can't fully support anything other than Windows. (We don't have the manpower to maintain enough "stuff" to handle OS specific memory/thread wrappers)

Port it to Java so I can bot on my toaster.

Its not worth the headache
Either VM it or Windows it.

I run a linux server and trust me, setting up mono/wine/wow etc. for that tiny performance increase is NOT worth it.

it was such a pain in the ass to setup steam for linux, id hate to think of the support problems thats going to cause if we would have to make a linux version.

Ok.. Im a vivid Linux gamer..

Wow runs great under Linux.. But only under OpenGL...

Directx9 is required for Honorybuddy... Directx9 is not something you should ever care to use under linux..

VM it.. or dual box.

IF.. HM supported OpenGL, then i would say.. hey lets give it a shot.. but it dont.. and i dont blame the devs for not supported opengl...
