How To: Maximize Your XP/Gold Per Hour!
Recently, I started botting Inferno. I used to do it legit, but it's so boring. Anyway, when I started, I was doing well to get 10 million xp an hour, and MAYBE 125k gold an hour and I was routinely seeing post that they were getting anywhere from 25 million to 40 million xp/hour! I thought "What in the blue FUCK am I doing wrong here?" Well, I've learned a few things that I'd like to pass on to newer botters so that people don't have to be confused like I was!

1. Set-up, Add-ons and Settings
First we need to get our settings right. I won't go into how to install Demonbuddy, as there are a multitude of guides that address that. What we'll cover first are the addons that are necessity for successful botting.
1) Questtools (Get it here)
Questtools interacts with pathing to make things easier for the bot to navigate. There's nothing to really configure or figure out with it, either. Just... just download it ok?

This is a nice, lightweight little relogger that you can set up to take breaks and stuff for you, too. Refer to rrrix's thread about it and the original YAR thread for set up and details, as there is a definite right and wrong way to set that stuff up.
3) Trinity and TrinityRoutine (Get it here)
Let me address TrinityRoutine first; basically, it replaces a need for another combat routine. The settings that are included are superb, and the use for another routine is nonexistant. Get it, use it, live it, love it.
Now, from how I understand it, Trinity replaces a lot of the stock parts of Demonbuddy and makes them better.
From Giles:
I haven't used Demonbuddy without Trinity, so I can't attest to how Demonbuddy works not using Trinity.
Settings for Trinity (in pictures!):
This is the first splash page that opens when you open the configuration for Trinity. If you want to maximize your yields, it's generally not a good idea to prioritize treasure goblins any more than normal. Changing the pull ranges of elites and trash packs will yield more or less xp, depending on what they're set at (duh...). If I'm not mistaken, trash mobs are going to be the bulk of your exp yield, so you want as many pulled as possible, in as big a groups as possible, therefore I recommend setting "Trigger Range for Elite" at max (150) and "Trigger Range for Non-Elite" at max (120). If you're botting with a class that's kind of squishy, then I would recommend reticking "Attempt to avoid AoE." In all honesty, I'd recommend reticking it no matter WHAT class you have.
**RULE OF THUMB: you want to spend about 1-2 seconds on trash mobs and no more than 10 seconds on elite packs. This is true of ANY Monster Power you bot at. It's generally recommended that you start out at MP1 or 2 and sit there for a good amount of time, like until you've got 250k, 300k dps and then you can look at different difficulties. If you're botting a Bard like I am, you know they're built like a brick shit house, and you can destroy mobs pretty quickly. Your yields, surprisingly enough, are STILL going to be better botting on low MP until you hit super high DPS fields.
Next comes your class-specific splash window. Generally, the settings that come standard are pretty good for keeping your bot alive and well. The only thing that I would recommend messing with is "Potion %" and "Globe %." The toon I bot on doesn't need potions because he's built like a brick shit house, so I turned it off. I wouldn't recommend that unless you know for a fact that your toon is not ever going to die. Generally, I recommend setting "Potion %" to about 35 or 40% or you will burn through potions faster than you can pick them up. Health Globe %... eh, you can put that one as high as you want it. Generally no lower than 50% or things will get hairy.
Kite distance is another important thing. For a ranged class, you can either facetank stuff or have your bot run away when something gets too close. Currently, for Wizards, you can pretty much burn shit to the ground before it gets too close, so kiting generally isn't a thing in low MP for them. Same for DH. One of the most efficient DH farming builds (with a bot) right now involves taking Grenades, Caltrops and Spike Trap and facetanking the SHIT out of mobs using Shadow Power. I will admit complete ignorance as to how WDs work, so I can't tell ya how kite distance interacts there.
This is the item-pick up splash. Generally, these settings are up to you. You can choose to only pick up i63 items or you can choose to pick up i60+ items. Bottom line is, it's going to affect how much experience you get an hour, but it can make your gold per hour higher (for example: you pick up EVERY single magical/rare/legendary. It's going to fill your inventory up very quickly, but you're going to be selling stuff for a few hundred gold to a few thousand, so that will affect how much gold/hour you make. If you choose to salvage your stuff instead, that will affect how much you make up front, but crafting supplies sell VERY quickly on the AH, so feasibly, you can make a few hundred thousand gold just salvaging and selling the parts). I recommend the settings I have pictured, or MAYBE ratcheting it down to i61 or 62+. Remember, though, that it WILL affect your xp/hour in an adverse way.
For the slider next to "Minimum Gold Piles", it shouldn't be lower than 100. And I'll explain that more later on.
Pretty self-explanatory; this splash controls what you break and what you open. Generally, it's a waste of time to break every container you can find.
As for Shrines, just play around with what you want. You can't go wrong keeping shrines ticked, it's just preference.
MAKE SURE THAT "TRINITY UNSTUCKER" IS TICKED. MAKE SURE "ALLOW GAME RESTARTS" IS TICKED. You can play with the slider for "Enable Gold Inactivity", but it's generally ok to leave it at around 300.
Probably the most significant boost to bot capability (regarding settings, at least) comes from "Enable TPS Modification." In layman's terms, it makes the bot smarter, but it eats up more memory. If your computer is slow: keep it around 10, if your computer is fast: keep it around 30.
That's it for Trinity's settings.
4) SimpleFollow (Get it here.)
Another gem from rrrix. With the way that party play works now, you get more loot, you kill shit faster and you level quicker. For every player, though, monsters get +75% health. So if you're running your own bot and three other bots, then monsters have +300% health. BUT! The damage stays the same (or it scales minutely; the jury seems to be out on that one on the game forums). In addition, you kill a monster, and it goes through its roll to see what's dropped, this happens on a per-player basis, and if you've got 4 bots running, your chances of rolling high end items increases. In layman's terms, if you're running 1 bot and you kill a pack, it may drop 1 or 2 rares. Now, if you're running 4 bots in a party, you kill a pack, it drops 1 or 2 rares per person. Yes, per person, so you've got 4-8 rares dropping now, which exponentially increases your chances for rolling legendaries.
Remember: these are just a guideline, and you can play around with them as much as you want to find what's best for you.
2. Profiles and Places to Bot
Obviously, one of the biggest impacts to hourly yields is where you're killing stuff. With the recent changes to mob density, there are now many more viable options than there used to be. Basically what it comes down to is preference, class and gear.
Act 1:
This is where you're going to go as soon as you hit Inferno and you're ready to farm. The mobs here hit slightly harder than Nightmare Act 4, so this is a good place to get your nest-egg, get a set of good gear and get to gettin' it.
FallenDev's Profiles - FallenDev is a really good guy; his profiles are what I use really exclusively for Act 1 farming. You can't go wrong with anything this guy has made, really.
Smowbeast's Act 1 Weeping Hollow MP10 Run - This is built for MP10 runs. There are fewer blue packs than most places, so you're getting that good good in the form of melty trash packs. Like we discussed earlier, this isn't recommended for toons with less than probably 200k dps unbuffed. But, I mean, you can give it a try if you want to!
Act 2:
Act 2 is my preferred Barb farming act. A few places have the highest mob density in the game, the mobs don't hit all that hard, the paths are linear (for the most part) and the xp is fat.
Smowbeast's Act 2 Profiles - This, in my opinion, is one of the most solid profiles out there in the public realm right now, especially if you're melee. I use the profile without Oasis in it, simply because I don't need keys.
Estmat's Leoric's Signet Profile - This is a fun niche profile if you're looking to farm Leoric's Signet. But, like the description says, it's geared to be run at high/max MP, so be aware of that.
Act 3:
This is where ranged classes tend to perform better, in my opinion. This was the case when I was playing legit, and it was CERTAINLY the case when I started botting on my DH. Plus, there are a litany of good profiles out there for this act.
rrrix's Long Act 3 Profile - This bad boy runs all the spots mentioned in rrrix's post and then randomizes where you go. Let me restate that: THIS THING RANDOMIZES WHERE YOU GO. No more linear runs that make you look like a bot!
Smowbeast's SUPER Long Act 3 Profile - Smowbeast did it again with this thing. While it doesn't randomize what area you go to, he pretty much hit every high note for this entire act, and this profile is just generally awesome.
FallenDev's Act 3 Profiles FallenDev offers us a pretty sweet selection of what we want run in Act 3. he hits some of the same areas as the other profiles, but he gives us a Key Warden option and a non Key Warden option, and I personally like that. Plus, in typical FallenDev fashion, the profile is battle-tested and solid.
Ooasauron's Act 3 Speed Run - This is a nifty little speed run that rockets from Skycrown to Rakkis and then is done. Simple, clean, good xp/g per hour.
Act 4:
I don't recommend botting in Act 4. The monster density isn't as high, the mobs hit like trucks and it just generally isn't conducive to keeping a high xp/gold per hour yield going. That being said, if you want to try it out, feel free to browse over into the profiles and try some stuff and report back.
3. Recommended/Viable Builds
I see multitudinous threads all over the forum about what builds to use for whatever. Well, I'm going to try my best to help y'all out.
Demon Hunter
Grenades/Spike Trap build
The crux of this build is that you facetank everything, and the absurd amount of AOE damage that you'll do will basically sustain you forever. This is what I use for my DH, and I've farmed up to MP6 successfully with this (I haven't tried any higher, to be honest, because I started using my barb
). I've gotten some pretty solid yields from this and I'd recommend using it if you're botting in Act 2, or if you're botting in confined spaces in general. It loses a modicum of its effectiveness as the killing field widens up and you can't choke point stuff to death.
Bola/Rapid Fire Build
This is what I use for general purpose botting on my DH. Rapid Fire tears through mobs like tissue paper (in addition, you get homing rockets to pick off the annoying outliars that the bot doesn't normally get). Sentry tears through mobs like tissue paper. Rain of Vengeance tears through mobs like tissue paper. Your ferret even fucks shit up. Obviously you can change this around as much as you want, but it's required to leave in Sentry with that rune, Rapid Fire and Bolas. Bolas build up an INSANE amount of Hatred, especially if you're in a really dense area and you get a few good solid crits. I've gone from 0 to full Hatred/Discipline in just a few bolas before because of Nightstalker. With this, too, I'd recommend fiddling around with your Health Globe pick up percent because of the passive Vengeance. This build is generally pretty good for stuff like Act 3 and Act 1 where you're in open spaces, but you still have solid mob density.
Barbarian
WW Barb
My bread and butter. I have almost 80% damage reduction when my shout is up. On its own, this build is superlative. With Wrath of the Berserker, you become indestructible. From my experiences, WotB uptimes are... well... non-existent. I have my bot set to pop this as soon as a hard elite pack is encountered, and it basically stays up for the duration of that, and then falls off. You don't need it for trash; you really don't. Like the DH Face-tank build, you get the highest yields doing this in tight, bottleneck-y places like Act 2 Stormhalls and West/East Canal Ways.
Ranged Stupid-ness
In all honesty, I've only played with this very briefly, but it's one of those things that you look at and thing "This is the stupidest thing I've ever seen..." then you try it and you laugh until you fall out of your chair. This isn't a build to bot with, generally. I mean, you have the capability to, but in comparison to a WW or a Rend barb, this is kinda just a "for shits and giggles" thing.
Rend Barb
This is kind of my dumbed-down-for-botting Rend build. You frontload AOE the shit out of stuff with Cleave, drop Rends left and right, Overpower and win.
Rend Barb II
Another version of a Rend Barb specifically tailored towards survival and life bleed. I use this build when I wanna go play in MP10 because I don't have the gear to survive in it very well just yet. Hammer of the Ancients - Birthright is a pretty hilarious substitution for Seismic Slam.
Wizard
Disintegration Beam Wizard
This is what I use to farm low MP on my Wizard. Disintigration Beam - Chaos Nexus creates a nice little cushion around you that enemies usually just kind of melt in, especially lower health melee enemies. Like I said, this is what I use for low MP stuff. It isn't a great build, but it's bot-friendly, that's for certain.
ETwister Facetank Wizard
This is a fun little dandy. Much like the DH facetank build, you sit in one spot and shit all over a bunch of enemies. The point of this is to have a really high crit chance so you can keep Diamond Armor and Frost Nova up indefinitely. You can change out Magic Weapon with like... Spectral Blades - Healing Blades if you find yourself running into trouble.
Archon Wizard
This is your standard Archon Wizard build, sans Energy Armor - Prismatic Armor. By all means, if you want to trade the 5% crit for 25% resistance, do it. It just comes down to whether or not you need survivability or more damage. Basically what this build aims to do is keep you in Archon 24/7, allowing you to melt mobs. And if/when Archon drops off and is on CD, unlikek other Archon builds which focus on frontloading as much damage as humanly possible, you have a few tools to deal damage and not die.
Monk
Tempest Rush Monk
Run fast, kill shit, collect loot. Pretty plain and dry. I wouldn't recommend using this in its present form much past MP3 as you lack very much defense.
SpeedPalming Monk
This is what my monk uses to farm high MP stuff/do Ubers. Monks aren't exactly the easiest things to farm with, but this build helps out a LOT. The crux of this build is to blow shit up as fast as humanly possible with Exploding Palm and spam the everloving shit out of Mantra of Conviction - Overawe.
Starter Monk]
This is what I used to start out on Inferno with my monk. LOTS of sustainability, lots of defense, good DPS. If you're having trouble staying alive, you can change out your Ally with Breath of Heaven - Blazing Wrath or Heavenly Circle.
Witch Doctor
Acid Cloud Zombie Bears Witch Doctor
I know next to nothing about WDs. I have a level 60 one that got power leveled, and I have a pretty nice suite of gear for him, but honestly, I'm just going off what my WD friends tell me and what I'm finding out works alright for me as I'm playing/writing this. This seems pretty solid; you have good survivability, you have good spamables and summonables... I mean?
Summon All the Things Witch Doctor
This build has a lot going on; many summonable things. Corpse Spiders are a big reason I don't play WDs; they're creepy as fuck. But, they're solid and let's face it: throwing spiders at stuff is kind of cool. Jungle Fortitude can be plugged in if you need it.
Haunt/Spirit Barrage Witch Doctor
Haunt is insanely awesome. Spirit Barrage is insanely awesome. Summoning all the things... is insanely awesome. Another plus? There's no fucking spiders. You can replace Zombie Bears with Zombie Dogs - Leeching Beasts if you wwant to.
BONUS Summon All the Things Pt II The Remix The Redux Bringing all the Things Back (to life)
I played MP4 with this just now and it's kind of funny how stupid this is. I drop Grasp of the Dead, summon all the things and tab out. You can probably change out Zombie Bears for like... Haunt or something stupider. WDs in general I think are stupid and under utilized. *shrug*
4. Gear and Roles to Look For When Gearing
Magic and Gold Find
Ok, so, this guide is all about utilizing whatever means possible to make the most gold and XP an hour, right? Well, no setting, no profile, no build, no... nothing is going to do the job like good ol' fashion gear and an understanding of how this stuff works. ChromeonRust did an awesome (if not boring) video explaining Magic Find coefficients and how it works; the same applies for Gold Find. That video can be found right here.
First, let's take a look at what we can max out at in regard to Magic/Gold Find and Bonus xp.
343% is the absolute cap for Magic and Gold find. Gear, Paragon level, Shrines, and followers cap you out at 343% with a max gem in your helmet. Neph Valor stacks DO stack with this, though. The MP bonus also stacks with this. At 5 Neph Valor stacks and MP 10, you're looking at 625% Magic/Gold Find. I'm not going to focus so much on Magic Find since the point of this guide is to maximize Gold find.
Now, bonus XP is a trickier subject... From what I understand, it's wholly possible to get upwards of over +100% bonus XP. Woof.
So... how do we get that...?
Nephalim Valor
Each stack of Neph Valor grants you +15% Bonus XP for a maximum of 75% all around. It stacks past the hard cap of gold find and magic find on gear, Paragon Levels, followers and shrines. Nice.
Follower
First, let's look at our follower. We can get up to 30% additional gold/magic find from our follower. If you're worried about Magic Find, then it's an imperative to take the Warrior follower. Why is that? Well, he's the only follower you can equip with a Sun Keeper one handed mace. It's possible to role up to 45% Magic Find on this bad boy. It's ridiculous.
If you're worried about solely gold find, then it's an imperative that you take the Enchantress and give her a Grand Vizier since that staff has between 40-50% gold find on it. Woah.
Other than that, you need to make sure to find as high of magic find/gold find items as you can. You can role up to 50% gold find on amulets, 25% gold find on rings, and I think that follower items can have 25% gold find on them, too. As for magic find, it caps on amulets at 45%, rings at 20% and I don't think I've ever seen that affix on follower items. So what I've done is hit my follower with as much gold find as I POSSIBLY can and I got 99% gold find with complete shit stats because I'm not using an enchantress yet. So, hopefully you aren't relying on your follower for DPS...
Now, for bonus XP. You still get 30% of what your follower gets, even in this regard. A Hellfire ring (+35% XP) and Leoric's Signet (+30%) are wholly possible.
Gear
The next place to find Gold Find is gear. I had next to none on my gear going into botting. I think I picked up mostly the same set of pretty solid gear, except with gold find, for about 10 mill. Now I'm sitting at 278% GF before Paragon levels or Monster Power. I'll set out a quick breakdown of upper maximums for each piece that you can get gold find on:
Head - 25% (+33% from a gem)
Chest - 100% (YES. ONE-FUCKING-HUNDRED PERCENT. It's an item called Goldskin.)
Feet- 25%
Hands - 25%
Shoulders - 25%
Legs - 25%
Bracers - 25%
Ring - 25%
Necklace - 50%
Belt - 25%
2H Staff - 50%
1H Weap - 0%
OH - 25%
So feasibly, walking into Inferno, a fresh 60 that can wield a staff can have gold find cap. But, walking into Inferno, if you plan to bot on MP1, and if you gear your follower for gold find, a completely reasonable number to shoot for is around 215%+ percent and still be able to do damage and not die.
Bonus XP is kind of a different story... Here's a breakdown where you get raw +% XP:
Rings: 35%/30% (65% altogether)
Helmet Sockets:33%
Cain's Set (there is a green set called Cain's ______ that nets you an additional +30% xp, but it's a hard call to use a set meant for level 20's)
So feasibly, without Cain's Set, you can ALMOST get 100% bonus XP just by yourself.
Now, with your follower, you can break that. I'm actually not sure if there's a cap for bonus XP. If someone knows, let me know.
Paragon Levels
Once you hit level 60, you start to accrue experience towards what are called Paragon Levels. Basically what they do is give you increased base stats (int, str, vit, dex) and add a passive 3% to gold and magic find per Paragon level. Once you hit Paragon 100, you'll basically be able to take off all your magic/gold find gear and go put on regular person gear. And also, as you level up and your MF/GF increases, you'll be able to shimmy your way back into regular gear, too. How Paragon levels interact with your MF/GF can be found in this Diablowiki article.
Monster Power and How It Effects XP/Gold
Learn this chart:
The final way to augment your gold/xp yields is through Monster Power.
Generally, botting on anything more than MP3 isn't recommended. I botted on MP6 with my barb for a while and it was... alright. I didn't get killed or anything, but the XP was slightly slower than just doing MP3. I believe that this was the case because I didn't have any gold find/+exp pieces, so my yields were lower because I wasn't taking advantage of the stacking effect of Monster Power. Basically, it comes down to this: as you pick up more/better gear, you can bot at higher MPs for better yields. Simple.

What is it?
Trinity is a plugin that replaces and improves many features in Demonbuddy. It replaces the entire of combat, avoidance, all item handling (both picking items up and deciding what to loot or not loot), all world object handling (shrines, containers, destructibles). Everything has been created from scratch, and has been designed to improve Demonbuddy's intelligence throughout, add more automation, reduce stuck chances, make parts of the bot seem more "human-like", reduce the amount of work you have to do yourself configuring the bot or sorting through your items, and more.
I haven't used Demonbuddy without Trinity, so I can't attest to how Demonbuddy works not using Trinity.

Simple.
