Well, lets all be rational.
Is this DRM implementation an improvement of user experience in a short term?
Hell no. Our bots keep lagging, pausing, and etc.
How about in a long run?
Depends on how well they handle the issues. Here is why:
1. Without the DRM, they lose a certain market share which makes it less profitable. Because, face it, most db users have lifetime subscription which is extremely valuable tbh.(20-40dollars for botting D3 for life?) The users that dont would be a small profitable margin for BossLand. It relies on more people acknowledging the product and join the db user base. Unless you want to pay for expansions like you do for D3 which is what gaming industries do when they invest tons of time into patching and further development, your user experience is somewhat related to how much they gain from new users.
Imagine a company that have 99k to spend to develop/update a software comparing to only 9k or to be realistic, 66k or something. Not to mention this is a botting software where update is required asap after each patch from blizzard. Unlike blizzard where fund cutting simply means delay of content release, fund cutting for db simply means less functions, longer delay for update, etc.
You may argue that you'd rather have it working faster for now while making you wait for an extra day or two after each patch, that might not be the case for all users. Besides, they are working on making DRM's server faster.
Now I do not represent any of their interest, nor do I know if they have enough attention on this issue(which I'm sure they do given the number of posts on the topic in the forum). I do believe they completely understand how to maintain their business better. We all want better things. And to get that, it has to be in our common interest. As long as the product is still on the line, we are benefiting from it.
They came up with DRM to protect themselves/their interest indeed. And that means it is a problem to consider for them. Thus it should be for us as well. Not all bots have been long living like BossLand's products have. You may have found another bot that "does exactly the same thing". They may come and go. In the end, money is the solution to most things in our world. If there ever is a team working on d3 bots where much more fundings are provided, I believe they will beat demonbuddy. For now, we all understand the complaints are there to claim our rights, make bot faster etc. But do that in a rational way would help more. Join the testing group so they would save time on launching new features et
2. We all want better things after paying for them. Right now, some claims that it is not the case where freewares are beating demonbuddy. Now to be clear, do they just beat db by speed? The best measure should be overall farming speed imo. How fast are they clearing rifts? Using different builds. How well do they adapt to combats? How well are they doing for lootings?(if you havnt tried itemList, try it) How well are they doing after each patch?
These are long term measurements. If you do believe others do better than db, you may well go for it. There is no complaining in real life if you purchase something and something else beats it with a lower price. You can go out and spread the words, but the company themselves wouldnt give a crap if they already decided to let the product fall behind which is not really the case for demonbuddy. Go to dev forum, check out the features in development, you will realize they are keep working to make the bot better rather than simply trying to grind money. I mean the bot is working fine right now besides pausing/sometimes crashing issues, why would they even bother to have better combat routines after all?
3. The DRM is still in beta, there is plenty of room for improvement. We can provide feedback which is.. really nothing other than it kind of sucks at the moment. And that does not really help because they know it already. DRM is not simply a software problem, they need to work on all the servers at different locations across the world. They need to work on the network framework, routing, etc. The only thing they had before was buddyauth which is not even close to the complexity of the DRM system. It all comes down to how well they handle this. It would be better if we let the forums be taken by ppl that actually needs something that can be helped with rather than spamming "DRM sucks" posts.
I personally do not like DRM, I mean who would at this point? But have patience, as it is for our future interest.
