I only botted about 2 weeks before season ends - last night I hand played to 42 clear as a demon hunter.
Right before it I got 43 down and popped boss with 2 minutes left, but was in a fucking hallway and it was Saxtris (who is an asshole rift guardian, those tornadoes hurt like shit when its GR 43)
For the one person who said DH is hard because of one shot, I suggest getting something called TurboHUD, it allows me to see the affixes (such as jailer and tstorm and frozen) and literally just kill the elite mobs from offscreen.
I let my templar and my pets (because we all have m6 amirite?) hold them still and nuke the shit out of them from africa.

My DH can bot 40, 41,42 or even a lil higher... sometime it can complete them in time but not all the time. But trust me those high lv GRs pump the exp so quickly!
My trick that i wanna share is to go cold with Frostburn and Krider!! cold sentry as well! the crowd control is awesome! my friend used to ask me why my bot could survive that high of a lv GR when his DH is even better than mine haha now he tries it, and is doing 40+ like a cake! hope this help!

I haven't tried a cold dh yet but could you give me some tips on gear and skills, please?
Ii'm having trouble finishing lvl 38 with my fire dh - using cindercoat, reapers wraps, and marauder's.
even a quick list of your gear, legendary gems and skills would be appreciated. TIA
I was under the impression THud was considered a exploit/hack just as well as botting equally? Or did they ever come to terms with it, I know the author disabled stuff on higher grifts then later said fuck it and released full viewing versions. I might run thud if so, never got a chance and seeing tstorm mobs before they drop me with it and pop awareness would be a life saver.
I use MS + Calamity with M6 + cinder. Go RCR 30%+ don't bother with sentry DPS on cinder. go for unity + vit rolls to get like 600k hp. use ruby in helm to boost exp. Gems - BotT BotP Zei. Survivability and simplicity of the build allows botting higher GRs. Also use trail of cinders for tumble as cinder reduces its cost.
I tried cold version also, but you need either Hexing pants or Pride's fall to be used efficiently to close high GRs. and AI simply cant do it properly, so fire build is way more efficient for botting. MS is imo best for solo, as mobs are usually scattered around. With this setup my DH bot closes 43+ grifts. max I saw was 44. but he had quite some time left so 45 is possible. he got all gems upgraded to 46+.
