Now before this turns into a troll post, I will ask the admins to delete it the instant it does!

There, now that I have that out of the way. As a new user to HonorBuddy, I have had a few problems come up with the program that usually I can figure out and fix myself. However, there's been a few that I couldn't and have posted asking for help with them. Some of the replies were clear and very polite, whereas there have been others that seem to assume that I am 3-5 years old and have no clue to check the common sense fixes before posting on the forums.

And I'm not the only one that gets these types of replies. I've seen posts about the same issues I have had, and usually found the answer I was looking for, after I sifted though a bunch of posts treating the OP like an idiot.

Guys, not all of us have been using HonorBuddy for years and are pro's with it. So cut us some slack and be patient. Explain it for us so that we don't feel like we are sub-human. You were like us one day and had to learn just like we do.

Now I get it, there are some really stupid people out there that no matter how clear you make something, they just don't get it, and that can be annoying as hell. But that's not all of us.

I'm sure this post is mostly directed at me, and I'm absolutely fine with that...

Let's be clear about something. If you claim that you've already tried "obvious" solutions, and react in a snarky way when you get called out on it, you're going to get people telling you how silly you sound. No, noone expects you to know everything. BUT, people expect you to at least have read the rules as well taken a look at the stickies provided by the HB team. If you're too lazy to do something so basic (and OBVIOUS), be prepared to get told you need to do something different.

This is the internet, it's not an elementary school. If you can't handle being told things in a direct and firm manner, you may want to try other venues that are a little less varied.

Not a single person that actually reads my posts (including the forum mods) would claim that I'm a fanboy of HB, nor would anyone ever claim I'm a brown noser...The fact that you claim such things shows how little you understand about the things I post.

You are so angry about HB and wow, yet you continue to come to these forums picking fights. Don't be surprised when your attitude leads to a temp ban. It sounds like its exactly what you need to chill out a bit.
 
lol rytfobuddy is not a fanboi of hb nor against it. he just says it how it is without lies, wild theories or baseless crap. Though I will hope to one day see him put a smiley face in one of his threads :D

As for respecting new users, internet forums are all the same new users get trolled sometimes by some people it cannot be stopped these are the times we live in.
 
it is at the end of the day in benefit to everyone if the new users aren't ran off the forums. Most of the older users already own the CR or products they need from this site. The only way mods and devs will be motivated to continue growth of their product is if there is someone out there to market to.

Actually this is a general post, you pointed me in the right direction and I appreciate that. However, I have seen posts made by other people where some of the replies were just downright rude and mean. I have tough skin and can take it, but to some new users, the general vibe can be just a little "elitist" at times.
 
I'm always helpful -to new users and oldies alike! ;)

But yes I wholeheartedly agree, forums are by definition a place to come and ask questions, and discuss and as such should never be a place of intimidation.

HonorBuddy like most hobbies can be as simple or as complicated as you make it, and we should support users of all levels alike.

In my experience, the ones that intimidate are usually just doing so to accomodate their own insecurities. So when you see one, try your best to ignore them. *wink*

You have not personally been rude to me about anything, but browsing the forums as I generally do most days, it is very apparent that you feel the need to be a asshat to most people. We get it, you are one of those people who are perfect in all aspects of life, however, most of us are not. There really isnt any reason to lurk the forums trying to find a post that you can push someone to the ground in. I don't generally say a whole hell of alot about much anything here, or in general, but I have now. New users, as well as old, post silly things all the time. I constantly see your username pop up in various threads giving people hell. How about we be a little more helpful and direct them to the areas they can find said information instead of pushing them away. A little kindness goes a long way.

I get that people get a bit trollish around here, but alot of problems people have with HB are the most simple little things like forgetting to adjust a single setting or screwing up one tiny piece of code. If you can't accept that people are going to suggest things that seem like common sense to you then how do you expect anybody to have any patience with you?

As I said in the other thread, if you don't want to be told to do obvious thing, state that you've already tried obvious things.

You clearly don't have tough skin, if you truly did you wouldn't have posted this thread. I would say 99% of the issues you are facing have already been addressed on the forums with a solution.

I am pretty sure the OP is putting the issue out there for the users, new and old, who feel people are often very rude. I agree with them as well. No reason for it period. We are a community and a community should lend a helping hand when possible. A simple link with the correct info is a start. I am not saying hand everything to everyone on a silver platter but 75% of the time, we are at the other end of the spectrum with help here.
 
Ryfto and I have had lengthy battles waged on these forums with trolls and the like, sometimes hes abrasive but most of the time he is quite patient and helpful if you let him know what you did or didn't try so he can problem solve your issue for you.

With that being said, there are MANY users who will pile on the "look at this scrub, hes gonna get his account banned because he's such an idiot" bandwagon that ends up getting threads locked or derailed.

In every group/culture/society there are going to be asshats, we just happen to belong to a very intelligent group that is able to discuss the merits of asshattery and how far is too far.
 
I just ignore the trolls...and don't try to feed them, they like it when someone argues with them... Some think that they are intelligent or smarter than everyone else...but in reality they are just trying to overcompensate for their lack of intelligence. At the end of the day what does it matter that you insulted someone on a forum?
