Hi Developers and EB Team

I have been fiddeling around with EB the last few days and found it pretty nice to contribute my own stuff to EB and just watch it xD

I have a specific idea in mind. I want to achieve, that dedicated EB Clients can do some basic communication with each other. Also I want to make this available to the community here and share some of my code (or even service).
Now, this requires an external hardware (virtual) component. A certain Up-Time guarantee and maybe some sort of expandable hardware (virtual) concept. Not a problem in the first case, since I am familiar with that.

So, my question. If I wanted this to set this, or special feature of it, under some type of small donation/fee/subscription, because it produces certain "costs", can I do that? If so, how would I do that, so I do not conflict with the EB terms and conditions?

Cheers

Hey spliffermaster,
Sounds great, have a chat with Pushedx, keep in mind. If you charge for a service, you must also have a guarantee to help with issues that arises.

Well that's the point. I don't want to do that xD For sure everybody will get help and stuff. But basically what you "donate" for is more like, let's say "Kickstarter Project". Haha. Invest, win or loose.
That's why it would not be a service, just a "recommended" donation to even get a user at the RestAPI side to use it. Let's say, for a small fee I will type in your username and key into my RestAPI management console ;)

With a small entrance donation/fee it should be acceptable to have the "service" down for some time. Or just say, I need some time to catch up the changes made and affecting this. Or just being on holidays.
If anybody can not live with that, don't even think about using this in first place. That has to be clear straight away.

But I haven't thought this through yet. Just want to make sure that the EB Team will not block this "project" on the forums.

BTW: Is there an IRC Channel or anything where EB Developers "hang-out" and exchange knowledge? I have a couple of questions or ideas i wanted to implement, but could not find a reference to.
I checked out the honourbuddy IRC, but there is no EB Channel and not much action going on..

It's the purpose of a "donate" button right? don't expect anything skyhigh from users on this board ;) akna on the HB forums wrote something about donations :)

FYI, external "not official" programs are not allowed on these forums (same for dlls) and for now your project seems to be more about the money than the project itself...

Anyway, if you have any questions EB-API related just ask, pushedx or even people could answer them ;)

HF.

hey toNyx

thanks for your reply.. but you might have got me a bit wrong. i dont want to do anything about the money.. honestly, if i would make it about any money, it would just be soooo stupid to make something for such an unreliable and from 3rd party dependend software. short - making money with EB plugins, that is a bit of an utopian dream...

what i want is, that i have not much people on the server that would handle the RestAPI for communication. so if "everybody" or just a lot of people would try the plugin/bot, i am pretty sure my server will go down and i dont want that.
so i will get me a new server, setup some concept of scalability and stuff. and then i just want my costs (not even completely) covered.

so, as you mentioned people from here... yea i dont wanna say more about that xD. but here are also some really nice people around why i want to share it. i got a lot of my plan running already, but not in a way i would think about calling it "releasable". i would also appreciate if anybody could take a look at the code and tell me if i am doing any "Donts" or "Nogos". Any volunteers?

meanwhile.. i got some questions.

- is the party invite accept not impleneted yet?
- is the social panel interaction in any way implemented? i can open it, but then.. no idea how to decline or accept anything or do more actions there

=== got this sorted out xD ===
and most important: i come from python, not much love for C sharp yet and not at all for that stupid visual studio, neither the Windows Keyboard Setup.. waaah.. i turned into such a apple pussy, really sad haha.
so this is the tragic way i test my code / bot:
- code
- run EB
- try and error

any better way than that? i tried that VS2013 stuff, but honestly, no idea what i am doin there.. i got code completion, all shiny syntax stuff. is that it?
i usually work with PyCharm from JetBrains and i can start my application and stuff right from the EDI, set breakpoints, read my variables during runtime, etc. That would be nice to achieve for VS/EB too.

cheers

EB should have the buddy store enabled to paid plugins . . .

For the EB questions I'll let pushedx answer since I'm not around for a long time ;)

For the visual studio, there's some good tutorials that talks about attaching EB into a solution to get a fully working API ! :) that's how we debug shit there in c#

Roboto (in HB part) made a server-based profile randomizer with blackspots/mailbox/vendors database, the main communication form will be in socket I guess (for the local part)

after several IDEs, i finally learn it for VS aswell.. that's not exactly what i promised myself few years ago, to never learn VS related stuff.. thanks EB for breaking my own promises... ^^

I'll have to re-read this thread and talk to staff about a few things first before I can reply.

EB should have the buddy store enabled to paid plugins . . .

We can look to get Buddy store support added to EB 'soon' if it's going to help people with development.

My biggest concern up to this point though, is the rate at which the game changes, and the actual changes that take place, will require people to do a ton more work than the other games we provide. Buddy store isn't a cash grab type of thing, it requires a legal commitment from devs to maintain their work and provide updates as needed. Anyone that sells on it is under contract, so the thing I want people to understand before they jump into it, is to make sure they understand the amount of work that is required to keep their stuff up and running in a game like this.
