People who are using HB on Windows 10 please fill me in RQ

Im gonna do a quick format and figure ill toss windows 10 on but I want to make it a quick n dirty ie: install/install wow/worry about the rest later. For obvoius reasons.

Problem is, last time I tried windows 10 i was disappointed to find that HB wouldnt attach. Some folks have said they are using it/gotten it to work and im just looking for some insight into how so Im not held up by it when i format or even worse, unable to get it to work and im forced to go back to windows 8.1.

So for those of you out there already using the TP, a quick rundown on what you need(ed) to do to get it working properly?

Honorbuddy still does not support Windows 10, or the other way around. You won't be able to bot with W10 yet.

did you read my post thoroughly? People are already using it on Windows 10. The honorbuddy team doesnt support it yet... but that isnt relevent. I know your just trying to help though - so thanks for that.

you are right. HB does not officially support W10 yet, but that's where your information fails.
FUD is a great forum tool when you don't know whats going on.

I run up to 5 bots a time, on windows 10, build 9901 currently. runs 100% like 8.1.
the only issue for w10 is going to come when they switch the kernel to V10. - then it comes down to the programmers using bad code (code to check windows version #s) where it won't work.

it's going to be another vista release, because programmers are lazy and check versions how they are told NOT TO DO for years.

SO... how does one get around the non attaching issue? I "believe" i tried to run it as admin and in compatability mode to no avail (to be fair this was with the earlier build of win10) or that could have nothing to do w/ it at all.

what information do you need?

fresh install this last weekend (of windows) -
install wow
unzip HB
run buddywizard.exe
double checked the new req VC++ is installed (wasn't sure that the bw took care of that)

run wow
run HB
profit.

NOTHING MORE THAN THAT.

this same process worked 100% on build 9879 (newest non-leak) I don't know what secret info you need.

(if you are running DX9 mode, you might need to run DX web setup to get the missing dx9 files)

Biomatrix has summed it up nicely. Its not just Windows 10—its the slew of drivers that have to be made compatible with it. Yes, some of the drivers may kinda work, but they are obviously not good enough for running a system like an Honorbuddy-WoWclient combination on YOUR box, yet. Honorbuddy does work on Windows 10, but it requires drivers that implement the Win10 specs correctly.

Let. it. go. We will support Windows 10 when it gets to an appropriate state. There are plenty of other problems we need to chase (of our own), rather than chasing the non-product of Windoze 10, and all the drivers it needs to operate correctly.

only partly right, as of right now, 99% of windows 8.1 drivers work on windows 10 (because it's windows 8.2 "at the core") - January is when things break. but video card drivers are 100% win10 supported - and the "dumb" drivers supplied with windows works for the rest.
either way; I never posted about this because like 64bit - it's all a waiting game.

I run it because I can - if January's releases break it; I'll stick to this version.

you obviously either didnt read my post OR didnt use the first release.

it wouldnt attach period in the first TP. Glad it does now. Good news i guess im in the clear. thanks for confirming it.

nah it just didnt work on MY box when i used the initial tech preview, just like LACP (IEEE 802.3ad) didnt work with my nics even though the drivers installed. I was unsure if the new updates fixed it which apparently they have. I didnt try for obvious reasons. Now i can go back.

all depends on your definition of "working" and your config (as was mentioned). For example, the proset drivers work for the nics but the advanced features like link aggregation simply stop your web from connecting period (may have also been fixed in the latest release, we shall see). The gpu drivers worked on simple single card single display systems, but I use nvsurround and quadsli so it .. sorta.. worked. but was a buggy mess. (again may be improved/fixed in the latest release).

Either way the fact that honorbuddy IS NOW attaching in windows 10 is good news and enough for me to take the time to backup and dump the box. Worst case ill have to do it once more when windows 10 goes retail, best case they'll update TP users all the way to retail (i believe thats the plan) although im anal so may do a fresh install at that point anyhow.

Hoping they sneak dx12 in at some point. As for 64bit HB. If the millions weve gave them and the improved security and performance isnt enough to get them to do it... dont expect it to ever come. I guess blizzard MAY force 64bit at some point.. but the game is likely to go the way of the dodo just as much as it is to still be around when they decide to do that. Its too bad but its beating a dead horse at this point.

I haven't had any issues with honorbuddy + W10 yet, been using them for about 3 weeks now, although I would expect things to turn bad next month, when the W8 to W10 change over "really" happens, w10 is very much like W8.1 at this moment in time, it is actually a very stable platform, no issues on my end what so ever, but like I said, I would expect this to change when the new year kicks in.

well, nvidia drivers - that's your first problem.
SLI - that barley works on supported systems

but on 9901 - proset software with aggregation works perfectly (use it daily) dx12 is coming soon (I have a build of it, think dx11+ mantle features - mantle speed = outlook isn't as good as we hope)

and everyone seems to be missing ONE point.

HB has worked since the very build of W10 released. and it works on the lastest leak.

I'm back on 8.1 for a while for my botting machine. I havn't attempted build 9926 for botting.
I asked this question to Hazard before I remembered this thread.

what about placing required DLLS in the HB .exe folder? does that still work? (we'd still need to know WHAT DLLS are called)
but that could be a work around for those who choose to use W10 to bot on (I know I would if I could, I hate 8.1 - slower - etc)

Can confirm the new 9926 has killed HB on win10 as expected. Was nice while it lasted. And am sure the devs will have HB working for win10 before it gets released to a release state. (Back to win7 for me, never did like 8)

Also confirm, updated my laptop to 9926 and it broke it.

Luckily with the Windows 10 9926 build Microsoft implemented a "rollback windows" option when you restart your computer. Selecting the rollback option brought me back to the 9879 build and now HB works fine again. Much better solution than installing windows 8 again.
