Here it goes. This is good advice for life in general: When you've got nothing to lose (you've been fired, your account has been banned, you've been pulled over, you've been charged an overdraft fee, etc.), it never hurts to ask. Always try. All service industries are still ultimately run by humans (whether it was a computer that flagged your account or not), so if you approach someone and you're cordial, you would be surprised as to what you can accomplish. Everything is possible as long as you try. Failure is not trying.
Go ahead and ask. Two scenarios: They restore your account. Or it stays banned. So you either lose nothing, or get your account banned. Why wouldn't you try?
As for people suggesting you don't even bother, I can only see ulterior motives in that.
