Getting Started With Exile Buddy

This guide is to designed for new people to get a head start on using Exile Buddy. Any suggestions or recommendations are always welcome send me a pm or post here. If you have builds, pickits, or routines you think would be helpful to be added send me a PM. For any support issues PLEASE post in the support section of the forums as someone, even maybe my self, will help you out. Now lets get started!

Download/Installation:

1) Download the beta version from here:BETA
While you may want to use the release version, the beta runs just a little better as they are adding fixes into it but can also have some bug that have not been fixed yet. Also it is updated for hot-fixes and patches much quicker. That means you will be able to run your bot for longer with less interrupts due to updates.
For those who want the release here: RELEASE

2) Create a folder wherever you want the bot to and extract all of the files to that folder. DO NOT RUN THE BOT YET!

3) Follow this link to get the extra requirements to run the bot(similar in idea as flash).
http://www.thebuddyforum.com/exilebuddy-forum/135460-install-additional-requirements.html
Some of you may already have .NET4.0 but just attempt the download to ensure you do and to update your version if it is out-of-date.

4) Once those steps are done, start up Path of Exile and login to the character you want to bot with.

5) After logging in, launch Exile Buddy from where you extracted it to. It will prompt you the first time around or on fresh installs for your Key that you got when purchasing the bot.

6) After the bot loads some assets you will have a page with Four tabs (Main, Plugins, Tools, Stats), and some buttons on some of the pages.

7) That concludes the download and installation portion of this guide.

Setup/Settings:

1) On the main tab of the bot GUI (Graphical User Interface) select the Open Settings Window. The Tab should look like this:
SGzOITY.webp

2) You should be presented with a window such as this:
OqEUIF7.webp
Mirror your settings to the above window, while you may want to set Fill Wisdom Scrolls to on if you are using the bot to identify rares through the Item Pickit(is a list of commands that tell the bot what items to pick up), that will be covered more later in the guide. Simply click the randomize shard order button. In the destroy chest ability leave it blank in tell you become comfortable with the bot. As you become more proficient with the bot you may start to experiment and see what abilities work without bugs.

3) The Chicken tab of settings. Here you will need to keep in mind what type of build you character is running. This tab is for your bot to logout or "chicken" when you reach a certain percentage of life or energy shield. If your are running a health based build keep your Chicken Energy Shield Percent to 0! and vise versa if you are running a Energy Shield Chaos Inoculation build, keep your Chicken Health Percent to 0!

Some recommend percentages:
[table="width: 400"]
[tr]
[td][/td]
[td]Standard[/td]
[td]Hardcore[/td]
[/tr]
[tr]
[td]Health[/td]
[td]15%[/td]
[td]40%[/td]
[/tr]
[tr]
[td]Energy Shield[/td]
[td]15%[/td]
[td]35%[/td]
[/tr]
[/table]
You can tweak these as you get better at botting and see what your build requires. Continuous login and logouts can seem fishy so tailor your bot not to spam its chicken. If it is chickening every 1-2 runs your character is most likely not geared enough to run this area with the bot.
For a health based NON-HARDCORE character is should look something like this:
cc2sP9K.webp

4) The Auras tab of settings. This is pretty self explanatory. Unclick all auras that you do not wish the bot to run with, and click the ones you want the bot to use.

5) The Chests tab of settings. Here you can unselect what chests your bot will open. I would recommend keeping all selected unless you notice a problem with barrels or urns on your bot. Then unselect the culprit so your bot will ignore that chest type.

6) The Logout tab of settings. This tab can be confusing tell it is explained then it just clicks and your like aaahhhh. You should see something like this:
YTcFnBf.webp
The timers are set up in Hours/Minutes/Seconds and the two timers on the same horizontal axis are ranges. Reference the picture above. Logout After Time is set to log out(stop botting) 10-11 hours after the bot started. The bot takes this range and chooses a random time in between the tenth and eleventh hour. This is a time referenced from when you clicked the start button on your bot. This is not a clock or something crazy like that.
You can change the Max Instance Time to what ever your like but for larger instances such as Catacombs or Sins, a suggested time would be 25mins, and for smaller instances like docks or ledge 15mins should allow ample time to clear the instance. Play with this time after you start botting a zone with a build to see its average runtime, then add about roughly 5 mins. Fine tune this time tell you remove most unwanted stuck sitting there time. Change your Logout After Time range to what ever suites your needs.
*I would suggest to keep your botting and active play time per account under 12 hours a day. While this is not proven this is a personal technique to prevent from getting banned. Please refer to extra materials at the end of the guide for more tips on how not to get banned.*

7) Close the settings window(no saving required its automatic) and open the Bot Config. You should see a window like this.
kRrmlXh.webp
This is where you tell your bot where to farm and what difficulty and how many deaths before it creates a new instance(This is disabled if you have chicken on, as when your bot logs out and logs in it will create a new instance.). Most areas that are easy to farm manually are decent for botting in. Boss farming and Maps have not been added yet so you must wait on these.
Besides the Bot Config is CR Config, this is not enabled for Exile combat routine but for advanced ones with GUI enabled this may work for now ignore tell another routine tells you otherwise.

8) Right below the START/STOP button on the Main tab page your will see two drop down boxes. The first one is to select what type of bot your want to run. Select or leave the first GrindBot [Simplified] Selected. This is where you would switch between Boss and Map running bots when they get released.
The second drop down menu is to select your combat routine. Stay with Exile for now but some builds will require some custom combat routines and you may find them in the Routines section of this forum or you will have to write them your selves. So choose your class/build you bot with, with care. There will be some recommended build later on in this guide.

9) Move to the Plugins tab on the main GUI. You should see this as pictured.
SmYX4d0.webp

Here you will manage your plugins, enable and config them. You should have Gem Leveler pre-installed with the bot. WARNING: This plugin is extremely buggy and needs work, they know and just have to get around to rewriting the GUI. Enable the plugin by checking off the little box. Then click the Gem level name to highlight the box then Click config. You will see a button on the bottom right that says Reload All Gems. Click this once. If you get an error message close exile buddy(CTL+ALT+DELETE find the process and end task) and reload it. Sometimes doing this after starting the bot or if your character is not is town can cause errors. As stated it is extremely buggy. Under the PageType Header you will have the Armour Piece location of your gem and The Enabled button is checked off if you want it to level this gem. This is so for gem like Cast On Damage Taken you can tell it to not level the gem! Once again this is super buggy sometimes you need to click through you gems so that the name and such all are on the right line.

10) Move to the Tools Tab of the GUI. Generally you can ignore this, but for hte more advanced user they may find many of these tools helpful. One thing of mention is the Item Filter Editor this is the GUI for the item pickit. There will be a good pickit to use later on in the guide. Generally while you are leveling up using the standard pickit is advised as it will allow your character to pick up many leveling rares. If you already have your leveling gear you can save time by using a sell all rares form of a pickit. You can use the forums to figure our how to setup a more complex pickit or find some already setup.

11) The Stats tab has some bugs but can give you some limited information about how your bot is running. Such as deaths, total runs and xp/hour.

12) To create a new pickit Go to your root (Do this when you start botting at level 55+ for this specific pickit)
Folder Location:
ExileBudyFolder(what ever you named it)\Settings\Item Filters
a) Create a copy of the Default Filter and move it to another location for safe keeping.
b) Open up the Default Filter with something like Notepad++.
c) Delete all of the text in it.
d) Copy this code into the file exactly!
Code:

e) This pickit is a general pickit to Identify rares and sell the lower level ones for shards. It also picks up all skill gems, sells chrome and jewler items, and stashes all currency, maps, and Uniques. This pickit uses lots of ID scrolls but you may be able to buffer with no problem. Thanks goes to user Lucain for making the this! His original thread http://www.thebuddyforum.com/exilebuddy-forum/152539-pickit-rules.html
f) WARNING: When you update your bot you will need to redo these steps as the default pickit get put back in here.

13) For your character and in-game you only need to do a few minor things.
a) Your bot will only use skills attached to your hotbar! (Need reference is this true?)
b) "Move" needs to be on your skill bar. If it is not, the bot will not move and tell you to place it there.
c) Make sure all your skills on your bar. Auras do not need to be there. The bot will change them out!
d) In Options menu under the tab UI, you must have Always Highlight Enabled and Key Pickup(this has changed in the later builds but is still recommended).
e) *I would suggest using 1(or more is able ie you dont need the health or mana)Quick Silver flask as it makes your runs faster. The bot logic is very terrible for using Granite or other utility flasks. I would suggest no using them.*

14) That concludes the setup for the bot. I know it was long but hopefully it was helpful.

Recommended Builds:

You can find these builds simply by googleing them. There are tons of variations. These are builds that I have noticed that people have been having success with. I have not personally tested each and everyone but quite a few of them.

Cheap-Medium Priced(1-3ex):
Leap/Ground slam Marauder: Great and tank with medium clear speeds at this price range.
Facebreaker/Infernal Blow: Higher end of the price range but very fast clear speeds, but not as tanky as marauder.
Summoner: This build can be extremely effective for clearing instances solo. But will be more straining on your graphics because of minions.
Spectral Throw: This is a bread and butter build with lots of utility. This has similar clear speeds to groud/leap slam marauder.

Medium-Highpriced(3-25ex):
Incinerate: Has medium clear speeds(very gear and build dependent, can get up it very fast clear speeds), this build also has the ability to run with very high IIR/IIQ.
Flickerstrike: This is referring to flickerstrike MF build. It has very nice clear speed and the bot handles the logic well.
Passive/Non-passive Discharge: This build is simple as it just has to allow the bot to run around and get attacked. Very simple logic, may require a custom combat routine.
Totem builds(searing bond is a poe community favourite totem build atm.) see extra materials for combat routine.

EXTREAMLY HIGH PRICED(100++ex):
For these you need the GGGGGG gear or they will get steam rolled with the bot logic or some very good combat routines(lots of coding).
Lightning arrow.

being more objective and far less subjective would really improve this.

What is the point of those low level armor?

BTW,

you know you can achieve the same by using REGEX, like: Wand[1-12]

If put into the Sell category will sell all wands from 1 till 12 from the list below, all other 13+ will be stashed.

You can do the same with all other items.

Check Apoc's post about REGEX: http://www.thebuddyforum.com/exilebuddy-forum/152539-pickit-rules.html#post1427969

Thou, i have been thinking if it would be possible this in REGEX, match all kind of weapons of tier 15 and 16.

Holy crap that is huge you may want to post that into the original pickit thread I will defiantly work or redoing the pickets my self and post a new one here.

being more objective and far less subjective would really improve this.

but: good to have, no questions asked.

Thanks for the suggestion updated it to be more objective and third person and to CLEARLY show where something is my opinion and not 100% based on fact. Some places where I was not 100% sure of my point I requested a reference or opinion.

I also added a tiny bit more to the details on the builds section, on why I put them there.

Yea, been playing around with REGEX too, if you check that link that Apoc posted, a lot if possible.

Drew wrote me this about my question of matching all WEAPONS of a determined Tier/Tier range.

[18.03.14 18:10:55] Drew Benton: you have to use something based on https://gist.github.com/anonymous/93c4e72b5acad002f371 for tier 6 weapons ieu, but you dont have to use regex for that
[18.03.14 18:11:10] Drew Benton: you can just either add each type that has 6 in it to types, like
[18.03.14 18:11:11] Drew Benton: OneHandSword6
[18.03.14 18:11:16] Drew Benton: Rapier6
[18.03.14 18:11:19] Drew Benton: etc
[18.03.14 18:12:34] Drew Benton: regex would be something like

/Weapons/.*6

but not exactly because that would match 16, so gotta add a little more to the pattern to take parse the number. There's guides and stuff online for regex, but it's a lot of trial and error

/Weapons/\w*/(?!(Wands|FishingRods))\w*/[a-zA-Z]*([1-9]|[1][0-6]),

This regex only matches weapons from 1-16 that are not wands or fishingrods
The last "6" indicates that 16 is the max. You can change it to anything between 1 and 9

I used this website
Regex Tester

and this sample
Code:

It probably needs additional testing.

Nice little thread :)

FYI there is little to NO evidence that Chicken scripts that Autolog you out too much will lead to any action against your account.

Majority of Hardcore players will use chicken scripts (not EB related) and ive seen streams of these scripts going off every time they start a new map.

But in saying that if your chicken scirpt it going off all the time, Then yes your too high of a level and your prob going to die lol sooner then later :P

c) Make sure all your auras and skills you want it to use are on the bar!(Need reference is this true?)

I can confirm this is not true. Make sure all the auras you want to use, put them in your main weapon side. Put all the skills you use in the skill bars and the bot will automatically start all auras and put the utility skills back in place.
(For all aura gems you want to level, put them on weapon swap)
