^This is a perfect gear scenario for a Para 800+^

I suggest that you use the Quetzacoatl Builds.
Also contains alternative builds if you would like to do some testing.

Stat priorities on gear:
Ancient items and anything that gives more DPS

Paragon Point priorities:
25% movement speed, anything that adds DPS

D3 Planner Updates
10/05: Added Convention/SoJ combination, Quetzacoatl builds and others.
10/07: Changed Chest/Mojo/Shoulders to Locust Swarm Damage
10/07: PET BUILD Added a DB Farming Pet Build + Pet Build with Harrington Waist (10+ billion dps fetishes)
10/13: Added ZuniPet test builds, 1 with Sages

Movement Speed vs. DPS:

This guide now contains information on Movement Speed and higher DPS versions of the Angry Chicken build.

Remember that you will gain more from maxing out speed than adding more DPS at lower Torments. AKA SpeedRuns.

And you will clear higher Torments by sticking to some of the DPS options over Movement Speed.

It's best to do one or the other, not to mix an match... Go all out Movement or DPS unless your gear otherwise limits you.

Where to get Movement Speed:
100% from Manajuma's on Angry Chicken
50% from Angry Chicken
50% from Warzechian Armguards
50% from Spirit Walk: Jaunt
30% from Fierce Loyalty
30% from Boon of the Hoarder
25% from Paragon Points
25% from Krelm's Buff Belt
25% from 5 stacks of Soul Harvest: Soul to Waste
385% Total Movement Speed.

6 piece Arachyr's Set: DPS Increase
REQUIRED Use at least 5 pieces and a Royal Ring of Grandeur or the outright 6 piece set
800% Damage Bonus for creatures skills that we are using: Locust Swarm, Firebats and Corpse Spiders.
Required mostly for Locust Swarm which is being cast by Wormwood
Wormwood: Locust Swarm is cast at a nearby enemy every second

Quetzacoatl: Best in Slot for this build due to DPS
Highly Suggested
Whether using DPS or Movement speed items, this voodoo mask should give you the best overall performance.
This will require you to Cube it or use a Royal Ring of Grandeur in the Cube.
The RRoG can technically be worn on your character, but they come with IAS rolls that ruin them
If you have to wear one, you generally want CHC and a socket.
Cubed RRoG is best option IMO

Manajuma's Set: Movement Speed and DPS Increase
REQUIRED Largest component of your movement speed
Hex: Angry Chicken explosion damage is increased 200% and enemies killed by the explosion trigger an additional explosion
Allows Hex: Angry Chicken to last for 15 seconds which is a massive movement speed increase [100%].

Bracer Options

Warzechian Armguards: Movement Speed
Gain 50% movement speed for 4 seconds every time you destroy a wreck-able object
Works well with Wreath of Lightning gem as the lightning will dstroy all nearby objects.

Nemesis Bracers: More elites = More Death's Breath + More progression bulbs
Losing out on a decent amount of movement speed

Reaper Wraps: Refill Resource
If you're playing higher Torment and you stop to fight a lot, then run out of Mana, this is an option.
You shouldn't be staying still long enough to be using up your Mana

Coils of the First Spider: Stay alive while channeling Firebats
That is the only reason to use these.
You shouldn't be channeling often so I don't recommend it.

Belt Options

Krelm's Buff Belt: Movement Speed Option
Gain 25% movement speed
This could be placed in the cube, but we would lose the DPS increase of the Hexing Pants of Mr. Yan

Witching Hour: DPS Option
Grants an additional 5-15% DPS depending on skill, build and item roll.

GoldWrap: Higher Torment Option
If you are dying, try this. You won't be disappointed.
Massive armor increases from picking up gold.

Belt of Transcendamce: Pets
Grants you pets to proc Fierce Loyalty movement speed buff
Can replace the passive Fetish Sycophants
Here as a transfer option if you're coming from another build like 6p Helltooth.

Ring Options

Avarice Band: Pickup Radius
This allows you to pickup gold and health gloves without having to break your pathing.
Will be wearing this on character for Quetzacoatl Builds

Convention Of Elements: DPS
This will give you a 200% damage buff for 4 out of every 16 seconds of gameplay.
Proc is more consistent than using Focus and Restraint.
Will be wearing this on character for Quetzacoatl Builds

Focus and Restraint: Optional at best
This buff is not up constantly so they are not 100% required.
If your DPS is low, then you may need these when boss fights are taking 5-10 seconds.
They are still an option if you have them and are switching from another build.

Stone of Jordan: Elemental and Elite Damage, Optional if no Convention.
This is an option if you are doing a Quetzalcoatl build and do not have a Convention of Elements

Legendary Gems:

Bane of the Trapped:
20% free DPS.
Slows down enemies so you can Zerg past them easier.

Wreath of Lightning:
25% Movement speed when proc is up.
Also helps proc Warzechian Armguards by breaking objects.
If not using Warzechian, gem still provides movement speed.

Boon of the Hoarder:
30% Movement speed
Gives you massive armor if wearing GoldWrap

Required DemonBuddy Files:

Adventurer Plugin: plugins/adventurer/225946-plugin-adventurer.html
Use Latest Version
Make sure to setup the Bounties settings in the plugin as you see fit.
Make sure Zerg mode is turned on.

Trinity Settings:

Combat > Misc > Trash Mob Settings:
Minimum Trash Mob Pack Size: 10
Trash Pack Cluster Radius: 0
Uncheck all: Extend Trash Kill Range, Ignore Reflect Damage monsters, Force Kill Summoners

Combat > Misc > Avoidance Settings:
Uncheck all of them except "Attack Mobs in AOE"

Objects > Containers
Uncheck all boxes

Items > Pickup > Equipment Pickup Options
Uncheck anything you don't NEED
I leave on Legendaries only, but you can add things like white items.

Items > Pickup > Gold Pickup Settings
Uncheck gold pickup
Your Avarice band will get it for you. Leaving it on will cause backtracking.

Items > Pickup > Gems
Uncheck all gems if you do not need more
Alternatively you could just change the dropdown box to Imperial+

Advanced > Inactivity Timers
Check both Gold and Experience
Set Timer low, around 180 (If you're stuck for more than 3 minutes, you've already missed out on 1-2 bounties)

Advanced > Ticks Per Second
Check Enable TPS Modification
Set slider bar to maximum [30]

Alternate Builds, Why Quetzacoatl, etc:

Let's remember some things while looking at this next section:
  • Pants are almost always on their proc if you're truly zerging.
  • Bastions can have 2 procs.
    • One will be on relatively often.
    • The other one is rarely on unless you're stopping to attack a high HP enemy.
  • Convention of Elements maximum potential is 200% additional damage for 4 of every 16 seconds
    • Your Wormwood procs every second, meaning that it's more likely less that 4 seconds per 16.
    • If you're wearing the Convention, it's likely less than a 200% boost on proc due to RNG.
  • Witching hour is used to demonstrate how sheet DPS affects your Wormwood proc.

The initial Angry Chicken build does:

668.4 [no proc] + 663.2 [proc] = 1331.6 million/16 seconds = 83.22 million DPS**.
**This is lower on AVERAGE than the pants with 1 proc of Bastion's Will.

Quetzacoatl Builds:

When you look at the stats below, you shouldn't be surprised that the Quetzacoatl doubles the DPS of the other build on the Wormwood proc. Afterall, it causes Haunt and Locust Swarm to deal their damage in half the time.

Also, while the Wormwood proc is increased, these builds do drop the DPS of all non-Locust skills.

Let's put that in Perspective:

The summary here seems quite obvious... The Quetzalcoatl's doubling of the Locust Swarm damage scales very well!

If you're so inclined, you can add Locust Swarm Damage on the Shoulders, Chest and Mojo.
This will bring your maximum damage during full proc to 412 Million damage from the Wormwood.

Very reliable guide - thank you a lot for this!
I use almost the same build except one thing: I have noticed that Soul Harvest is not used properly (I mean in crowded areas), so sometimes you have no stack from this skill so I swapped it for Zombie Dogs - Cold rune. I prefer it more.

BTW can you post some stats that you get with this build? Like how many Death Breats, mats from bounties, etc. ?

I use almost the same build except one thing: I have noticed that Soul Harvest is not used properly (I mean in crowded areas), so sometimes you have no stack from this skill so I swapped it for Zombie Dogs - Cold rune. I prefer it more.

I'll have to mess around iwht the witchdoctor combat.cs and see if I can change that.

Code:
if (CanCast(SNOPower.Witchdoctor_SoulHarvest) && (TargetUtil.AnyElitesInRange(16) || TargetUtil.AnyMobsInRange[SIZE=3][COLOR=#ff0000][B](16, 2)[/B][/COLOR][/SIZE] || TargetUtil.IsEliteTargetInRange(16f)))

That's line 402 from the WitchDoctorCombat.cs file.

I am a little rusty but I believe it's looking for 2 mobs within a 16 yard radius in order to cast Soul Harvest.

I think it can be changed to 5 mobs (max stack without the soul harvest dagger) within 18 yards (current range of Soul Harvest).

Something like:
Code:
if (CanCast(SNOPower.Witchdoctor_SoulHarvest) && (TargetUtil.AnyElitesInRange(16) || TargetUtil.AnyMobsInRange[SIZE=3][COLOR=#008000][B](18, 5)[/B][/COLOR][/SIZE] || TargetUtil.IsEliteTargetInRange(16f)))

[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Tahoma, Calibri, Geneva, sans-serif]BTW can you post some stats that you get with this build? Like how many Death Breats, mats from bounties, etc. ?
[/FONT]
[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Tahoma, Calibri, Geneva, sans-serif]I am averaging 45 bounties an hour according to Bounty Statistics, which is an average of 1 bounty every 1 minute, 20 seconds.[/FONT]

[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Tahoma, Calibri, Geneva, sans-serif]This is better than my near-perfect geared Dashing Monk and my Money Barb. [/FONT]

I like your guide Very fancy.

This is for T7+ bounties ? ill give it a shot when im done farming the Spider set.
It sad that my WD does all the farming. Turbo chicken DB / key farmer gets me around ~ 280DB/h on T8 Been using this same build to farm T7 bounties.

Have not tried speed barb for bounties.

Would be nice if anyone could post statistics for this build. Bounties, rifts, whatever.

I'll give this a go next time I loot a Wormwood staff, thanks. :)

dude i have been using and loving the helltooth build and guide, but just wanted to see if anyone knew way to farm gr keys etc. Low and behold you just wrote this guide. <3 <3 <3

I'm looking for a build that's good all round. one that I can use for key farm / death breath on t8. But also can do t7 bounties

The he'll tooth sage turbo chicken works good it does t7 bounties fast not super fast but fast and I get about 280 db / hour in rifts

I was looking at a Variation of this Spider sage Chicken that can do T10 and at least T7 bounties.

Awesome guide :)

Just a small suggestion about plugins, drop armory and use Trinity's gambling instead :)

I'm actually collecting this gear with the purpose to run it for high GRift. I will post my version of all this if I can accomplish something usefull... Nice guide btw

this is old one but the only i could find,
i used to run similar build with this but with some changes

Averaged like 1:50/Bounty overnight and the gear's far from optimal. Thank you for the guide, much better then I was getting before. :)

Stelao you can edit your post. Stats aremail before the failed bounties

you had any experience running build like this on high torment for keywarden farming?

It works pretty decent on T7 or so depending on your gearing.

There are some things that can be changed out for higher torments (DPS can revolve around more than just the wormwood proc).

How about using a well rolled Convention of Elements and Stone of Jordan with poison dmg instead of Focus + Restraint?

What is this best used for ? Along with torment level and what variations do y'all use for GR's? Or normal rifts ?

EDIT: I have amended the original guide to reflect this post.

How about using a well rolled Convention of Elements and Stone of Jordan with poison dmg instead of Focus + Restraint?

That would be a good option!
It would be best with the Convention in Cube for Maximum Proc, so Avarice would likely be worn.
  • According to D3Planner removing the F+R rings removes more than half of the DPS of Locust Swarm.
  • However, without the F+R ring, but during a convention proc, it's 40% HIGHER than with F+R active and the +Poison damage.
    • If you're doing higher Torments, the F+R will be better if you have to stop to kill bosses and rare packs often.

...But... Is the Convention better? There are 4 elements on WD, so 16 seconds total to go through them all. In a perfect world, Wormwood would proc the instant it changes to Poison but we know better... So 3 procs every 16 seconds with the extra 200% damage. In keeping with the theme of not attacking, just moving, the convention fits the build better overall.

There are many alternates for that matter...

  • Stone of Jordan and Convention of Elements (As mentioned above)
    • Wearing SoJ and Avarice Band, Cubed the Convention for maximum effect
  • Swampland Wader SoJ build: 20% more Poison on pants, 20% more on Stone of Jordan
    • Avarice and Stone of Jordan on character, RRoG on Cube and Swampland Wader pants instead of Arachyr's pants.
  • SwampLand Wader Convention Build: 20% more poison on pants to work with the Convention Proc
    • Avarice and Convention rings on character, RRoG on Cube and Swampland Wader pants instead of Arachyr's pants.
  • Traveler's Pledge and Compass Rose: for 50% more CHD
    • Traveler's Pledge amulet and Compass Rose ring, Either Convention, Avarice or SoJ in other ring slot/in cube.
  • Traveler's Pledge, Compass Rose, SLW Pants, RRoG 50% CHD, 20% more Poison
    • Traveler's Pledge amulet and Compass Rose ring, RRoG in cube, Avarice on character.
  • etc, etc, etc. You get the idea.

Element Alternatives are there as well. In short, you can put an RRoG into the Cube and swap out any single piece from the 6p Set Bonus. Whether that's a Leoric's Crown, Grin Reaper, MageFists

  • Fire Swarm Use the Swampland Raider setup for Rings and Cube, but instead of changing the Arachyr's Pants, replace the chest with a Cindercoat. You could also do Magefists instead of the Chest.
  • Use Avarice Band on character with a Fire SoJ or use Convention of Element's. Change Locust Swarm to Fire Rune [Searing Locusts]. Might as well consider adding Wall of Death: Firewall in this case.

Other Alternates:

  • Using a Quetzecoatl in the Cube and Creeping Death as a passive in the original build or the Ring Alternates
    • Or you could wear the Quetzecoatl, cube the RRoG, wear the Avarice Band along with SoJ/Convention.
    • ...You get the idea
  • More Movement Speed: Drop Corpse Spiders for Horrify: Stalker and use Rachel's Ring of Larceny
  • More DPS: You can pickup an additional 10% damage by trading out the Krelm's Belt for a Witching Hour.

Here is the D3Planner used for all of the following information:
http://www.d3planner.com/100085540

In the end, what's important is your sustained DPS on the mobs that you are passing by. You want the Wormwood proc as high as it can go for as long as it can be. This is why I insisted on putting Hexing Pants of Yan into the mix. We are always moving, its 20% of free DPS that we don't have to stop to maintain it.
