Hi, i've been running 3 clients at 90% CPU usage, i downloaded a d3prefs file from another thread but it hasnt been making a difference. The graphics went to shit but its still using the same amount of CPU. the FPS are 15 and 15. My demon buddy is taking up 15% per client, and each d3 is taking 15%. I saw a screenshot of someone having them all down to 3% each. I run 2.9Ghz quad core, 6gb memory, windows 7. Pretty good video card to. I thought i read somewhere that you can lower the colour to 16-bit for the game.

Anyways im wondering if its normal for DB to be running at 15% per, and if you knew how i could lower the D3 cpu usage.

Thanks

...Someone that's sitting at 3 % cpu is probably running a better processor that yourself... The percentage is based on your individual processor's power lol.

Try this.

Changed the hardware class, physical, shadow, and clutter qualities, the bitdepth, and all of your sound effects (why are you playing sounds on bots? :P).

what blista posted should help a lot. the 16 bitmode and the hardwareclas 1

k, well why dont you exit out of all your diablos, change the prefs, and see if it helps?

it replaced the old prefs. and no it doesnt change after i log in again

well that one aside, any way to lower the demon buddy % usage? each one im running is at 15%

I don't think there's much you can do about DB CPU usage... Like I said earlier, you've got an old processor if DB is taking up 15% lol.

hi CookieDoh, Beyond lowering your d3prefs there are a couple things you can do to lower your cpu usage.
That being said, the 3% db usage ss you saw could be from me, or other person using i73770k oc. That processor is far better than the one you have. What Blista and Harmacyntire told you is the best way to tweak your cpu usage but, check your gpu is able to handle it....even if you think your gpu is great, sometimes you could find nasty surprises, every program / game can affect your gpu wildly. Use Gpu-z to check your gpu load and if it is above 85 percent, it could be affecting your cpu usage.

Well, back to the op, you can try to lower your db cpu usage these ways:
1) Set a lower tps in trinity. ( trinity config/advanced. Lower the slilder to 8, check if there's an improvement.)
2) Set a slower cache refresh rate (same as above, default is 100, try 300-400).
3) Increase affinity on all your d3 and db processes to high. Yar can set this up for you, if you don't use yar use windows task manager.
4) This could seem obvious but....there are usually a lot of background processes running that are just eating your ram and cpu, and they are utterly useless. Clear your msconfig!
5) Disable ALL logging in Db, it actually helps a bit.

Good luck!

Nice tips, pimpampum. I assume by disabling logging in DB you just set your "Log Level" to "none"? Is there anything else to it other than that?

In trinity/advanced, you have a lot of log-recording options. Disabling/unchecking them all does indeed lower your cpu usage per db, not by a lot, but it helps!
