[BETA] ArchaeologyBuddy - An Archaeology Bot (with flying)

Yeah i cant wait for the next release also. I am REALLY hoping it fixes the water issue. Plus the logic for getting unstuck on objects. Mine doesnt even recognize that it is stuck. Just keeps flying into or walking into what ever is in its way.

EK - survey's in tree at ruins of zul'mamwe (digsite in there), then falls out of tree and sprains ankle

<Hotspot X="-12941.27" Y="-843.2482" Z="69.57553" /> <-- on ground next to tree

Seriously unusable atm. Water really breaks this bot as well as the trees in Stranglethorn. It also seems to be landing outside of digsites quite often and attempting to survey continuously until I finally move it myself.

Its working quite well right now, its only tested by the author in Kalimdor, not EK.

Works well so far!

I had a frew problems flying out of Hyjal on my way to Zoram Strand however.
How long should "Activity: Downloading Mesh" be displayed while my character waits to move to the next dig site?
Also, should the bot be automatically solving archaeological finds that already have their fragment requirements met? Otherwise we will be collecting fragments beyond the cap of 200.
Very great work!

it takes a while to download even if you got a high superb internet conection. It will not automatically solve the finds. you do that yourself which is better anyways to do so when you have xxx amount of something.

I have problems in Kalimdor because the toon want to mount in the water and he can't. So it get stuck.

Yeah I've got some advice. Read the title of the post. [BETA] in big capital letters.

I am a software developer myself so I am aware of the term beta.
Maybe I have to rephrase, but I wanted to know how to report bugs like this properly.

So... is there a ticketing system or alike?
What info (besides logs) do you need?
Shall I post a video that shows the current problems?

The main thing that makes me wonder is that the fact that the opinions vary from "oh crap, does not work" to "cool, works like a charm".

Basically I did the following:
- Install HB
- Install ArchBuddy
- Use Default CC (Arms Warrior)
- Disable all WoW-Addons (which changed nothing but some more FPS ;-))
- Trial and Error different settings like:

  • uncheck "Use experimental pathing"
  • use ground mount
All tests worked like this:
- Change one (!) config setting
- delete contents of meshes folder
- restart HB
- wait for meshes to download (50mbit ftw)
- see what happens

Apparently some digsites are bugged (Twilight Grove for no obvious reasons, Hinterlands digsites makes problems with walls), other problems are in Kalimdor where the bot stops in the middle of a flight without any reason.
You know, if the bot got stuck in a tree or on a mountain or even drown itself, ok, pathing issue :)
But it will return to a certain position in the middle of nowhere and even if I manually move it to a digsite it will not survey that site but instead return to its sanctum somewhere over the trees.
I can post a log, but it is not really helpful because there's nothing in it but "starting bot, get digsites, load meshes, goto digsite X". Then.... it stops and shows the mentioned behaviour.

I have the idea it might have something to do with phasing maybe, so the bot sees other things than what's really there.

Again: advise please :)

Sup dude. Mine works 60% of the time now, which is progress so im happy for this stage in the beta. Have done the same as you with regards to setup. With regards to HB settings, i have turned off everything in bot settings and general settings apart from the tickbox for the use mount.

Great plugin and ofc its beta but i've notice that at major cities like Orgimmar or Thunderbluff it just get "stuck" in the air and just stands there.
And also at some water lakes. Un'guro for example.

Attached log. Un'guro at the end of this. It just stood still over the water

Sure it will happen down the line. But for now, as its in BETA testing, will be easier to get troubleshoot without getting anything else involved imo.

I had big trouble with the Dire Maul one, it couldn't figure out how to get back up after going down in the arena to survey. After restarting 5 times I did the place manually and started it again. Worked after that.

I've also noticed A LOT of random combat! At the Arena for example, it went into combat every third second for no apparent reason. could be the thing bugging it?

I had the same issue - worked great except when it got to dire maul....

Doesnt work here for me.
Mounts, flies a bit, dismounts, tries to dig, flies again, dont do anything, ...
Tried in Azeroth + Kalimdor (Jaedenar).

Used default cc + mords on my paladin.

I've been using this bot extensively over the past few days.

These are the issues I have found that crop up everytime:

Cannot get to or from Hyjal or Winterspring just idles at the cliffs.
Issues navigating in Felwood, Azshara and Nerferset Digsite in Uldum, begins to idle.
Idles at Dire Maul dig site in the Arena.
Pretty much any water inside a dig site is an issue (ungoro, dustwallow marsh).

Just wanted to post another thanks for this.

My DK hit 525 Archeology today thanks to this plugin, it has some issues being in beta, but I just sat and watched it and did what I needed to here and there. And went to 525 with limited issues.

I also went from Level 82.5 to around 84.5 during this time.

Thanks for your great work Raphus
