Seriously, the OP-ness just exudes from my WD like a bad taste from the night before at RedLobster.

Spent a full month farming T4 Ghom on my barb before he had the gear to take T6 Ghom in under 30 seconds (around 28seconds now for a kill?).

Spent 5 days leveling and then gearing my WD. He's now up to 61 games/hr with instant-leave Ghom on T5. He stays full health the whole time, and has half-assed gear.

Leeching dogs + 15 second Fire Garg + 67% Fire dmg + 66% dmg to Elites. Literally just random items I picked up leveling and/or afk-farming Ghom on T4 with the WD for 3days.

[Forum bugged out before after I had corrected my math. Correcting it YET AGAIN!]
[Removed 15% from WD base reduction I thought they had already]
[Finished math below]

I can also see the potential to be even more OP with better gear, here's why:
-You get another 15% damage reduction from a Passive.
-You get another 25-30% damage reduction spread to your dogs from UHKAPIAN SERPENT.
-You get a passive that will regenerate 1% of your total hp per second but 10% mana costs of your spells consume HP instead. (With a pet build that isn't Notictable at all). [Concentrate high HP!]
-You can get the LifeLeeching dogs Rune which gives each dog on-hit 100% of your life-on-hit. So if you have 10,000hp life-on-hit then with 6 dogs that's 60k hp per time every dog attacks, not counting you.
-If you're lucky enough to find TWO Unity rings you can add an additional 50% damage reduction so long as you have the Legendary Following item that makes them immortal (I have 2-3 for each follower at this point now).

Total makeup with a proper build:
Say Ghom hits you for 10,000
Gets 15% from a Passive: 8500
You can get 10% from life-link rune with your dogs: 7650
Another 25% from having Uhkapian Serpent: 5737
Another 50% from Unity with Follower: 2868.5
After all added resists we end up being hit for 2868.5 before armor and resistances....
Now, factor in your Armor and Resistances.....yea he hits like a bitch now while you're regenerating about 60k to 100k per second. (My WD, with 6 LOH dogs, and BloodRitual, gets +93k hp heals per second since i have 602k hp).

I can infinitely tank T6 Ghom above 80% health, never using a potion with half-assed thrown together gear I haven't finalized yet (note: I only have ONE Unity so far so im only getting the +% to elite dmg from it so far). However, I kill him in about 43seconds which is slower than my 14 Second T5 Ghom runs currently (burst dps dies too soon on T6 to take me the rest of the way so it slows down around 20% a LOT).

Witch Doctor in multiplayer games with random pubs is hilarious too. My WD sits there keeping waves of enemies off everyone else while i just stand there chatting. So broken :D

-Cheers

Build??? Why do people post stuff like this without mentioning the build?

Totally agree. WD is my third character. Startet DB in RoS with barb. Its alright for Ghom. Switch over to wizard, which is not as optimal like barbs for Ghom (Actually kind of bad). Heard everyone talking about how WD was good for DB, so I created one, used all my paragon points and took armory plugin on with the act1-5 profile overnight(on normal). Next day I used legendary road on hard difficulty to level to 70, and I was amazed how rare gear + 2 to 3 legs was able to farm Ghom on t4 without any elemental dmg.

Witch doctor are like hunters in wow. Clearly the best race because you have pets to tank. People talking about barbs are best class for DB has no fucking clue about it Ive noticed now. I have tried both classes.

On my WD I use this profile
Witch Doctor - Game Guide - Diablo III
from here
http://www.thebuddyforum.com/demonbuddy-forum/demonbuddy-profiles/163755-wd-t6-ghom.html

With staking elemental dmg its gonna be very easy doing 50-60 runs t6 ghom. Now fuck barbarians that was best DB class pre-RoS. It doesnt take more than a couple of days to do t6 Ghom with a WD. Its gonna take several weeks as barbarian. And dont even get me startet on how I hate fire elemental dmg builds in rifts. Jumping around like an idiot doing leap-shit that indiana Alkaizer dude told us to do. No fuck that haha.

Sorry, but did you actually use a calculator to get those numbers and still be wrong? Every single stepdown you made, somehow you managed to completely botch it. 15% of 10 000 is 1500 so 8500. Even going 6049 to 4032 is not a 50% drop. 4032 is 66% of 6049, the math is so bad I can't even begin to listen to whatever else you have to say.

guys i need to make a WD too but don't know the good botting builds

I'm not running Ghom profile, I might be paranoid but having 10.000 Ghom kills would look sorta suspicious. Anyways, I do have a WD, but can not fathom what's so OP about it? I have the helmet that gives 100% more dps from pets, but I can't find a pet build that trinity plays well. He is constantly doing the wrong things, so to speak.

Anyone care to chime in if they have an allround build that works well? And/or changes to trinity?

thats a good idea to give your follower unity and the immune relic. maybe its common knowledge but i didnt read it or think of it yet. +1

Witch Doctors do not gain 15% damage reduction for 'being a WD'. The only reason some classes have a modifier (30%) is due to being classified as a melee class (monk, barbarian & crusader).

Witch Doctors are without a doubt one of the most powerful if not THE most powerful classes right now. I run almost the same thing except I use physical damage. I can pop into a full T6 game for rifts and watch them try to hack it down little by little. I go and pop FA BBV WP and my single garg zombie dog. and the boss poofs in a second. For doing bounties, rift clearing, hell even botting Ghom. I prefer using Fierce Loyalty passive for its movespeed bonus which is huge. And having 1 single dog vs 8 fetish + 6 dogs all trying to compete for a spot around a monster to attack + Bad pet AI makes the single garg dog even more superior. The Ukhapian Serpent is good for sure, the dmg mitigation it gives alone is enough for me not to need unity. And between spirit walk - jaunt and ice climbers i am basically untouchable. On T6 I switch serpent on, Anything below T4 I switch back to Thing of the Deep for its radius on grave injustice.

Unless you are only farming paragon levels you should bot the class you enjoy playing anyway.
Smart loot will make chestruns / t4 ghom many times as effective as running T6 Ghom with a witch doctor you don't want to play.

Can you post builds for bounties and ones for Ghom? I'm going to start a fresh WD because of my envy on you guys.

This post is interesting to me because i just had found out how op WD is this past week after gearing mine. There are essentially 2 builds that are both extremely crazy op when just a few items and you doing more damage than any other class, faster, and safer too. WD is prob the best "afk" class for dps, for example in the 1 build i use, a dot build, i can run t4/t5 rifts all day, and rarely die, with no little to no effort i simply run around, dot up mobs, pirahana some together for my party, and let my fetish handle everything

I have 890k dps, i do not have jade set yet (only found 1 piece so far) i do not have quel hat yet either, and my dots tick for 4-5m per stack, x 2-3...no white mob can whithstand more than a few seconds at most, you literally melt anything the game has to offer for hitting 2 butons and just cruising around, doing whatever, while your team struggles to do dps, you just sit back, have a snack collect loot, its really fun and bordering rediculous lol

The other build is pet build, once you have the helm, gloves and rings setup, in my gear the mega dog hits like a truck, talking 30-40m+ yes that much. Stacking Physical damage, elite damage, and +dog damage, my dog 1 shots everything, and any bosses in t4 or below (havent done a lot of t5 yet) die in seconds, its so crazy to run up to T4 diablo or such, pets go in, and see just like 4 hits drop boss in half or more, no other class i have seen or played has come even close to that sheer amount of damage that wd can pull out, sitting afk and for free with no effort lol

But the REAL crazy stuff happens when you get 4 piece Jade set bonus + Quel hat, stack cold damage, and elite damage, you cast 3 dots, and hit soul...now as i said my dots tick for 4-5m per tick, over say 10 seconds, so lets just say for sake of math i get lets say 10 ticks, 50m, 50m (10x5 x 2), now the 4 piece bonus instantly deals damage equal to total amount of ticks would of done, so you hit 1 button and watch as you deal 100's of millions of damage instantly...as one of other other guys said, you literally 1 shot bosses, nothing survives, and you can do this in an aoe, you can take out everything in 1 fell swoop, clean, and hitting like 2-3 buttons, its pretty crazy

also, the wd is built tough, i somehow have 1500 all resist, wd is really tanky, with enough paragon u can have tons of life, life regen, your pets tank everything for you, you never take anything, if you use the unity combo like i do, you literally never die, only if you get caught by a bad wave of arcane beams, or stuck in a corner with absolutely nothing to do, but for normal running around, t4/t5 (i'd imangine doing t6 is just as easy) even in average gear a wd is a beast defensive wise, my poor wizard in comparison has 1m dps, can kill stuff quick, but gets 1-2 hit by everything in t5, with such poor toughness, and its very hard to gear for more tough and maintain high dps, with wd, you just stack dps, toughness comes naturally/easily, never had to specifically gear for it, although you can, and STILL do 3x more than my wizard, and NEVER dying...its crazy

I was actually half asleep at the time, and you quoted it and was typing your comment just as i was correcting it. Literally 2minutes later i corrected my whole post since it looked wrong. I just now found your post haha :D!

I read awhile back that they did. Do WD's really not get a base of 15%?

Witch Doctor - Game Guide - Diablo III

Dogs are undeniably required for T6 Ghom farming with sub-par survival gear. Currently with 12million toughness, and all the other stuff combined (without unity ring working, since i don't know a second one) and the dogs are the primary reason im surviving so well. You could easily replace "Fierce Loyalty" with "Blood Ritual" so long as your hp is above 400k to actually get a benefit from it, but that's up to you and also depends on how much life-on-hit you have.

I have roughly 10k LifeOnHit so each dog is giving me 60k each time each of them attacks once. I also have a +50% pet attack speed Legendary gauntlet on so that helps too :)!

That pet dmg mask is also a must for quick Ghom kills past T4. I was doing fine without it, but once I got it that Gargantuan hits for like 40million on a crit D:!

xD I played witch doctor since D3 vanilla and release of RoS almost exclusively regardless of op or up because they reminded me the most of my main class in D2 the necro. It saddens me a little to see the sudden influx of WD players due to popularity haha

Yea, I miss my necromancer. They were a staple of the Diablo franchise, and it is unfortunate they decided to go with something as dull as a "Witch Doctor". Really wish the Necromancer made a come back using his student as the main playable class. Apparently, our necro-buddy from Diablo 2 found himself a student of whom you get to meet in Act 3 I believe. I forget his name, but he had skeletons etc :D!

I really want my necromancer back :(.

I read awhile back that they did. Do WD's really not get a base of 15%?

No, how would that make any sense?

Lets give melee classes 30% reduction and ranged 15%. So there is no zero point lol. They would have instead just given melee 15% and ranged 0%, but alas, it's 30 and 0.
