I've been skimming over the forums reading the reports from the latest waves/hammer drops and I got to wondering if anybody has had or heard of any success with paying for a Character Transfer in order to avoid getting banned?

I know it's impossible to foresee incoming bans but hypothetically if the hammer were to drop the middle of each month and one was to move their toon from one account to a completely different account (an account that has never used a bot) if it would be of any help avoiding the hammer.

Just asking for everybody's $.02 on the matter...

I dont think that this is a way to avoid a ban. First of all u never know when it could hit you but even when u transfer the char to another account right after u have been reported or caught Blizz attention somehow else, they will track down the char and maybe even decline the transfer and move it back to the other account and ban it.

Imho its a waste of money.

noone knows, but imo, doing so will lead to you losing 2 accounts instead of 1. Noone knows if blizz flags accounts, characters, both or any combination of things. Any way you look at it, blizz will know that a character was transferred.

True but if it's a basic starter setup ($20 Nilla>MoP...sometime $10 if one catches the sale) it would seem a minor investment for a 50/50 chance at avoiding the hammer. HOWEVER as I and others have already said it's impossible to predict/see any hammer coming.

I'm tempted to xfer an alt to a clean account and just park it as a backup just in case so I don't lose all of the work (not to mention $) I've put into the game over the years... :p

They flag the account that's logged in

They do have logs of any transfer of course

In my experience (the only 2 times ive been banned (ban wave) since 2010.

If you xfer the toon to a new account before the ban happens (even the same day) you should be fine.

The ban wave middle of last year- I finaly got the Raven mount to drop but it was on a Alt battle.net I was using as it had some free game time- So I xfered the toon over to my main account, to "use" the mount and add it to my mount list on my main account.. The very next day the ban wave happened.. The monk was never banned for anything.

ok ... you want to avoid perma ban ? this is how you do it.
first rule DO NOT SELL GOLD, they will ban you for that every time perma
BUY STUFF ... if your a client ... pay subscription ... buy some Bnet products from time to time. they will never perma ban you.
i`ve been temporary banned several times but never perma banned on my account.

This is completely false, i spent close to £400 on the Blizz store, and my account was still perma banned :)

This is completely false as I was a part of the 5/13/15 6-month suspension wave even though I had literally started RaF with a real account (not botting on the friend/RaF account) the week before and paid for a couple pets and 3 months of time a week prior to the wave and still got the hammer. I would think the only reasons it wasn't a perma ban was because it was a first-time offense not to mention over 100,000 other accounts also got the hammer at the same time.

why was it perma banned ? how much were you boting unsupervised ? were you selling gold ? did you at any time sold gold ?

Let's keep the useful information in this thread and the frivolous retortion out. Also there's no need in asking for clarification on something I said in plain English.

from my experience they ban every account running on your computer. i have had accts that never ran the bot or anything to do with the gold banned all at once. could have changed in todays age. i stopped hardcore botting when Gold started selling for pennies. Spend more on electricity and time baby sitting and bans than you make botting 20-30 accts lol

you guys can sit here and speculate all day, the end result will always be the same. you cannot know how they decide to ban and who ever says that he knows is talking bull.
i`ve been playing wow for many many years and boting for as many years as i played. and i`ve seen many bans on this forum. personally i only had a single 24 hour ban in all this time. call it luck or call it experience :), but even i cannot say 100% how blizz admins decide to ban.
