Win8 = Disaster, Truth or Tinfoil Hatter?

Who the fuck thought it was a good idea to turn the operating system for desktops into more of a tablet/phone feel system with boxy layout. at least thats what i saw of beta long time ago i never looked at it since.

Well, its not like i'd be paying for it anyway haha. I think last time i bought a OS from Microsoft was back in 98..

If i had a choice id be using Linux, but with the recent bans with people on Linux and wine kinda didn't wanna even attempt it.

Tried the RTM kick ? Dont think there is an alternate start menu, metro is all you get, unless i've missed something when i tried it. The kernel actually is good, low memory and cpu footprint, included hyper-v (no remotefx though), but the metro style menu is a deal breaker for me.

PS: one more thing, any1 tried hyper-v 3.0 on windows server 2012 with windows 8 guests? its supposed to support directx11 through remotefx, that may be a good alternative to vmware,

Metro really isn't that bad, I've been running the rtm of windows 8 since Aug1.. And I will never go back to any older version of windows. And I don't have anything special like a multitouch monitor or touch mouse..... I personally think Win8 is the best os MS has every released.
 
I tried Windows 8 for afew mins and I know I'm done with it. Still strong on Windows 7.
 
Windows 3.11 = Good

Windows 95 = rofl

Windows 98 = Good

Windows ME = whats worse then the worst thing ever ?

Windows XP = Great

Windows Vista = see Windows ME

Windows 7 = Pretty Good.

Windows 8=?

MS numbering is weird if Windows 3.1 was windows 3 then XP would of been windows 7 and windows 7 should of been windows 9.

Clearly, you haven't used computers for too long. 95 was always more stable than 98, it was used in corporations all the way up til stable NT, 98 was probably the buggiest OS ever made. ME was a reworked 98 which was a bit less buggy and a bit more user friendly. XP was the first decent Windows after NT. 7 is the first Windows that aced home OS.

As with all other Windows versions, it should not be used until SP1 for reasons of bug and security fixes and compatibility.

Good old 98, it was a standard format and fresh install every 3 months to keep the computer usable.

In many ways, the first Win 98 was the worst OS ever, worst even than Vista, until MS re-released Win 98 SE, which was one of the best...Windows ME wasn't that bad either, after it received some patches.

Everyone has a windows they liked, but 95 sucked ;) 98 was buggy but ended up being good. Windows ME was a joke anyone who used that should of been paid. XP was by far the best windows I even prefer it over windows 7 in some cases.

Anyway you look at it we have over 17 years of experience to know that windows 8 has no chance. The truth is they keep releasing windows because MS needs the revenue windows 7 is the perfect place to stop making new ones and just upgrading it with future patches. Windows 8 should of been just a tablet OS.
