"Open Letter against Botting"I want to AFK

Botting to get to top of the leaderboard is despicable.

Botting to get the items you need so you can enjoy the game without sucking the life out of you is a different story.

Botting to compete with legit player is an unfair advantage and I do agree.

Also, let us all agree on one thing, this game is retarded about the drop rate and it requires you to sell your souls in order to get something decent without botting.

They arent banning botters for several reasons, most of which have been mentioned here. They are waiting...

See the last ban they had was a 6 month ban from wow. Many of you came to Diablo 3, Starcraft, Minesweeper, or whatever game ...just biding your time... That ban hammer is coming shortly before that 6 month ban from world of warcraft is up. Watch their subscriptions fly in!

They are thanking DB, by not banning anyone. lol

I have no stance on this. If they start banning botters will just be more careful and I don't mind that.
I feel some sympathy for people that truly like the game and wish it were totally clean.
However... it's hard to take that message seriously from people like Alkaizer who plays like fucking 18 hours a day legitimately and streams it because he makes ad revenue... he's not doing it for the love of the game. He's only complaining because he's already got a nice comfy position streaming to the last of the community that actually cares about the game and just wants to make it easier.

It's entirely statistics. They're sitting there looking at the numbers.

How many people watch streams.
How many people are only playing because they can bot.

They're constantly weighing the pros and cons and obviously they've determined that pretending not to notice the botters is making them more money right now. As soon as it changes, they'll do a ban wave.

Mate you should try diablo 2, the drop rate there was far worse yet it remained the best RPG game possibly of all time.
 
I agree that as soon as something changes, ban wave... it's close to Blizzcon, they aren't going to do a ban wave before it because it could hurt the event pay-per-view sales. There has been talk about a possible expansion, if they announce that, then I'd expect the ban hammer to be swinging.

Honestly anyone who wastes more then 80-100 hours max playing D3 manually is just wasting time. I would have no problem taking D3 seriously with a group of friends or whatever, maybe getting up to para 500 or so on my own etc. But after that? Fuck that, Paragon levels slow down so much, Gear is insanely hard to get bis. I have botted 500hrs on my new WD since making him this season and hes got me over para 1100 so far starting around 680 and hes still missing 1 ancient slot. Paragon 700-1k+ its like 50b per level, obviously no one REALLY bothers to get levels at that point they only by chance get high paragon level because they are farming gear/grifts whatever and exp comes as bonus. I don't understand how ANYONE can take D3 as a hardcore 12hr a day+ time investment. There is no AH, there is no trading, there is no PVP. Its a single player game with battle net to talk to people.

I will tell you this... 70+ is the minimum for top of the leaderboards.. and the bot wont get you there.. [After extensive research, which involved a "right click" and selecting "View Leaderboards," I was able to ascertain that GRifts as low as 67 ARE on the Leaderboard, 68 will get you into the top 700, 69 is top 500, 70 is top 400, 71 is top 200, 72 is top 100, etc. You will need a 79 in order to challenge for number one. I apologize for my original comment as this revelation in right-clickery was previously unbeknownst to me]

So if you run a high enough GRift while playing by hand, you have earned it. Maybe you didn't earn the gear but you deserve some credit for completing the GRift anyway.

The current top 100 on the Leaderboards [especially streamers] have Ancient, Best in Slot items with near-perfect rolls..

ive got a few of them on my flist and they running 18-20 hours a day but only stream for 8 so a like i said at least 2 of them are still botting and the 3rd one i know bout already got 1 acct banned for bots and exploits, its just really funny that they tagged there names on that post. now to be honest they do have some real high GRIFT completions non botting but we all know how they got all that gear to play manual lol and get in the top 5.
 
When reading it I compare it to the analysis of the university professor that prepared the report for the honorbuddy case. In this, although the report is for MMO's, it is stated:

• Bond to an advanced game Avatar is stronger than that to a weaker.
• A stronger bond to the Avatar game increases motivation and the experienced Entertainment in the game. This leads to a longer time of use.

There is a much longer list ofc, but some player would not even play the game without a bot. I wonder how a botter/bot could actually harm the gameplay or COMPETITIVE (lol) gameplay of a game Blizzard itself doesnt really care about.
 
I would like to see them fix botting, but that means making the game interesting enough to warrant not using a bot. I can burn through 2k deaths breaths in a few mins of crafting an upgrading, which takes my bot half a day to a near day to farm. Why in gods names would I want to play for 12+ hours of solid farming to get absolutely nothing to show for it. I really don't see the issue with botting, how does me botting effect the game in anyway? The only real issue I see is server instability, having thousands of players logged in constantly will create strain on the server for sure. Leaderboard is a joke anyway, not sure I see the point in caring about it. Botting isn't even the best way to go for leaderboard anyway, you need a group of 4 neck-beards to farm paragons in high grifts to get there.

The look of "oh fuck" when he woke up and turned off the stream was classic. Sure looked to me like he was using the shitty free bot atleast.

Cmon, you know we aren't supposed to post that information on the forums. Regardless of their denial of botting, it's not cool to ask or post such information.

I think you could safely assume that MOST streamers are gearing or grinding in their non-stream hours with bots. Any who aren't are wasting their time.

You can definitely look up the "Brother Chris" reference for some lulz.

I think his reference is to watching the bot's performance in the video. It is clear that the bot is doing some wonky things that a well tuned and setup DB doesn't have issues with.
