I'm curious, were adjustments made to GB2 to account for being able to harvest the mineral/herb nodes in Pandaria at skill lvl 1? Would make life so much easier for my farmer.

No such changes have been made to Gatherbuddy2. If you wish to propose such, this is precisely what the Feedback for Honorbuddy Improvements thread is for.

While it may seem 'obvious' that this needs to be done, the development team's resources are limited, and they work against an overall priority list. Part of the lists priority rating is determined by the desire in the user Community. Thus, its important to express your desires in the correct threads.
