First few things I noticed;
First and foremost, thanks for your input. I will try my best to keep this guide update as time allows. At present, no change is expected until version 1.2, where I would like the guide to include basic "How to PvP Gear" and "How to Gather" sections. ETA ~ 2-3weeks.
The wiki is a bit outdated (and I'll update it later tonight on the points below)
^^^ This is partly why I built the guide, and partly because I believe a product should have a single guide that walks them entirely through the basic setup. While the Bot itself is much easier in general than any bot I've ever used, and the community is more supportive, there is still a learning curve. For example, when I first loaded the bot, I couldn't find anywhere on the forums what to put into the mount box (under settings). Then how to install and how CC's worked was spread across 2-3 different guides. Simple issues like that.
1) Please make sure you explain that your guide is using WinRar and Firefox for downloading/unzipping. All of our files are zipped with a standard Zip format, so any application (including Window's default unzip folder) can unzip the files.
There is no compression on this guide. It is standard adobe .pdf format (the most common document format in the world!). I will include on the front page a link to the
adobe reader website if for some reason anyone does not have adobe. It is built into some browsers now-a-days (like Google Chrome).
2) Its not recommended to install HB in the same folder as WoW anymore. (This was to fix some bugs with old plugins, but they've since been fixed to not use absolute/relative paths, and will pull paths properly now) People say to install it with WoW, just so you know where to find it, but you can install it anywhere you like. (I put mine on my desktop, and another copy on an SSD for my large bot farms. [I/O is expensive no matter what we do, so the faster the HDD, the faster the bot])
3) Explain that the change to force run as admin, is optional. Users just need to be aware that running as admin is required by OS's newer than Vista. (WoW also needs to be run as admin)
I will update these two points with v1.2 (that both of these suggestions are optional). However, it should be noted that my was written as a compliation of the wiki, everyone of the guides on the forum (which applied to this basic guide) as well as many support threads. I did not see that #2 or #3 was optional any where! Another reason why a
single BASIC guide is a must IMO!
4)
Singular (v2) is packaged with Honorbuddy. Its in constant development, and supports nearly every class/spec. (We package ShamWoW with HB as well, because its simply too awesome to not do so. I don't think anybody will be able to compete for quite a while)
I am using HB with 3 classes at the moment and Singular is not sufficient for any of them. As such, I will not include an explaination for it in the guide, maybe other than to say just that ("HB is shipped with a very complex multi-class CC which works for some, but it is still recommended to view the CC forums to see which CC will work the best for your needs")
5) It takes 3 minutes of non-activity for a session to close automatically. (If you close the bot by the "X" button, then the session will be terminated immediately. If the servers are overloaded, this may not always be the case. However, that's a 1% chance)
I'll take your word for it... I got this info by logging in and out of my HB over and over. I will update in v1.2.
6) Please make a note that the auth portal accounts, are NOT the same as forum accounts. (They are completely detached web sites. For security reasons, and due to how vB handles logins (ugh)) Users will need to register an account to use the auth portal.
I thought my Troubleshooting section addressed this, but it does not mention the need to create a new account for Auth portal. I'll update w/ v1.2.
Overall, very well done. I think the font is a tad too large, but that's personal preference. (Having like 5 lines of text for an entire page makes it seem a lot longer than it actually is.)
I agree... if you view the PDF at a lower zoom it actually looks quite nice, but it looks way to big when you zoom into see the font on the pictures. I'll mess with it some before the next release.
Again, thanks for the comments... I welcome any further additions...
