Sup Everybuddy,

I have done my due diligence and I cannot find a straightforward thread on how to create a blackspot using the current (circa Jan 2013) Honorbuddy BG2 prog. I have gotten so far as clicking on Developer Tools in HB, and in that window I can see my current XYZ location. There is a nifty looking button in Developter Tools>Profiles>Common that says "Generate Blackspot," but that doesn't seem to add the location to the current profile that I am using.

Any thought, suggestions? Does it matter the order in which blackspots appear in a .xml profile or can I just stick those coords in anywhere? What size radius should I use?

I noticed there used to be a program to help you build profiles, but that plugin looks like it stopped working some time during CATA.

Thanks for your help!

BTW, anyone know a good link to a page on how to create GB2 profiles that is relevant to MOP?

Success!!! I noticed the required information is displayed in the HB window after clicking "Generate Blackspot."

I am still curious about where I can find a guide to profile making in GB2 that is relevant to MOP. I am also not sure whether or not the order of blackspots in a profile matters or not.

Best Wishes to You All!

Hi, Danerdytube,

Here you go: Honorbuddy Profile Tag: Blackspot - Buddy Wiki

And to answer your questions:
  • Blackspot 'ordering' makes no difference whatsoever
  • Just let the radius default
To understand the structure of a Gatherbuddy2 profile, just open one and read it--they are very simple to understand (unlike a quest profile). The Wiki provides a Farming starter profile. And you may find this jump page useful:

Thanks chinajade!!! That was really helpful! I didn't realize blackspots weren't places your bot would never go, but only places suggested as non-ideal to HB. I added the areas to the list of blackspots in the profile, but the bot went there to gather nonetheless. Maybe I need to remove the hotspot(s) that get my bot into trouble in VotFW (Skyrange). The bot aggros Kunzen mobs, and then AOE's goats and gets booted off the cliff to its death :(

Hopefully, I can figure out a range or XYZs to exclude from the pre-existing hotspots.

Thanks again,
Danderdytube

Perhaps I should make the blackspots smaller so that they do not encompass multiple tiles. Is it possible to view a map of the tiles overlaying different zones of pandaria? Better yet, can I tell HB to stay away from certain mobs in my blackspot?

Thanks very much for your help!

Hi again, Danerdytube,

No, it takes a special tool for this, and its run 'offline'. HBdev are the only ones I know with the visualization tool. I'm rather certain its a derivative of this one, but knowing the HBdev team, they have customized their copy heavily. The customized tool would not be made available to the Community from BosslandGmbH.

As far as avoiding certain mobs, the best that can be offered is the <AvoidMobs> profile element. But this has two problems:
  • The element is only honored by the Questbot and Grindbot. Gatherbuddy2 doesn't understand it.
  • The mobs are not actually avoided. Honorbuddy just doesn't 'pull' them.
The AvoidMobs element is a serious mis-nomer.

cheers,
chinajade

Great news... I created my first profile and I'm getting 255nph on a high pop server during peak playing hours!!! However, now I am curious about the ideal trail of hotspots to list over a given path. Should I shoot for fewer hotspots per profile to be less conspicuous to blizzard, or can I be meticulous and thorough by having more hotspots that would lead the bot through the highest density of nodes possible? Maybe its just me, but it seemed like the bot spent a little extra time "thinking" about where to go next while running my verbose profile (laden with hotspots).

Thanks!
