Zerg means basically when doing bounties etc. that your toon will run past all of the enemies it DOESN'T HAVE TO kill and will only kill those that it DOES have to.
It means that your exp comes mostly from completion of bounties/quests etc. not slicing up enemies.
It means less loot and legendary drops from elites and etc. but more completions and thus hopefully more exp.
However it can result in more deaths and ALL zeg profiles should be used with 'Illusory Boots' which allows you to run through enemies and etc.

This is not to be a doucher either. It's actually pretty cool. The term "Zerg Rush" has become so ubiquitous that google has actually created a special effect on google when you search the term "Zerg Rush."

We use it more to define rushing. Typically in a profile with zerg mode, it force skips all non-important kills as mentioned in the last reply. This leads to faster clear times if that is your goal.

semi-correct.
If your toon gets stuck cause enemies block the way, it technically does have to kill them to continue walking. What it actually does is, stand still doing nothing and get killed. So use this "mode" with caution.
Or get illusory boots and enjoy 2B xp
