Not a lot you can lower as far as the pc itself. But keep the monitor turned off. Also around the house keep lights off, and lights that are on a lot such as outside lights, or main hallways ect switch to a lower cost usage bulb. Possibly LED the initial cost on those is coming down a lot. Aside from an air conditioning unit and surprisingly some fridges. Lights burn up the most juice.

I typically am very conscious about leaving lights on etc. I always bot with my screen off. the 100$ increase in my power bill is directly from botting these last few weeks. I'm curious if its because I am using a powerful gaming computer. Do you guys think if I switch to a laptop the power cost of running it 24/7 will be lower?

are you multibotting? It sounds like your GFX is just eating the power up. If you switch to a laptop your power costs will go down, but also im thinking you have a beast for a video card, so if you downgraded that then the same result would happen.

get one of these

Newegg.com - Range Kleen P4460 Kill A Watt EZ Electricity Usage Monitor

bot 12 hrs on laptop vs desktop look at the cost difference.

prob would be cheaper on laptop taking a guess, lower your settings. so your cpu/vid card are not drawing as much juice

you could also set max fps to 30 -> lower details

newer videocards / processors usally comsume less on lower loads

the settings are stored in "D3Prefs.txt" in your document\diablo3 folder

you can save to old -> rename it to something else and just switch these two files.

good settings when you play on your own
lower settings when you bot

Simple- Dont Bot with your gaming computer, Bot with a laptop that can handle D3 with the lowest settings.

some graphics cards consume up to 200 watts or more ...
