Level up from gathering?

How reliable is gathering when trying to level up for e.g

Level 70-80 just straight gathering? is it slow?
 
never tried but but what i have heard from people here on the forums is slow
AB will give nice results on leveling

Level 80 to 85 via gathering is not too bad if you are in the appropriate Cata zone with decent green or blue gear. You can effectively stay in the same zone from level 80 to 85 harvesting herbs and ores. You can accomplish the same thing from 60 to 70 and 70 to 80 in Outland and Northrend zones if you like. Both methods will take longer than leveling via questing, battlegrounds or arch with the big difference being that it is much easier to sell Cata zone herbs/ores than the old Outland/Northrend mats in bulk. My opinion would be to use the questing, Arch or battlegrounds to get to 80 and then spend a leisurely 5 levels harvesting and make a nice bit of gold while you level. The beauty is that with old world flying you can skill up both herbalism and mining in a couple hours to get to Cata skill levels if you have not done so as you level.
 
if u do this i would advise u to use multihack 1.5.2 by jens from mmowned forum

just make sure u stop using it every tuesday cuz the hack creator isnt that good with security lol
