Yeah, we don't really have a decent source of water clusters.. Even Caimans are mooched.. like this would be a decent image of my average cycles XD

http://puu.sh/kBCvM/1a1b682e29.png

And even then, I'm lucky if they don't all end up being seaborne sand

Hmm. I had a lot of coincidences, or didn't pay enough attention probably. It seemed I got lower values for reduction using chum over patience. Like mining, we want 2/8 or 3/8 for the most clusters if I remember correctly. More than that and we get sands instead of clusters. I could be totally off base on this line of thinking, but that was my hypothesis when I wrote the comments.

:( Are you saying higher HQ chance has no correlation to collectible quality? It seemed like if I had an HQ fish it would be higher collectible value, thereby being higher on the reduction value. Again, just a hypothesis and coincidence possibly. Data set too small.

.

So fishing works like this. There is a minimum and maximum ilms each fish can be. There is also the HQ threshold number. Say Illuminati Perch. the min Ilms is around 300? I forget the actual number but that is probably close. The max Ilms is close to 1000. The HQ threshold is about 830. Every fish you catch that is HQ will be 830+. And the turn ins for scrips 826+. Hopefully I am being accurate here as I don't have a set of data sitting in front of me.

Makes sense. Since we aren't turning these in for scrips, and instead reducing them, wouldn't a fish that was not HQ and thus not towards the top of the possible ilms be more likely to be a 2/8 or a 3/8 when it comes to reduction?

Yep, seems about right. At times I wonder if unspoiled is faster than fishing for clusters for that one particular element. I'd still choose to fish most likely, I feel the risk is substantially lower of being reported from fishing than mining unspoiled. If I could sit and watch, it'd be a tough choice.

Being caught gathering clusters in the old world is such a small chance..especially since you can remove stealth form the profiles now. But you can still only get 90-120 clusters every 70 minutes from mining and botany combined.

^ This. When I first started reducing items, I did a double-take. I was like, "Wait. I just obtained the amount of clusters from one item that used to take an hour IRL to gather. What the...?!"

Aren't there 2 more fish we can reduce that aren't in the profile?

its just offputting to see the things required to fish up one thing cost like 11k or so. Its not about the crafting mats to make it and stuff, I just don't even understand how it works. 1 bait catches 1 fish isn't it? And if I were to spend 11k to fish up one thing to aetherial reduce, will the profit that I gain surpass that? That is why I am clarifying with people who have actually used this profile before. Seabornes sell for 4-6k and water clusters are 400 each, going by the nature of RNG and what not, I might not even hit 11k or so. And why would I ever run this over ephemeral BTN/MIN when that one requires 0 investment apart from cordials which are dirt cheap.

Do you even fish bro? <chuckle>
Let me try to clear a few things up for you. First, lures such as goblin jig and bladed steel jig are not used up in one cast unless you get very unlucky. Second, btn/min produces different elements to fishing, and the rare sand is different as well.
This is all very basic stuff.

Plenty of ice to be had, so I'm guessing you mean water.
The other 2 water fish are:

Dravanian Bass (Reduction Level 56)
Location: Dravanian Forelands, Whilom River (29, 15)
Time: 12AM - 6AM
Weather: Fog, Clouds, Dust Storms
Catch Method:
Goblin Jig -> Dravanian Bass (Straight Catch)
Stonefly Nymph OR Purse Web Spider -> Blueclaw Shrimp -> Dravanian Bass (Single Mooch)

Thaliak Caiman (Reduction Level 60)
Location: Dravanian Hinterlands, Middle Thaliak River (21, 22)
Time: 3PM-6PM
Catch Method:
Goblin Jig OR Bladed Steel Jig -> Sweetfish -> Thaliak Caiman (Single Mooch)
Stonefly Nymph OR Purse Web Spider OR Bladed Steel Jig -> Bullfrog -> Thaliak Caiman (Single Mooch)

The Bass isn't bad given the right weather. I haven't hooked up to skywatcher yet though.
The Thaliak caiman is the other possibility, it's a 3 hour window, one of which is shared with the other caimain.

I'm also trying to find the shop purchase name for Blue Gather Tokens, if you have that handy.

Its just BlueToken. And I believe there is also one more birdlike fish to be had too.. maybe not.

These other two are both ice, being cloudfish AFAIK, but they are reducible. Thanks, playing with routing and getting rid of excess scripts in anticipation of an example to use reduction automatically. Are you working on something for ephemeral fish? If you are I'll just wait on re-writing anything :)

Manasail (Reduction Level 56)
Location: Churning Mists, Tharl Oom Khash (Requires Cloudfishing)
Time: 10AM - 2AM
Weather: Fair Skies, Clear Skies
Catch Method:
Red Balloon -> Manasail (Straight Catch)
Red Balloon -> Sky Faerie OR Rudderfish -> Dravanian Bass (Single Mooch)

Tupuxuara (Reduction Level 60)
Location: Azys Lla, The Habisphere (40, 18) (Requires Cloudfishing)
Time: 3PM-6PM
Catch Method:

Red Balloon -> Tupuxuara (Straight Catch)
Red Balloon -> Sky Faerie OR Rudderfish -> Tupuxuara (Single Mooch)
Red Balloon -> Sky Faerie -> Rudderfish -> Tupuxuara (Double Mooch)

RECOMMENDED STRATEGY: Use Patience II, when you get a Medium/Large tug, use Powerful Hookset, otherwise just use Hook. Using it on Medium will get you a Rudderfish, which is moochable for Tupuxuara, and Large is always Tupuxuara. Small tug could be either Sky Faerie (Best Case Scenario) or, more commonly, Unidentified Flying Biomass (Worst Case Scenario). Using Hook while under the effects of Patience II will more often than not cause the small fish to get free, allowing you for much faster hooking on the larger fish that you actually want.

Which is why I'm asking, I don't fish at all because all I did was load up a profile and press start and bam I'm 60, and at level 58 fishing I was still wondering why the 50-60 leveling profile couldn't work because I didn't even obtain Cloud fishing, just yesterday I went through level 1-60 class quests for fishing then realised ah so thats something new. I don't play the game at all, I just bot it, which is why my game knowledge is only limited to what I can find on wiki or google. Thanks for clearing that up for me so I can try it out myself. And yea I do know its water/ice clusters and seaborne sand I'm looking at, just wanted to know how much seaborne sand I'm looking at. Does this turn in blue scrips really well? For some reason both BTN/MIN unspoiled has some issues with that

Mooncloud posted a profile making use of Mastahg's automated aetherial reduction. I'm adding that with a few tweaks into my copy of this profile as that's all it is missing to run basically forever. I'll test it out tonight and see what happens come morning. EXCITING!

EDIT: It ran all night. Had plenty of inventory space left over, had capped ice crystals and had quite a few water crystals. Forgot to unload my cystals to a retainer before I started. I changed up the profile to do all the water element fish, kept ice and blue script in, and hooked on to Skywatcher for the one water element fish that needed it. Ended up with 350 water clusters and of course more ice than that.
Something weird did happen when I woke up and took over manually. The mount became/already was disabled. Not sure atm where this is coming from so I hesitate to release the new profile until I can track this down.

Anyway, happy Friday, that's my update.

I think I read Matt say that when stealth is used it globally disables mounting and that he added something to re-enable it.

Edit with quote

Using stealth will turn off usemount globally, but sets up a cleanup handler to replace the original value you had (true or false) when the tag exits unless you happen to crash, then it might not set it back properly. I havne't had any issues with it not setting it back properly during my testing.

No stealth in the profile.

Still, working pretty well. It ran all night and most of a morning. Water cluster production is so hit and miss with fishing though.

Updated OP with new code.

Yeah, but with reduction implemented we at least don't need to really keep an eye on it =)
