Okay so on my realm this guy is posting all rare mounts like 999,999g, I mean tons like Spectral Tiger, white riding camel, wooly white rhino, Big Battle Bear etc, 13 mounts, even though others are posting the same mounts for what they are actually worth. Why is that guy doing that? Interested on his strategy, something must work since he even owns like every rare mount in the game on sale lol. Is he hoping that someone buys his mount when there's none cheaper, but who would pay 999k lol?? Thanks for any ideas! If you know and prefer to inbox me instead of public please do lol just curious.

Showing off, or because its fun. Hes not serious with those prices. It might be a dupe, but it might not. No one would ever buy any of those for 1 million

i see this all the time, people selling shit enchants for 500 k, mounts for 999
gear for 750 k...

and those are the biggest sellers / botters on the server.

I blame it on a wrong configured ah buddy or whatever program they use to post.

nothing else, and yes, 5 spec tigers is deffo duping.

Well he didn't have the same ones posted, most were only 1 mount each though he had 2 mounts posted twice. Odd to use a bot to post such expensive auctions tho right? I generally post expensive stuff myself and cheaper using AH buddy.

Most people miss the point completely for the reason why he does this, if you want more info on how this "works" then PM me.

It gets people either jealous or it's just marketing to get people to see his and make an offer via mail.

if you really know it, post it here or i call bs on this one
cause its not only mounts or gear i see like that, but also gems 5 x the normal prices!

Most AH addons work on building up data off many scans to get their average price and let you see what an item is worth, if a rare mount is scanned at 999k then over time this will show as a higher average price according to the AH addon.
So you can increase the price on rare items.

If it was a dupe thing they sell them cheap to get gold fast and not worry about account ban too much, not price so high and get no buyer within 48hrs.

Another idea is its just a guy chancing his arm to see if someone is dumb enough to pay 1mil for mount...

Or advertising it and then people send mail to ask what is RL money cost.

the above, tripple no imo, i cant imagine in these times for someone to try and boost prices, since all is pretty much set and known.

99 % knows what things are worth by now, whats rare and whats not. If you have the gold, you know the price.

still stay on faulty configured ah buddy or whatever. since posting a 999 k mount cost a ton for you as well. If i see that banker
on my server, im sure he pays 1000's of gold every 12 hour by posting his shit, and that just doesn't make any sense at all.

PHP:
1	[Schematic: Major Recombobulator]	473000g 56s	484000g 0s	24200g 0s	1 day, 7 hours ago
2	[Enchant Staff - Greater Spellpower]	36733g 52s 87c	38666g 87s 23c	1933g 34s 36c	9 hours, 37 minutes ago
1	[Recipe: Destruction Potion]	24200g 76s 90c	27500g 60s 99c	1375g 3s 5c	1 day, 7 hours ago

that makes no sense, and if you know undermine, which im sure you do, you know what the graph means.

Not everyone knows price like some 12 year old kid buying gold with moms cc to get mount.
So you cannot say for sure but if this is repeated it is unlikely to be wrongly configured AHbuddy unless person doesn't check a high value trader toon.

So at the end of the day you and me are both not knowing of real reason for this as we don't know the person doing so correct? We can only make educated guess. :)

It would be pretty irresponsible to leave those mounts in the inventory then let an auction house bot have control of them to wrongly post them at those prices. Its more likely advertising. Having said that I wouldnt want to risk advertising on an account with that value of items. So really I have no idea.

If he is trying to show off wont all those AH deposites cost him a ton of gold? Also I cant see someone accidently buying one of.those mounts. It takes a gold capped toon to do that. I can see it influencing markets from AH addons but the AH deposites will negate any gain over the long run? Im going to keep watching his auctions, I think he's posting on a lvl 85. He has 14 auctions for mounts now, all 999k. Would it help if I posted the toons name and server?

Against forum rules to post names.

The auction deposit depends on the vendor price of the item, not the price you list it for.
Most likely he is trying to skew the ah price.
For example spectral tiger sells for 200k. Since this is a fairly rare item it doesnt come to the ah often. This guy posts for 1 million for a couple weeks. Slowly peoples addon data (undermine journal included) starts to trend up. He keeps this up for a couple months. 2 months from now he gets a "lowball" offer of 350k from someone looking at their ah data, or he lists on the ah for 400k, which is 40% of its normal price. WHAT A DEAL!!!
