many have jumped due to the lack of Speedy updates or the many bann waves that have happened through out wod. or people like me keep a rotation bot on the back burner for times like this when hb takes 2 days to release a new version.

Patches don´t apply when the game is still running, but once it detects not running the files is copied in, thus keeping it running is ok.

Actually, we don't know how anything really works. All we can do is guess. I'd also rather wait for an updated and tested HB release than risk anything.
