Read some d3pref guides, including the one from giles that says to set DisplayModeBitDepth "16". I have also read some ppl complaining that doing so lowered their gph/iph significantly though. Curious people's opinions on that. Thanks
 
there should be no reason to do that, its not 1998 anymore and all machines can easily do and process 32bit color.
 
Well when spread across a large amount of bots, my understanding was that it would lower system resources, allowing you to squeeze in more max bots. That's what I garnered from giles post at least

i think it would depend on the game, because if by default it uses 32bit color textures and stuff, then your video card would have to be down sampling them. i just think its more trouble then its worth, just for a few cycles.

You didn't find degradation in your gph or iph? That's the only negative responses I've found, that it lowers efficiency of the bots, trying to gauge the sincerity of those claims
 
Well i run with a bare bones settings file, MipBias maxed so half the screen is fuzzy and I run at 550-600k/hr in gold alone on all my para100's.
 
Would you mind sharing your prefs file so I could compare it to the giles recommendation?
 
You are right, it's not 1998 but those of us trying to run as many bots as we can on one piece of hardware are finding that 16 bit uses considerably less resources than 32. Running 32 for the sake of a bot is a massive waste of resources in my experience.
 
I'm gonna have to do some testing, I'll leave my results here to add to the pile when I'm done. Also curious about fps, lowers cpu/gpu to lower, but people also reporting lowered iph with that as well. I'll have to do some trials!
