The pet builds are more often than not the best botting build since the bot doesn't have to do much at all. Probably you have some incorrect settings or need to customize the code a bit to your liking.
+1 on this.
Pet builds may use the game's pet AI, which can do things like attack minions rather than elites... but that's all good because your bots avoidance should be keeping you moving and out of harms way.
Here are some D3 Planners I made with some
Pets Variants:
*Any build with Leeching Beasts can benefit from Life on Hit in any place that it can roll as an affix, but you don't need a ton of it.
**The Tasker and Theos and Mask of Jeram are interchangeable as long as you have the 6 piece helltooth bonus, and one if worn, the other is in the cube
Gargantuan +
Homunculus +
Sacrifice Build:
Gargantuan +
Henri's Perquisition:
*This build is using Life on Hit in the ring slots, but that can be changed out to Int, Vit, or Area Damage as needed.
**Area Damage should be above 100% if you can.
I have seen some people using the Uhkapian Serpent for the mojo as well, but I think Henri's is better.
I have had good luck with the
Helltooth FireBats build, here is a D3 Planner I made for it:
- Diablo III Character Planner
- You want pretty standard rolls on most items: Int/Vit/Armor/Life%.
- Attack Speed, Area Damage on Weapon/Rings/Shoulders/Gloves
- Firebats Damage on Boots
- Fire% on Bracers and Amulet
- Beneficial Secondary Stats: Health globe Pickup Radius, Health Globe +life, and secondary resistances (Physical is best).
You can also try the
Arachy's Firebat alternate if you choose:
For
Speed Runs, you can modify your Pet Build pretty easily. Just change out your weapon and Mojo to a Manajuma's Set:
**For higher Torments, you can leave the Furnace. For lower torments you can change it to Thing of the Deep or anything else you desire.
Edit:
Here is some information for a temporary Soul Harvest fix:

Getting about 90-100b/hour with NF+GF mix mode.
Using the lastest version of Trinity (2.41.41), and make sure use the following settings for Trinity :
1. In Combat -- Misc -- Trash Mob Settings - Ignore Trash further away than -- 5.0 (this wil temp fix the Soul Harvest problem, will keep 10 stacks of Soul Harvest which provide you enough toughness for face-tanking the mobs)
2. Uncheck "Extended trash-kill range after combat"
3. In Avoidance -- Ground Effect -- Select All
4. In Avoidance -- Advanced -- Measurement Radius -- 30.0
Just in case if I missed some settings above, I put my current Trinity setting profile in attachment. Put this to Db\Settings\Saved\ and then use the Import button in Trinity bottom left of main window.
