Just started with HB.

Windows Laptop 8.1, used the BuddyWizard to get all the right parts so the installer would install.

Worked with it a couple of days, simple stuff. SimpleGarrison, GrindBot. Chalk some issues up to being a noob.

Setup DX9 on the 32-bit client. Finally stopped using the launcher since that just creates a mess. Start WOW32 and then the HB exe, and that is much smoother.

Loaded several free Huanha combat routines, after singluar kept complaining that when I switched toons, it couldn't deal with the "Enhancement Shaman Hunter Marksmenship" (it concatenated the last two player types I ran, and seemed incapable of resetting that so I didn't have to restart HB again.

Bought the 3 user version, and picked up a free trial on the timber plugin.

It's been all downhill from there.

Trying to get the timber plugin in to start, I have HB, then config setup then plugins - check timber and hit recompile. stuck windows. THey have to be killed. Try this several times. No luck

Do some more reading. clear out settings. That seems to improve things, but still have problems getting the timber plugin to "recompile"

Do more reading, support says take HB out of C:\users\<user>\documents\HonorBuddy and put it somewhere else. Did that. Got worse

Removed it, and the reinstall is failing.

restart your pc,
download the installationwizard https://www.thebuddyforum.com/attach...uddywizard-zip
run them as administrator.
after wizard installation is done, run windows update. And install all updates for .net & c++
restart

I had already run buddywizard, which is how those 2010 and 2012 versions got on the system. I have the same problem with another laptop, exactly the same thing.

I'l follow the guidance, but I'm unclear how what I did was wrong, given the fact that I started with Buddywizard.

Did as requested. Removed both x86/x64 versions of microsoft visual c++ 2010/2012 redistributable.

Ran buddywizard again, and I have 2010 and 2012 back on the system. Did the windows update (only skype, silverlight and something else not .NET or c++). Rebooted

Still fails to install. Tried to install just to the default location.

For a guy who's been in the tech industry for 25 years, while not a Windows guy, this is pretty *fragile*.

use the zip file instead of the installer
