Archon activates and runs up to elites in melee range

Using latest beta and trinity. Wizard works great at range until he pops archon on elites. He then runs right up to them in melee range before using abilities and dying. Any suggestions on setting up trinity to use archon at max range on elites?

I increased Archon Elite Trigger range to 35 but still activates Archon at range then runs up to them.

Edit: Not sure if rrrix can do anything but it is on http://www.thebuddyforum.com/demonb...s/act-4/156054-adventure-hell-rift-1-2nd.html Rift 2 and it spawns 4 Mallet Lords that pretty much destroys you if you are at melee range. Maybe something that detects them and gets at max range for Archon instead of melee range. They are easy to kill manually.

Any help appreciated.

I think you can scroll down on the wizard trinity settings and edit the range at which archon engages certain affixes. Personally I prefer my archon to be up close and personal most of the time unless im on T5+ then I get one shot most of the time. You just need to define what ability's on the elites hurt the most, and add the range in and maybe tune the kiting with archon a bit. What level are you running on that you get killed so quickly, whats your dmg/toughness? archon is fairly strong, you shouldnt be having any troubles with it in t1-t2 if you have like 5m toughness and 600k dmg+

Been having that issue for a loong time, "solved" it by unchecking "use Archon arcane strike"

Thats odd, What passives/skills are you using? My Archon obliterates T1 mobs/elites/champs like those in a single strike, How much of your toughness is HP? Hp is fake toughness, you don't want it. around 350k hp is more then enough.

I am 1.2m dmg
6.5m toughness(I am running T3 hell rift using the Force Armor which helps with huge hits)

If you are having trouble dying, I would suggest making your passive skill at least one of them to unstable anomaly and Blur for 17% dmg reduction. This will give you a free life basically and possibly enough time to survive and finish the rest of them off. 800k damage and 7mil toughness you should be having no problem especially in Archon mode of all things killing these elites on T1. Out of maybe 400 runs on T3 I have died twice, Both times I had sledge and hammer both on me and even unstable anomaly went off, saved me the first time. But the rare affixe rolls they get that lock me in like jail and such prevented my bot from moving out of the way of a second smash from both at once which is huuge damage. But I found switching magic weapon back to Deflection for absorb shield help and I no longer die.
 
The Archon Meleeattack & Q ability is very very strong thats why he walks up to melee range.
If you die in Archon you should consider going on a lower difficulty because Archon is so amazingly strong, if you die in it something is wrong. :)

Pretty much what he said, Archon should technically make you nearly invincible due to the constantly damage upgrade per kill, and the significant boost in toughness. But unless you are super geared, mobs in t4-6 will still kill you if unlucky affixes. I realize posting a profile isn't really an option, but if you listed some of your gear and your build I could probably figure out the reason. I also assume that that damage and toughness is already taken into account any in game buff like magic weapon sparkflint energy armor?
