using DB, can I have it running in the background with a plugin like Gearswap while I manually control/play the game?

The answer is yes!

HOW TO GUIDE:

Important: This works best if you create a new install of DB for this purpose only as it may affect combat settings for all profiles in the same installation. There is sure to be a reason/setting to fix this, but I am not skilled enough yet to even guess where to fix that.

1. Make sure to tweak general trinity settings to your own choice of automation (pot/well use, Shrine/chest use, even town run settings)
2. Start your game as you prefer it (Adventure mode, questing etc) with your chosen difficulty setting.
3. Load profile after game has loaded (NOTE: This goes against the general advice for profiles but worked best for me for this purpose)
4. Play the game manually but enjoy your automated plugins such as GearSwap/Armory and the like working in the background like a charm.


Feel free to post suggestions below on good/interesting plugins to run in the background and I will try to keep this resource up to date :)

That worked very well!

It took some extra tweaking of the Trinity plugin settings to stop it from trying to loot chests/grab shrines etc) and I still havent got it perfect, but it uses the bot to swap gear when I run into elites, it also uses potions and so on.

However, one important note: Unlike most profiles, you should start this one AFTER you create a game, otherwise the bot will use the profile to start a game with odd results :) (Maybe just my settings, but just easier to start it after game is running than before to resolve it)

And with that, I would assume it would work for other plugins as well that run in the background (Armory?)

If anyone has some nice tips on good plugins to have running as you play the game yourself, feel free to post them in this thread so people can give it a try :)
 
I have my game set to 800x600 but I have resized it on my monitor to customized setting.

DB doesnt require the resolution to be 800x600 so just resize your window to what you feel like (Might try to resize it to cover all of the screen myself, right now I have it set so I have the DB window visible next to it)

My mouse always run out of window, mb some option for this that i don't see. It don't allow me play like normal.
 
I think that is just a matter of habit. It took me a while (like an hour or so of playing) to get used to not getting my mouse everywhere. Worst case scenario, I would possibly lower mouse sensitivity?

I have dual monitors so I have always had to be aware of such things, so that might have given me some advantage.

Unfortunately, I dont know of a setting that would keep your mouse inside the diablo window :(

Ok then. Have you tryed new trinity option swap nemesis bracers with this kind of play style? Work/not work?
 
Nope, I havent tried it, but I dont have nemesis bracers to try it with. If I do come across a pair, I will try it and post results in original post.

I have one. Will try it when feel not to lazy to play by hands =))
 
Well, I am using gear swap which now has functioning support for the nemesis bracers. I still dont have any but Gearswap works for the rest of my gear so dont see why it wouldnt work just fine for the nemesis bracers :)

That's a setting in Diablo itself - I think it reads something like "lock cursor inside window" - I THINK that it's in the video options settings, if not it would be in gameplay.
