Prospecting in 4.1?

Is that nerf to gem costs still in there? I dont see it in the patch notes on mmo-champion or the PTR notes, so I'm hoping they didnt nerf the cost of gems cut from prospecting obsidium/elementium?
 
According to mmo-champion it is, and they're usually right.. so I would assume bot be down for a day or whatever.. just curious about the prospecting I didnt see it in the patch notes anymore.
 
They're just lowering the price you can sell gems to vendors. Shouldn't really make much of a market impact.
 
Well from what I understood, you could prospect obsidium (maybe elementium) and get at least 54g per stack of 20 back after cutting the gems and selling to vendor, which should have kept ore around 54g, which when I was leveling 80-85 using obsidium it seemed to be around 50g, but if the price of gems is becoming cheaper then that would mean the value of obsidium would go down right?

I'm not sure how it works for elementium since I see elementium from 30-45g a stack.. I was hoping they took it out of the patch since it isnt in the notes though.

My herbalists have been doing SHITTY this week and I've been wanting to swap to more miners.
 
My understanding, the Gem price cut was never in the Patch Notes.. it was a 'silent' update. Basically , you use to get 9g when vendoring cut cata gems. now you will only get 75s each. But you still get 5g for uncut.. so its not a total kick in the privates.
 
Ohh okay, good thanks, 5g isnt that bad. My herb toons only pulled in about 9-11k/day this week and my miners were doing 15-20/day so I'm thinking of swapping to miners, and probably expanding to 3 more farmers so needed to figure out which prof :P I know this week was hard to sell cinderbloom, even saw it hit 11g a stack but hopefully that was related to DMF.
 
I'd confirm on the PTR but its having issues as the abililty to log into it is almost as bad as norml WoW the day after an expansion.. won't work LOL

Anyone else have PTR setup and be able to get in to confirm this? My guess they are starting to wind down to take offline for the roll out
 
Yep I was finally able to get onto the PTR.. it is confirmed to be: Cut Cata Green Gems Vendor for 75s while Uncut Cata Green Gems Vendor for 5g.
 
So it should cut the price of which I want to buy ore at by like 44%
 
Well 54g was the bottom price for Obsidium ore since you would get that much from prospecting 20 ores into green gems and cutting those and vendoring for 9g each.

So now its going to be 30g per stack of Obsidium ore since green cata gems still vendor for 5g each raw. a 45% drop in your profit margin basically. But its still better then going from 9g to 75s.

Why? Are there new gems to be gotten from it? I don't think epic gems are in yet, are they?

Otherwise I don't see any reason why Pyrite would skyrocket.
 
Epic Gems are not available yet from prospecting are not available yet. And have yet to be discussed by Blizzard officially. People are assuming Pyrite will become the new titanium in regards to Epic Gems if they do come out. There are some people that have been saving up an entire GV worth of Pyrite (5 tabs +) for the time it happens..

otherwise i dont have any real use for pyrite unless you make belt slot from bs.
