Honor Buddy - Wiki Profiles Project (1-80 Leveling, Questing, and more)

Emmm.... this is frustrating me, I've signed up but I'm still unable to access anything. Even using the password: aw3somesauce. I'm still presented with the same screen

This is still an issue, I've tried with Safari and IE8. I'm about ready to give up before I even get started on this.

Safari and IE8 are the two browsers that seem to be having the signup problem.

Can you try it with Firefox or Google Chrome?

Edit: fpsware, check your private messages. I just sent you a note.

I also like this idea, im going to sign up now and upload old project's which revived but gave up supporting them due to people being bone idol and saying my profile's were bad when there problem was to do with HB2 bug's.

Awesome! Glad to have you on board! As long as we only upload profiles that we have permission to use, everything should be good.

Added something but cannot find it :s Did create page or does it have to be approved.

EDIT:Never mind found it :p

After you create a profile page, make sure to go into the main profile page and add a link to that page.

EDIT: Holy crap! Awesome work blancharke! Keep it up! I will also try and pitch in on this (although I haven't really ever worked on questing before, but since this is a whole new system, it'll be a good time for me to pick it up)!

Yes, it's still going on.

The wiki platform is just a tool... A method for releasing and maintaining profiles. People can use it if they want to, or not.

My guess is that people are still waiting on some of this questing stuff to cool down.

My recommendation for how to use the wiki in conjunction with the forum is this:

1. Profile author adds their profile to the wiki
2. Profile author adds a current build of their profile to the forum, along with a link to the editable profile on the wiki so other people can contribute (be sure to include signup password).
3. Every now and then, profile author updates the profile on the forum by editing their initial post with a new attachment.
4. People use the forum thread to discuss problems with the profile as well as detail their fixes to the profile on the wiki.

Cant we not do it here you are kinda risking our security..

The wiki tool has already gotten the approval and go-ahead by Bossland, and it is *not* risking our security, so there is no need to worry. The wiki is passworded, and the password is only given out on these forums. If Blizzard wanted to see our profiles, they could do that just by creating a forum account here (there's nothing to stop them), so it's not like the wiki is giving Blizzard access to our profiles or our usernames in a way they didn't already have or something. That's just absurd.

Back on topic...

Has anyone starteds on a horde questorder profile yet thats what is needed worse than anything at the moment

Lol. I've been playing with WikiDot... Its horrible, and I can download their login/passwords lol

And its definately risking security. He can say its not all he wants but when I can download your username/password list via a 12 year old Remote file inclusion vulnerability says all it needs to about the security. If your using the same password for his site as this one I hope your smart enough to change your password here immediately.

Didn't know where else to post Tombstone so im posting it here.

Been testing the Blood Elf Questing 1 - 20 quest order and had a problem. Doing "Situation at Sunsail Anchorage" it finished the quest and just stopped.

Activity: Looting Wretched Thug.

Could not create current in quest bot!

Its completed all quests except "The Party Never Ends".

What in the world are you even talking about? You managed to hack wikidot (and by inference, all their 541,000 user accounts)? If you can send me a PM that actually proves this claim, then fine, I'll terminate the whole wiki profiles project.

Regardless, I doubt anyone out there would hack wikidot or even bother trying (besides yourself), which means that even if you hacked it somehow, you're the only person who would have access to those usernames and passwords. Wooo scarey. How is that any different than you hosting it on your server (where you would obviously have access to the usernames and passwords), which is what you were wanting to do?

That profile is the one made by Nuok here:

I would recommend posting the bug in that thread.

thats my only issue with the wiki, at one point or another you end up coming back here making a post about it.

If its for bug fix's or what not, I love the idea. All us new profile makers making the same profile can actually work togeather, and we can say hey i got this quest to work heres how lets throw it in there. but at somepoint some kid is going to get pissy and delete a profile because they feel they didnt get enough credit for it. or the forums here will become so saturated with people making posts saying something doesnt work about the same profile. maybe if there was a comment section for the profiles so people who dont know what there doing or whats wrong can post a bug, then you can comment on that comment to say fixed. so 100 people are not posting about bugs.

Thats just my 2 cents. and saying the wikidot is not secure, idk any thing about that but what do you think should be done wired. there are not many profiles on there atm so moving to another wiki wouldnt be to hard.

You dont even have to be signed in to see your footer with the password in it, or on first page, or even by google, so saying the password is safe is not really true, if it was pm?d then it would be alot safer.
google cache for your pass

im not trying to flame but please dont sit and brag how safe your site is that you need a signup pass that clearly visible..

im with you on this one, ive seen no proof on the edges of the net about wikidot being hacked, but 1 thing that disturbes me is this
" you're the only person who would have access to those usernames and passwords. Wooo scarey."
actually no, if he managed to get that info he would be able to add it into a wordlist, a price on a wordlist of that size is 3 digits per cop.

i dont meen to flame, and like the contribution espacially when its not just a fast money scheme (popups on every click etc)

Yes, I realize that the *signup* password is relatively easy to get to, and I never claimed that aspect of it was all that secure. The only point of the signup password really is to provide a basic road block which requires people to sign up before accessing content (and hopefully tie them back to the buddyforum). This also keeps search engines from spidering the wiki content. The buddyforum site itself is wide open to anyone who wants to join (you don't have to be a customer), so if people are so concerned about their profiles being accessed by the public, they have bigger things to worry about than the wiki.

What wired was claiming (and what I was addressing) was the idea that he managed to hack the wikidot site and get everyone's passwords. I find this highly unlikely, because the way how wikidot handles users is on a global level (you become a member of wikidot before you join any particular wiki). If he actually managed to hack wikidot, then that means he would have access to 541,000 different people's passwords, as well as access to every single wiki on there. Personally, I don't believe him, and I think he's just trying to scare people away from the wiki idea by trolling this thread.

I agree with you on this, and my intention is to actually have a forum thread for each working wiki profile. This will give people a place to post bugs and discuss things and download the latest stable build.

At the moment, however, a lot of the wiki profiles are still in a baby state and I don't want to post threads on the forum just yet.
