So i see people posting up all the time saying they are running 10+ bots. Even people running bots on multiple pc's say they do 5+ on each pc.

Let me start by saying I have only ONE pc. I have also tried downloading the d3prefs with the lowest settings and it didnt really do much for me.

I can run 3 bots at most, and even then my computer fans sound like they are going to blow up. I normally run just two at a time and they both work pretty good but my cpu usage is still at like 70-80 percent. When I run 3x bots they have issues with spikes and such off and on and my cpu usage is at like 96%.

Also when im running 2x bots webpages and everything else take 3-5 extra seconds to load up or switch over. When im running 3x it can take an extra 10 seconds or so.

I got a pretty good computer about 2 1/2 years ago I dont know why I would have any problems, but im open to any advice.

My pc stats:

Internet - I know this isnt the issue, I have like 30mbs download and 5 upload and never had any issue
OS - Running windows 7 home premium 64 bit
Processor - quad core 3.40 ghz (AMD PhenomII x4 965 processor 3.40ghz)
Memory - Had 4.0 GB of ram and upgraded about a month ago to 12.0 GB of ram
Graphics/Video card - ATI Radeon HD 5700 series

Any other info you need just let me know. I would really like to be able to run 4-5 bots at least.

Edit: Also what should my fps's be set at in options? Currently i have them all unticked.

from your specs your getting about max performance to be honest. Currently, i have one machine with only 5 bots that has an i7 960 with a GTX 260. Your bottle neck is going to be your processor mainly. Another thing you may be able to try is increasing your virtual memory with page file. Honestly im starting to think GPU isnt that much of a necessity while running those low prefs. I would suspect anything comparable to the 260, would be adequate. To give you a perspective of what you should be expecting, at least with the new processors:
i7-3770k-16 MAX
i5-3570k- 8-10 (someone on the forum claims 12, but i was unable to match results)

Hope this helps.

It doesn't help to much, i know very little about processors besides that more cores = better

ive heard of i5 i7 and such but dont know specs outisde of anything

any added info you can give me on this would be appreciated

Go here:
Gaming CPU Hierarchy Chart - Best Gaming CPUs For The Money: April 2013
CTRL-F and then type your processor in. The top of the list, the higher quality. Intel are on the left, AMD are on the right. If you move from right to left, you will get comparable processors for both companies. Your processor was 2 tiers below the i7 i listed in the previous post.

Graphics Card Hierarchy Chart - Best Graphics Cards For The Money: April 2013
Same thing as the processor, CTRL-F and find your GPU

In short, you will need a new computer if you want to run more bots.

boo, i thought it might come down to that lol

well thanks for the input ill deff take a look at the list and keep in mind when i get a new pc, unfortunately thats not going to be now or anytime soon probably :/

The guy above me is correct. Your processor is a major bottleneck. If you get an i7, you would need an entire new motherboard. I think your processor is a +3 but I forget. You can uprade your prcessor as long as its the same socket type

I think that a good one even if it was upgradable would cost as much as a new pc :/

Phenom II x4 black was the first rig i started on last year.

I know it will do 4x D3 played legit via isboxer and it will run 4x D3 +db np at decent settings (10tps/20fps).

You may be able to squeeze 5-6 out of it if you clean up the OS and optimize out of aero and the tons of other garbage.

Edit d3prefs via guide on these forums and cap fps to 15-17 and you should see an imediate performance boost. FPS is prolly the single biggest gain followed by TPS in trinity then d3prefs.

If you have an AM3+ board you can upgrade to newer 8 core cpus, just might have to do a bios update or something but its possible. Not 100% sure about this but it's something id check into as it would be by far the best gain for $ (8 core cpu + more ram).

What is tps?

Also tnx bizzy, i dont know why i ever unchecked the fps personally, but i was running 2x bots @ 15 fps and playing manually on a third with fps unchecked and my cpu usages instead of being at 96 like it was before was only sitting at 40-45. HUGE help

If i ran bots and all set fps to 15 I could probably run 4-5x and use less cpu usage and not be as effected as i was when i had 2 going

You can run maximum of 5 bots on a i7-960? or you currently run only 5 bots?

I pushed it to the limit with 8 on the 960, but it seemed very unstable. I have only 5 on it because its an older cpu/gpu and I don't want to kill it (used to be main gaming machine). I have a i5 3570k, gpu 660ti, with 8 (pushed it to 10, but again unstable). And a i7-3770, gpu 660ti, that has 8 currently and has plenty of room for growth.

Hm, I have a i7-920 with 5 bots running on it ATM. 4890 ATI GPU. Values are 40% for cpu and 45% for gpu, although I need more than 12 GB of ram, with 5 clients 80% is full. Setting up a pagefile.sys really fucks up the system speed, even though I make the pagefile on my Samsung 840 pro SSD. I really believe I can run about 7-8 on my system, with more RAM. Then again, my GPU becomes the next bottleneck.

More cores does not necessarily mean better.

There's different architecture in between models and brands.

The newer AMD chips can effectively run a good amount of bots for cheaper than i7's, but over time, you'll be paying more through electricity anyways. Intel is the way to go for longterm.

well with AMD you might have to pay more in the summer because you will run your air conditioner more but in winter maybe you save some money
