i believe some nodes in skill tree can also change the cast time of lightning warp (increase skill duration), so even an unlinked gem, the cast time can still be diff. between users.

I know they can change but even with that it will still be an improvement, a user who gets teleported instantly will survive, a user who doesn't get ported instantly will have to handle monsters for 1 second max, on both cases its better than facetanking the whole box.
 
Yea, i am all in for that, just not sure if that is easy to implement at all. In 1.1 we had a "move away" from boxes that worked quite well (well not for freeze).

I think the Lightning Warp will always be better than walking away because you can get stuck/surrounded by spawned monsters and not be able to move away.

In terms of implementation I don't think it is hard at all, we would need a function to search for a good destination position for our Lightning Warp(preferably far from corspes aswell to avoid detonate/revive). After we have that we would cast Lightning Warp on the calculated position and immediatly click to open the strongbox.

Smoke Mine would be harder because you would need to walk to the calculated position, place the mine, walk in, pop the box (you could get frozen so you would need a dispell freeze flask), and detonate it.

Add auto flask 1-2 seconds after clicking box, the flask is a dispel freeze and it uses it everytime it clicks A box, then follows the move away rule.
 
You are making Lightning Warp more complicated that it is. You dont need to check the delay timer and all of that, if you have an unlinked Lightning Warp and you pop the box right after casting Lighting Warp, you may stay there for half a second to 1 second, but that's not enough to kill you since you can still use HP Pots while frozen, so unless you get 1 shotted, you're gonna survive. The only things that can 1shot you aka Explodes/Ice Nova/Detonate have a delay after opening the box, so you will always warp before those happen.

The only thing you need to calculate is the position where to cast it, most likely just found a place that is far away from active monsters and from strongbox itself, which shouldn't be too hard.

Yea it would be much easier to design it for a specific instance where LW isn't linked and you can survive in any direction. But its a much better design to account for as many variables as you can, especially considering the nature of this game and its skills. But I suppose at the moment even the most basic functionality is better than what is currently in place.

The move away rule calculates a position to move into, that calculated position can be used for Lightning Warp with the plus of not getting desynched and surrounded by monsters attacking you.

sounds good I was mainly saying the auto flask should be an option so freeze or not the bot performs the unfreeze everytime just as a quick workable bandaid
