the "new" EULA

no this isn't a "oh my god we are all screwed."

I'm just asking if anyone has noticed anything significantly different in the EULA, and if so, please shareit with us ^_^

Just wanted to post something different amongst all these "omg where's my bot. y u no update it instantly,useless devs. " posts

The CPU and RAM thing is still in there, but I didn't notice anything significantly different new, no.
 
i guess i have nothing better to do since its been so long since i played wow myself i bearly know how to play :P
 
Yeah considering that they have full access to all info on a WoW-player's computer, I was also thinking that since it is criminal not to report a crime, one could in theory get reported for digital crimes of which there might be trace on the computer. Correct me if I'm wrong in this, but in theory Blizzard could have you reported to authorities for having for instance a downloaded movie, since if they accidentally see it, it would be a crime by them not to report it.

So additionally we are paying Blizzard to work for them, and in the process they have full access to our comps :)

Perhaps it is. perhaps it isn't. i do doubt Blizzard hs nothing better to do unless some CISPA/internet bill passes to motivate them to do so for some profit or another.

Not entirely true, they can only report and spy on processes and functions that relate to the Warcraft application, so they cant legally scan through mydocuments folder and catalogue and hold information on what they find, this would be spyware and would be illegal.

Your excerpt there asserts that Blizzard own your account and intellectual property therein.

The scanning of RAM and CPU processes is a little more ambiguous -many 'claim' it is an illegal act, but there is no evidence of this -and both Trion and NCSoft issue the intent within their Terms of Use, almost word-for-word. Whilst having your consent to scan your RAM and CPU, Blizzard does not have full access to your computer. Specifically Blizzard state that the scanning of RAM and CPU is "FOR UNAUTHORIZED THIRD PARTY PROGRAMS RUNNING CONCURRENTLY WITH WORLD OF WARCRAFT" (their caps) and I believe it would be a breach of their Terms of Use if they disclosed information or data beyond that definition to any third party.

Bossland GmbH is currently in the process of sueing Blizzard over the EULA/ToU... I believe their contention is that customers did not (1) agree to the ToU when we purchased the game/licenses and (2) the ToU is "incomrehensible and intransparent".

Given the recent bans, I was expecting an updated ToU to be honest but as it stands I think we are all botting with a little more caution than previous! ;)

So the WoW ToU I was referring to states the following:

"XVI. Acknowledgements. You hereby acknowledge that:

1. DURING YOUR REGISTRATION FOR THE BATTLE.NET SERVICE YOU GRANT YOUR CONSENT TO THE FOLLOWING: WHEN RUNNING, THE WORLD OF WARCRAFT CLIENT MAY MONITOR YOUR COMPUTER'S RANDOM ACCESS MEMORY (RAM) AND/OR CPU PROCESSES FOR UNAUTHORIZED THIRD PARTY PROGRAMS RUNNING CONCURRENTLY WITH WORLD OF WARCRAFT. So they would be violating the law if they would check anything else but something directly associated with WoW, which would nullify my previous thoughts on them reporting my private matters.
 
1 thing they cannot read your memory or cpu specific only for wow then everthing what is in your memory of cpu would be scanned so they braking the law with doing it
 
The Ram scanning and all that has already been discussed in a legal court so there is no point in discussing it here. Just because they have it in the EULA doesnt mean its legal or that they do it. Also the topic is not about discussing it, its about seeing if there is anything new from the previous one.

So good i live in sweden where in fac "Downloading" Movies are legal, and also if the "Scan the movie by accident" i could just sue blizzard for tresspassing on my computer.

You can always decide not to play the game .. nobody is forcing you.

And your comparison is totally out of line and I'd say a moderator should remove you.
 
thread closed, the eula didn't change recently and everything they are doing is on the up and up. not only that but you guys cant discuss this kind of stuff without someone getting offended one or more of you always manage to jump the shark.
