Tony, you took down some Combat Routine threads...where users had shared so many hours of work..

This is getting ridiculous...without the outside developers you guys would lose business.

Don't you understand that the more you guys use the heavy handed tactics on Combat Routine Developers all it does is PISS OFF the people who paid for your product!

Explain this attitude? 370 pages of group think gone down the tubes..all because Tony just thinks he can?

Its not right and your customers will be the ones suffering...

We all ready paid you (some of us...many many times over)..

I am pissed...and I bet others are as well...

This just got interesting now.

Edit: Hey Tuanha just posted why his combat routines weren't showing up,

They got taken down because they broke some Rules. Once those things are settled im sure the CC's will reappear with the full thread

nothing to worry about dude the thread wil come back once the zygor links are removed from his cc that was the only issue the threads are just hidden once that is fixed it wil pop up again you can stil use his cc by the private special edition of svn

But I agree.

Maybe a poll or something would be good.

Why is it bad when somebody also charges some donations for their additional work?

Nobody is forced to pay something extra

I don't buy the fact his routines were taken down for Zygor or whatever...this is about the fact he has 2 versions (paid and non paid) and the Zygor thing was an excuse (IMHO)..its about the money...

I have a new definition of irony...Honorbuddy banning people for violating a TOS.

Somewhere on the Forum was stated as long the Free CC /works/ you can have a paid version, but if the Free version is crippled it will be removed.
I'Ve never used extensively Tuanha CC's, but it looked like they weren't crippled, and even tuanha stated that it is because of Zygor why should be lie?

BW

New rules dictated that we were not at all allowed to discuss a paid version of anything, whether it was hosted on a different site or was available off some other special svn just for it.
Paid versions have become, as above mentioned, against the forum User Agreement.
If anyone would like my skype info just pm me.

Reference to newest* rules: http://www.thebuddyforum.com/honorb...100369-rules-update-developers-must-read.html

Edit: There is one thing I'd like to address within those rules:
...the free stuff is(most of the time) outdated and barely working...
Outdated? If it works with the latest HB api then it can't be really outdated. And that was not long ago when you archived every single thread with a project for the old api.

Barely Working?
So what are the definitions of "barely working"?
I have made sure that any project I have on tbf worked 100% for how I described it in the thread.
How can you decide that it is then barely working? Because there is something that does more?
You can always say something is barely working since a pb profile could be made for it, and then stuff could be added

Thing getting not funny as my FREE Shadow Priest and Death Knight CR is removed too >.<

And I promise a DK update today xD

Please bring back threads immediately without those combat routines the product is worthless to me.

TuanHA i will also pay well to get a good warlock combat routine going (esp for PVP and hi-end raiding). Message me.. I am a paid suscriber and happy to be one your routines have never let me down!

Why can't users charge for a full paid version of their behaviours? You haven't trademarked the syntax of XML, you don't own the intellectual property of ones time & hard work. Terms of service isn't a line you guys can use. You'd never need a ToS in the first place as what you've created is completely illegal in a court of law. You have no grounds for legal action against onces hard work. If someone magically turned HB into an all-singing-all-dancing hack with server access to edit inventories, would it effect you? No, because Blizzard would see it as a hack and not specifically HB (which wouldn't matter anyway because you're breaking Blizzard ToS just as the hack would be).

I saw this and though "is this really happening?". "Are members forced away from making money from their hard work?". "The developers get an income from creating a bot which runs these behaviours... why can't someone else make money from the time they've spent creating new material?". "The developers of HB have no grounds, surely, other than to ban users, in enforcing against paid behaviours".

So maybe I've got this wrong, but I've seen this elsewhere and it pisses me off quite frankely. Intellectual property cannot and SHOULD NOT be reserved by the service owner. Facebook would be thrown into a court if they stole an artists picture and sold it, if Google took their cloud files from all the users and began distributing them for income. So my point is, you have a product.... it provides a service.... content within that service is something you do not have jurestiction over and if you feel the need to police that, then you're crippling the community and the creative flow. If you think that someone is breaching ToS for creating content, you're very wrong, if they were re-selling your product then sure.

I can understand if there are Zygor references and resold content from their guides, that would be an issue as it could damage the reputation that HB has - however, if that's not the case and my comments above ring true, learn to relax. Don't get greedy. And discuss it :)

If something is deemed not allowed by the owner of the company, we have no choice but to act against it.
While some of us don't agree with the rule change, we will all enforce it.
The topic of TuanHA's routines was brought up in our chat today. No advertisements are allowed, and I guess this applies to WoW addons as well.
I don't have a WoW account so that I can load up the routine and see the offending links, so I am going on what was said to me in this mornings chat.

Also, we have the right to take anything down from our forums. You paid us for the bot, yes.
Most of the higher end things (Routines/plugins/etc.) are provided by the community, but also have basics to get your from point A to point B by our developers.

I love you guys by the way - I'm just in a bad mood from work today. I do think you need to view each case invidually. There are some members here who have dedicated so many hours of their time, I think a plain rule against it would be a lack of respect in a way. Sharing my thoughts.

Like I said...I knew this was not about Zygor..someone is pissed that people are making money...off your product...omg the irony of that..

What you need to tell the owners of the company is that the 3rd Party Developers MAKE YOUR PRODUCT BETTER!! Thus more people will buy Honorbuddy and the Owner will make MORE money!

It is no different than people buying particular phones because they want access to Apps...No Apps...no phone sales...just go ask Nokia how well that strategy worked out for them...

The entire premise of Honorbuddy trying to protect its IP is laughable to me. The entire business model is to help people violate a TOS..amazing to me...and I bet you will continue to get huge backlash from your CUSTOMERS!

Seems strange this is being enforced today and not before, as the court case is also today *tinfoil hat ON* ;)
Also kind of heavy handed you can't even post links to legal addons anymore imho.

I understood when i bought the bot that i was paying for the bot and not forum access and that forums are indeed not a democracy. It's the nature of forums and i have even said so many times before in posts. Forum access is a 'bonus' if you will, not a right. At the same time this bot and other buddy products would be nothing without it. Just like all bots. It's the community that makes the bot. Not in the sense of coding it but in the sense of making it worthwhile using.

Kick's questing profiles are the only thing the community can not really improve upon. Singular works to a point and is even better now Bobby has taken it over but not all classes work and less than most are worth raiding with.

True statement, but the reason I bought 4 sessions of your bot is because you had an active community.

I don't think you understand why the rule was changed in the first place.
Before, we had people would make an awesome profile/plugin/routine/etc. that would work EXTREMELY well in their paid version.
However, these people would post free version that were extremely crippled and essentially forced a person to buy the good version if they wanted it bad enough.

You see, this is why we changed the rule.
And no, we cannot review each case on an individual basis because changes to the rules affect the entire community and exceptions cannot be made.

In a sense, we let the selling of profile/plugin/routine/etc. slide by even though it has always been against the rules.
We have never allowed sales on our forum because we are not wanting to take any sort of responsibility of someone getting scammed/etc.

Please, feel free to sell your work and advertise for it elsewhere.
Just not here.
