Hello Everyone -

I have been writing questing profiles for myself and others for awhile now and the amount of effort that goes into my work has become monopolizing. So - I have an idea.

Create a botting plugin that will assist in writing questing profiles as you quest.

Here is how I see it working - programmers, beat up the idea and please post some comments.

You can start a character fresh, or use an exhisting one, at any level and start the quest builder plugin.

1. Set "start quest" - by selecting a quest and accepting it the quest ID and location are stored in .xml format.
2. Move to target(s) - once you have achieved the quest or part of the quest that location where the quest is completed is saved, giving you your "go to" location.
3. At the completion of the quest (while still away from turn in) the bot will wait for the turn in to complete. Giving it the "turn in" location.
4. Any special actions needed, items to be used, would be written as a "use.itemID" to the profile. This can also be done by hand by imputing a function into the profile in real time using the UI from the plugin.
5. This process could be repeated numerous times for as many quests as needed. Also, picking up more than one quest at a time would be written sequentially.

I have attached an image of the idea i mocked up in MockingBird.

This would be a great idea, it could also log vendors, mailboxes etc...

Yes -

Directly under WoWHead there should be two buttons -

1. Add Vendor - Hoorah!
2. Flight Path - Action to fly to another zone or area command.

The link tree above "Useable Items in Inventory" is a fast and easy way to switch between all the subprofiles within the master profile.

MORE IDEAZ PEOPLEZ!!!

Thanks!

This would be an amazing idea :D

And it doesn't sound too difficult.

Yep that is a great idea and you could even use say the leveling guide Zygor and it would make the questing even easier as it recorded the info to the bot. Great idea though!

P.S. Even I could make a questing profile (cause I am not smart enough to do it by hand) ;-)

Sorry to hijack the thread, would be great for an auto meshing program that meshed where you went only when playing by hand, this could save a file, upload it to a central directiry and then rebuild meshs with only good data, we would have perfect meshes than :0

Great ideas guys -

I don't know if the meshes would save or not but its worth asking the Devs.

There is one thing that always gets me - 60+ and flying.

Logically, going from point A to B will be done in the fastest manner, in the most direct way, "As the crow flies". So I think this plugin should include any mounting that is done and record airborne flight information. Like a way point every 500-1000 ms. would be ideal. Personally when I used GB back in the day all my profiles were 300ms, kept from the knee jerk turns that screamed "BOT!!!".

This could also be used for PVP profiles - because we all know the AV profile is so easy to pick off who is and isn't botting just by their path. Gotta love watching 10 people running in a pack, making the same turns at the same locations, etc. It still could use the logic of BG bot but FFS use a different path than the rest.

I have no idea if you can implement this to the plugin or if it would have to be done in HB's core.

1. If it would be possible, to re-instate the QuestId box the devs removed because it was obsolete? Wtf? The technology to get quest information WITHOUT HAVING 'DEM QUESTS IN YOUR LOOOG is obsolete? You could just get the info and continue to write.

2. Getting the X Y Z of vendors, quest npcs etc without having to be at their actual location. Would make my life SOOO much easier when creating quest profiles. I put out soooo much FlyTos and it would be easier just to pull out the npcs location from HB's database and put that in.

Exactly Megser,

I didn't understand their logic behind removing it either. But - I am sure they have their reasons, just wish they would have updated it with something instead of removing it completely.

Having it give XYZ locations locations of vendors, quest npcs, etc is something I hope to push them to automate. The ability to "play the game" while in the background building a living quest profile is without saying a thing of beauty and finesse.

Ontop of all this - profile building, quality, and overall options when it comes to profile building will improve, giving each person the ability, novice or not, a way of donating their time and knowledge to the larger picture.

There's a lot of room for improvements to stay "ahead of the curve" and I do believe this is the next step.

Alright so this is a bit of a /bump.

Ontop of that I have been writing some questing profiles that I honestly think we could use a plugin like to to evolve the experience beyond the 'harder" core programmers and into the realm of users who can manipulate a UI.

This is a good idea. We need to take a honest look at this, please.
